As a relitivly new Mac user, I'm planning on getting the new iMac. I'm bummed about no retina but.. Can anyone explain the difference between boot camp and parrellels regarding running windows from time to time?
Bootcamp allows you to run windows or linux on a mac. Parralels will do the same. The main difference is having to reboot the computer if you want to change OS with Bootcamp. Bootcamp allows you to run the OS at native speeds. Parrallels and others, run as a mac app and do not require you to reboot the computer to use windows. The inconvenience to VM software is that it divides the computers resource between each running OS. iMacs come standard with a quad core and 4gb of RAM. If you decide to run OS X and Windows side by side. Parallels attribute 2 CPU cores 2gb of RAM to each OS.
Parralels does have the advantage to use your iOS device to connect to your Windows partition if necessary.
VMware software is often on sale I'd suggest waiting for the discount.
This thread is giving me a headache last couple of pages. Stop bickering children
