with back to school maybe that is why the focus is MacBooks for now and an iMac upgrade down the line....what scares me is we haven't even really heard it mentioned like you you have the Air and Pro:(

Luckily not hearing anything usually means absolutely nothing when it comes to Apple! :)

Yes, what I think they might have come across and interpreted wrong is this third MacBook Line. I think what might happen is an extension of the MacBook Air line to 15" and that retina is introduced for all MBAs. The the MBP is spec bumped for the 13" and 15" ones and 17" is discontinued.

This scenario would leave us with something right for 9to5mac, ie four updated Mac product lines. The MBA, MBP, MacPro (but not the specs listed by 9to5mac), and finally also the iMac. At least this is the scenario I hope for. :)

Let's dream away for a little.

The 'new macbook pro's' are actually not macbook pro's at all but a revolutionaire redesigned imac .

9to5,if they're right..well Cook is Cooked!
MacBookAir with Ivy and retina,MacbookPro with Ivy and Retina but BTO
MacPro maybe rackable...and Imac Ivy,7970 and no Retina.
Thats what i hope to see.

9to5 mac have basically laid out every possible option out there. Now they're bound to get at least one thing thing right, unless there is no refresh at all this week. Their predictions for the Mac Pro are laughingly bad and are based on 2010 Xeon CPUs or CPUs that just don't exist at all, never mind the 3 year old GPU that's been in the current Mac Pro for the last two years.

Good one 9to5. *sarcastic thumbs up*

Well, doesn't that go for 9to5mac as well?

9to5 don't have a vested interest in there being iMacs released today though.

I'm guessing since you're posting in this sub forum that you're in the market for one... so you have a reason to WANT them released

Just throwing one out there (and I hope I am wrong as I am in the market for a new iMac). Could it be that Apple has decided to detach itself from the annual refresh cycle of the low volume categories such as desktops? Will instead aim for biannual refreshes. Which given the minimal real world CPU improvements offered by ivy bridge compared to last year's sandy bridge processors may have been a factor?

Well yes that'd make sense, however the new GPU's that are out are much, much better, but I don't expect Apple to care too much about GPU's. Either your theory, or that they all together aim to detach themselves from the consumer desktop market, and aim on laptops and portable devices, but will keep the Mac Pro semi-fresh every now and then so that developers have somethig to use.

That F that ****. They are pleased with the imac and wont let it hang. I dont need a stupid laptop , nor mac pro is too $$.

Things seems somewhat dark. I have a iMac from early 2008 that's feeling a bit sluggish as of late, and to be honest, i'm looking forward to be able to play current games, which is why i put away money to buy a top of the line new iMac once it's out.

I managed to get my last iMac just before a update, i wont be doing that again. That said, i wont whine if apple doesn't release now, it's their prerogative, but i wont be buying til they do.

I was at the apple store at our mall over the weekend and I saw a soccer mom and her three kids leaving with a brand new 27" iMac.... lol fail

soccer mom doesnt know about MR and neither do the kids ;)
well folks, only 'bout 3.5 hours till the show starts, hold on to your butts.

And, if a new iMac is announced, i will be getting one. Max screen size (I guess it's likely to be a 27, has there been any rumor of a 30'?), add a secondary monitor. I love being able to have a mixer board over one window and the editing and the transport on the other screen. Generally, i cannot manage without 2 screens. Both video editing, music editing as well as layouting benefits greatly from the increased workspace.

Good god man, where do you live??

Sweden, but i dont see how that has anything to do with screen size. But dual 30' and a neat little 32gb of ram would hit the spot. As far as i'm concerned you can never have to much screen, memory or beer.
