It's interesting how Apple is now releasing this kind of pre announcement "teaser". It strikes me as a different culture compared to the days when Jobs was running the show. Any leaks back then were met with swift retribution.

I remember when Apple managed to convince a local police department to raid the home of the person who picked up a prerelease iPhone in a bar/restaurant when an Apple employee accidently left it there. That happened years ago, but I also remember the outrage from citizens who were furious that a company (Apple) could hold so much power over law enforcement. If someone picked up your phone in a bar and you knew where it was at someone's house, do you think you could convince your local police department to raid that home to recover your phone ... I don't think so.

Anyway, Apple seems to now be their own pre-announcement "leaker" of information, unless this is not an Apple video.

The video was done by MacRumors, not Apple.

I know haters gonna hate, but personally I can't wait to upgrade from my 6 to a 7+. For those of us who prefer the 'S' devices (my 6 is my first non-S iPhone), the 7 is going to be like a 6SS, an absolute under-the-hood monster. Also, I take a lot of pictures with my phone, and the dual-lens setup in Apple's hands should yield impressive results. Combine this with the possibility of a water-resistant deep blue or black iPhone, and I am quite excited indeed. Just please don't raise the price, Apple!!

Making new phones so great that several hundred million people world wide, let that sink in, have wanted to buy them. And, the iPhone 7, assuming the rumors are correct, will positively reflect upon the 20 Billion they have spent the past couple of years on R and D, and the billions in the years before, with double base storage and double max storage, faster charging, a new faster and more powerful processor, increased battery life, new stronger screen with even sharper resolution and TrueTone color accuracy, Optical Image stabilization, great new low light camera, new duo lens system, better built in speaker sound, new microphone system, new two way lightning headphones, new color choices, etc., plus whatever improvements haven't leaked. And a new operating system for it. And that all in just 12 months on one product. But you are right, it is still a rectangle!

Damn, if Tim Cook and the tens of thousands of engineers at Apple would just stop staring out the window, they might get something done. They will pay the price when only 60 to 70 million people decide they like the new iPhone enough to buy it in the Christmas season and close to 200 million buy it in the first year. I can only imagine your depression then.
Hahaha. Do you work for Apple marketing? The shilling is taken to level 11 in this post...

All incremental. Is that the Apple way?

Definitely feels that way! Still hoping for some sort of "wow" factor but this isn't the same Apple as years past. They seem to be releasing materials on a "just get by" mentality, instead of pushing the envelope.

Removing the headphone jack at the very least is "envelope-pushing". As an owner of 3.5mm headphones I don't know if I like the move just yet, but I'll give props to Apple for doing something that they clearly think is just the right direction for phone hardware to go. I don't see that many bluetooth headphones out there in the world so it seems a little crazy right now.

Hopefully they will include a 3.5mm adapter as well!

Apple is on the decline. Maybe someday they will come out with new technology that everyone is excited for. That day will not be on the 7th.

No, but I just had to comment on the insanity of the Apple bashing. I suppose it's therapeutic in some capacity, but to ignore the significant improvements in just 12 months in the world's most successful consumer product, you have to be in some serious denial to feel "depressed" and confused about what they have been doing. And that's without knowing what else Apple will reveal when they show us the actual phone. Cheer up and if you are in the market for a new phone, enjoy the company of a couple hundred million happy people who will buy it.

Will this keynote have members of the public present or just members of the media? I suspect even the media are fanboys. I wonder what kind of fallout would occur when Tim/et al announce "We made the iPhone truly magical by saving another 1 mm by removing the 3.5 mm audio port..." I would wonder if that will be met with crickets or boos. I am hoping for the latter and love how Apple reacts to that bombshell (said in my Jeremy Clarkson voice)

Apple will have its up and downs. That's good for consumers. We benefit when Apple feels the competition nipping at its heels. Maybe one day they will be go out of business. Right now they are the most valuable company in the world with the most revenue. The revenue they got just from services last quarter exceeded all Facebook's entire revenue.

This year's phone will have a lot of great improvements. So many people will be excited about different aspects of the new iPhone on the 7th that 60 to 70 million people will buy it in time for Christmas. Billions in profits just from this Christmas season. Just the facts.

Not working on Macs, that's for sure.

Wait for the next round of announcements. They have been doing a lot of work on the Macs for sure

the apple tv has been around since 2006. That's how.
This is not even close to being an accurate explanation, so I will just assume you meant this sarcastically... You could have at least mentioned Apple's history of number-jumping operating system and software releases.

Will Apple talk about the iPhone 6 with "touch disease"?

Not likely. Apple has not even acknowledged the problem exists yet. And a KeyNote is very limited in time, being this is a hardware event, it's unlikely they would address this.

Anyone that thinks apple is on the decline is just guessing because they don't like what apple is doing or they insist on Apple providing products that they have determined to be the way to go. Whether we love their products or not, would you trust someone on MR to run Apple over Tim Cook? No... most negative posts here are childish, but some are great feedback.

Excellent post Sir. Well said. And I agree on all points.

More leaked packaging showed that Apple will (hopefully) be releasing their AirPods. I think it'll be an iPhone 7 exclusive as it'll need to use a new version of low-energy powered Bluetooth as the earphones themselves are said to have a custom Bluetooth chip.

Can I have peoples guesses on if they will be announcing the next event date during the September event if there is an October event ?

What to expect? People wondering out loud if we've reached peak iPhone. Apple fanboys trying to make some lemonade out of lemons, while quietly starting to worry about their favorite tech company. Tim & Co making fun out of their predicament with the EU ruling and trying their best to make a meh iPhone update look a lot better than it is. That's what you can expect. In other words, don't expect much and you'll only be slightly disappointed.
