Me too,
But I have to say that if only in fall we will some lame speed bump, hard questions , on apple way of dealing with their products ,will start to rise.

Very true. If its that long, I will be expecting a redesign. Not just a spec bump.

After months and months of wanting a Mac and now I finally can afford my first Apple computer...this happens. So confused right now

Exactly

Hang in there brother. Use the time to save a bit more for some accessories.

Mentaly I am ready to wait until 1.2013.
I don't mind.
Funny that it happen exactly at the time that I wanted to switch to apple from pc.
I think they lost great momentum this wwdc. Many wanted to jump from pc to Mac, and they start loosing them.
Let's hope they have good excuse and not some lame tactic.

Well I just don't want to miss out on a Retina display if there happens to be one (and of course a year of OS support). As far as accessories are concerned, I already have an external HD. Not sure what other sort of things you're referring to.

I'm probably just gonna get the Mac when Mountain Lion comes out, whatever version hardware that happens to be on. That'll cover any simultaneous release that has been hinted at, but "sometime in the fall" is just waiting my life away. The thing is, in addition to having one released right after I buy, I'm equally afraid that new features would raise the price.

Fall they're saying now for a refresh. Surely not. Why? If no retina (which I personally don't care about) no reason to wait that long for a routine refresh

They're going to let the iMac compete for headlines with the iPhone 5? Seems very unlikely.

Call me an optimist, but I honestly believe we'll see new upgraded iMacs in July when ML is released. :)

I would like to see a new imac, I would go for the smaller one though. I could not fit a 27 inch...

Well, First thing first a macbook air because my blackbook is on the verge of dying..

Let's wrap up what features we want...

Ok, let's wrap up what we want and don't want on the new Mac, this is a multiple choice poll so choose what you want and don't choose what you don't want to see! Simple as that!

Didn't see a poll but I want: Ivy Bridge, USB 3 of course, 680m GPU, and anti-reflective glass. 512gb SSD option would be nice too.

It posted the thread befor I made the poll, it's up now!

Come on!!! I can not be the only one that wants a holographic screen and mind controll!!!

ReAlly!!?!?! No one wants Holographic display?!?!

I really think the new iPhone will be the big quarter 4 product, which means the iMac could come out July - September.

New here after lurking a while

I decided to kick in my 2 cents worth on this one. I'm happy with my basic 21.5" early 2008 iMac. I think it should last a bit longer but wanted to see where iMacs are headed. I don't sit at mine due to bad back. I lounge with a yoga bolster on a bed. The iMac is on a bedside table on wheels. I really want it lighter but would like to keep the OOD. I also like less power consumption and heat if at all possible. :)There is really no way Apple can please all of us as each has different needs. I don't do heavy duty stuff at moment but never know where or what I will be doing next. As long as my serial port adapter keeps up with the latest OSX releases (drivers) I'm happy. It runs my computerized weaving loom along with some specialized software.

Hmmm ... I think anti-reflective is a no brainer. All they have done with the new Retina Powerbook macs, is remove the outer glass. And you get a considerable level of anti-glare by doing that. Also, you make the whole thing a lot lighter. And its cheaper to build.

I am not sure you need 512GB ;;; where does that all end? Its an expensive option perhaps - probably $400 extra? That around the cost for the Retinas ... and with USB three, one can also use a cheap external or two ...

Ivy Bridge is obvious, since its in the notebooks. USB-3 too of course.

I also hope that there are no i5s. I want all Quad i7. I'd love a 6 core machine too, just to make the i7 Quad better value!!!

Time too for some cheap Thunderbolt external drives from Apple??

I'd like a 30" display too, that did not weigh more than today's 27". Or maybe weighed less than today's 27".

Sorry everyone, I forgot to add anti glare glass... My bad. :(

A 512gb ssd so I don't have to juggle files onto a hdd and not fill up a 256. Not worth $400 if there is that option, but it would be nice. SSD prices have come down a lot.

If the rumours about "no retina" are true, then I don't see any good excuse to prolong the agony until autumn.

I'm willing to wait as long as until Mountain Lion (provided it's released in July), otherwise I'm going to buy the RMBP with as much kicker as I can afford, and then hook up my two 22" LCDs to it to complete my studio, and finally have a productive setup.

Agreed. But have also been wrong in the past been too optimistic so who knows. At present I'm weighing things up like this:

Evidence supporting July refresh

(1) no retina, no bottleneck
(2) GPU releases this week
(3) provide opportunity for core academic market to benefit from back to school promo
(4) CPU benchmarking scores filtering out
(5) 57% vote July 24th https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1384568/

Against July refresh

(1) this dude who's saying 'fall'
(2) SSD capacity constraints (bottleneck) if rMBP experience is examined
(3) lack of detailed parts/spec/inventory numbers leaked yet
(4) how Apple has treated the Mac Pro community
