I think what makes these fake models ugly, are the "iPhone" label at the bottom and the weird logo placement. Here is a cleaner version of what it might look like if you adjust it.

Unlike the notch - no-one will get passed that camera bump.

Seriously. Let them release a model that actually looks like that and you want to see upgrades numbers tank?

It is awful. No one excuse this. Speak with your wallets. Get Apple back on track while it is still possible. That is UGLY.

Steve Jobs would have never allowed this design to go forward. Never. Everyone likes to use that line on a variety of things, but here it is the truth.

That is the worst-looking iPhone model to date and by a very large margin. This does not bode well.

That design is god ****ing awful.

It really is. This is the culmination of greed and horrible leadership from Tim Cook.

I’ve said it repeatedly and I’ll say it again - FIRE Tim Cook while there is still time.

Look at this design with a stern eye. Seriously think of this design and compare it to every other major flagship phone on the market.

This is awful. It is a joke design and for a premium price. This is a horrible warning sign.

Gonna conceal the bump, like on my max and it’s the back of the phone. It’ll be just fine, IMO, there always seems to be a lot of hubris before a release.

Is it the bump or the rounded square with two to three lenses with strange flash placement that is the concern. Cannot conceal that with a case, if anything it would just show the rounded square and make the rear flush.

My 7 Plus is getting long in the tooth. I'm a power user and my battery health has dropped to 93% in the seven months since I got my battery replaced. The phone still looks practically brand new. So might as well sell it while it's still worth something.

I think I might just bite the bullet and upgrade this year. I can still sell this year's iPhone next year and get most of my money back.

I keep thinking Apple is gonna be like "haha idiots those were all fakes", once Google spends a few million designing the new Pixel to have a giant bump. I still can't believe Apple would sell something this ugly...
I guarantee the phones they release this fall will look better than the leaks, especially the fakes. According to OnLeaks, who have a good track record, the camera hump is part of the glass. I’m assuming then it will be similar to what they did with the 7 where the bump was part of the aluminum chassis vs a metal ring with the 6/6S. All the fake leaks of the 11 look more like the 6 than the 7.

My guess Apple will make it part of the glass enclosure so it looks more natural and not like a big metal square stuck on the back of the phone. Basically it will look more polished than the mockups.

Finally I’ll bet any money if this was the iPhone 11 leak everyone here would be eww that’s so ugly what is Apple thinking blah blah blah.

There’s just no a to make a bunch of lenses on the back of a phone look elegant. The #1 priority has to be picture quality not aesthetics.

I have upgraded annually or almost, having an X, 7 Plus, 6S Plus and 6 Plus.

I only skipped the XS/XS Max in recent releases. And I can’t see any reason to swap out my X this year unless I decide to go Max or R for more screen. And I would only go R if the new R is not a step down from my current X in features.

This seems like it is setting up to be a fairly unimpressive upgrade cycle.

However, having skipped the opportunity in 12 and 13, PLEASE Apple, let’s have a MAJOR overhaul of Springboard in iOS 14 next year. Sooooooo old. We need an innovative and groundbreaking UI transformation.

I'm waiting for a reason to upgrade from my 6s+

Better screen yet?

Nope. Only the 8+ has a slightly better screen.

Headphone jack is back?

Nope.

Better battery life?

Slight, at best, since I replaced my battery.

Bettery camera? Sure, but I don't care about camera very much.

So 4-5 years later, the latest iPhones are still a DOWNGRADE for me.

For $1500. A $1500 downgrade.

lol no

generally speaking, i dont think so.

yes: one of the trends that Ive left us all with is that function does win out over form/design.
we have accepted this since the 1st small, irritating camera bump (in iPhone 6?)

but no: Ive demanded new materials, new techniques, cutting edge processes in order to shrink the dimensions of most of his signature projects.
i dont think that its coincidental that the big splashy announcement of his retirement was just done recently.
i think he himself has been largely out of the process for over 2 years.
these 2019 phones are not his work and he definitely doesn't want his legacy based on these 2019 models.
these models are the result of a design process pre-empted by the supply chain process.
result: 2019 focus is on software and largely leaving alone the hardware.
where market forces demand, such as better cameras, add hardware features like this agglomerative camera bump. design? what's design?

not Ive.
Tim.

Earth to Spaceship: losing market share is not an attractive picture.
get back to leadership.
think differently.
we can understand your desire to get into the content game.
but please dont forget about hardware.

You can’t reason with the Apple fanboys here, they refuse to look at hard data of market share and raw upgrade numbers. Literally all they care to discuss is the current stock price, and since that’s so great, and profits are so solid, that Apple can’t possibly be headed in the wrong direction.

Seriously take a look at that design, people. It is awful.

Oh yeah, and the return of touchID?

Or Apple could just come up with a better design. Samsung's S10 models look a lot nice and probably sit better on a table (i.e. no wobbling).

This design is a hard pass for me. I dislike my XR and I'm either going Android or iPhone 8 Plus.

You aren’t the first person I’ve seen say that they want to upgrade DOWN.

When, in the history of the world, has it even been a good sign when users want to downgrade to previous iterations of your devices? The iPhone 8 series was the last decent design by Apple. Then they got insane and greedy and it’s only getting worse.

FIRE Tim Cook, replace him with a disciplined visionary who can get Apple back on track - before it’s too late!

I’m really looking forward to a wide angle lens, finally. No reason to upgrade other than that (have the Xs max now). However, financially it doesn’t even make sense to hold on to a phone for 2 years. Might as well get the new model every year with resale values going down and the hassle of reselling is just not worth it.

Does no one use a case? A case will somewhat “conceal” the camera bump.

I like my Apple leather cases. The camera bump is a non-issue for me. The missing USB-C port is more of a concern.
I agree. I’m kinda surprised people care about the bump when cases hide it so well. In fact with the iPhone 4 and 5 some cases would reflect the flash back and distort pictures because the camera and flash were flush with the phone and therefor recessed from a case. The bump doesn’t bother me. The big black square on a white back looks bad in my opinion though and since I prefer clear cases, I’ll probably just end up getting the black model to lessen the contrast. I would prefer to keep the regular “silver” polished stainless steel instead of the black and the 6.1” size would be the sweet spot for me, but these are all minor preferences that naturally won’t be an issue for most people.

Here you to again. Sales data and the performance of the stock literally makes it impossible to fire Tim Cook. The board unanimously gave him a vote of confidence.

Sorry you don’t like the direction, but it’s simply your opinion.

No one is going to fire a guy making 100s of billions of dollars in shareholder value.

Cook is frankly doing a fantastic job by every measure.

It seems like Apple is moving to a three year upgrade cycle vs their old two year cycle. It used to be 3G&3GS, 4&4S, 5&5S, but now it’s 6&6S&7, X&XS&11. I’m assuming it makes manufacturing cheaper when they keep the same form factor for an extra year, but it also seems like they’d be missing out on sales by not making very noticeable changes each year.
