The nice thing about everyone being so pessimistic about the new phones, is that I can sleep in on pre-order day and order at 9am, and still get it the first day.

Wireless Airpods?
For a company that's always claiming to be environmentally this and that their computers and iPhones are some of the worst when it comes to EMFs and now this.
A wireless headphone inserted into your ear.
NOT a good idea

At this rate you can walk in to any store on launch day or anytime during the week, and pick one up no hassle. ;)

The test will be finding the updated phone instore and distinquising it from the 6S.

I'm planning to go into a store and try my headphones with one :p want to see if the staff have adapters in their pockets or if it will be usual, the accessory does not ship on launch day

I wonder when people will realise that the smartphone itself has peaked. Not iPhone but the whole smartphone market. That's just how things go. Do you expect to get a new TV with astonishing and innovative features every year? No. Do you expect to get a new car with astonishing and innovative features every year? No.
I hope you get my point.

On the latest Ctrl-Walt-Delete podcast Walt Mossberg and Nilay Patel of Verge fame both coyly mentioned that they had heard of a "surprise" from different sources coming at the event. They didn't elaborate and kind of acted like they weren't sure if it was real or not. Hard to say what that means, but food for thought.

Much rather have airpods with no wires than onces with. Certainly in the gym it's a damn pain wires getting in the way. Each to their own though.

At times Mac Rumors Forums remind me of a pack of hungry dogs all trying to eat at the same bowl. At first everyone dives in, gobbling it down, but invariably and predictably the "hounds" are soon at each other's throats, snarling and fighting with each other, kicking over the bowl... challenging each other to a duel. It's inevitable.

It's what happens when the hounds are forced to eat the same food for such a long time, they get restless and turn on each other. Not the pups fault the food manafacturer has got lazy.... ;)

What to expect? The world's fastest phone and most powerful processor for starters. If they use dual cameras I expect they'll put that processor to good use utilizing real-time image processing to bring new features we haven't seen yet.

i don't need a watch, i only use my pone to talk, i don't need a phone.

I simply want a new computer.
I have been using Apple since 1986, please don't make me stop using it.

I am old school, i don't need everyone knowing where i am at all times.

Another free crap U2 album at the end of the keynote ;)

It's interesting how Apple is now releasing this kind of pre announcement "teaser". It strikes me as a different culture compared to the days when Jobs was running the show. Any leaks back then were met with swift retribution.
Yes sure Apple got upset. But during the iPhone 4 keynote Steve Jobs himself joked about it. As he revealed the new iPhone 4 he commented, "stop me if you have seen this before" to a round of laughter. Tim Cook's first comment on the matter was about "doubling down" on security.

I remember when Apple managed to convince a local police department to raid the home of the person who picked up a prerelease iPhone in a bar/restaurant when an Apple employee accidently left it there. That happened years ago, but I also remember the outrage from citizens who were furious that a company (Apple) could hold so much power over law enforcement. If someone picked up your phone in a bar and you knew where it was at someone's house, do you think you could convince your local police department to raid that home to recover your phone ... I don't think so.

Yea except that is not what happened. It was not the guy who picked up the iPhone 4 prototype. It was Jason Chen, the editor at Gizmodo who wrote the "hands on" story about the unreleased phone (not much hands on, since the phone was disabled the night it was lost). Still it was strange, especially considering the prototype had already been returned to Apple by then and no charges were ever filed. Jobs said they (Gizmodo) tried to "extort" them (Apple).

We are all (myself included) guilty of ragging on Apple for not continuously pushing the envelope, but the fact is that Apple is *NOT* the same company they were 10 years ago. Back then they were a much smaller company making forward-thinking devices and software for technically driven people. Now they make devices for the masses, which means commodity items that have appeal to most anyone. Those people care about cool apps like facebook/snapchat/etc. and bragging rights. There is no longer a financial incentive to drive innovation.

OMG! Can't wait for those new watch bands. The share price will go through the roof.

Actually, can't wait for another of those Groundhog Day cringe-fests with all those personality-free execs trying to be cool. It's one of the funniest on-demand programmes you can stream. The audience are almost as funny, whooping it up every time some minor change is announced.......keep up the good work.

Second most awesome live-stream is https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/HDEV/ Its a great way to chill after going incandescent at the BS and non-announcements at the latest Apple event.

Removing the headphone jack at the very least is "envelope-pushing". As an owner of 3.5mm headphones I don't know if I like the move just yet, but I'll give props to Apple for doing something that they clearly think is just the right direction for phone hardware to go. I don't see that many bluetooth headphones out there in the world so it seems a little crazy right now.

Hopefully they will include a 3.5mm adapter as well!
If they include a BT 3.5 adapter that would be even better

iPhone 7 gearing up to be better than I thought. It still seems like the Apple Watch is not going to be a must have product and will be lagging the Microsoft Band 3.

Hopefully since the new MacBooks have been pushed back to October/November, we'll see them sport Kaby Lake CPUs instead of the outdated Skylake.
