Admittedly I can’t really tell you what I expect from a iPhone now. I’ve been iPhone only since gen 1, but these new iPhones just do not inspire me to run out and buy them. I’m still on the iPhone X, when in the past I would have upgraded already. My wife and remember the days where we would wait hours in line on launch day. That was a really fun community type thing. People would be playing music. Starbucks would give out coffee. People would cheer. I guess I miss those launches. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the function of the iPhone. Maybe after a decade I’m just not as excited because innovation has kind of caught up with technology.
You didn’t / don’t need to upgrade every year anyway. What a waste

"A perception these are ugly" created by the "fandroids"... and there we have it folks, the current apple consumer at it's best.

Why are you here? This is an Apple-centric site and most of your posts are either critical of Apple or in praise of Google’s spyware platform and related copycat crap.

You’re not fooling anyone. Or perhaps you’re on Sammy’s payroll...

With rumors of the “frosted glass” material, it is quite possible that it might be used specifically for the square shaped area, as the cover of the triple camera lens - meaning that it might not show that much black.

Pencil support. About as likely to end up on a future iPhone as a headphone jack.

You do know this alleged mockup didn't come from Apple right?
[doublepost=1563499729][/doublepost]

Makes perfect sense given that the percentage of users who don't use a case is somewhere around .0001%, and it ends up flush with a case.

You can do all those things with the original iPhone. So much for that argument....

Now that's the funniest post in a long time.
its funny cause its true?

comparing to the original iphone, now thats the funniest post in a long time

Man, this year's iPhones just seem so akward. Should have jumped on last year's models.
I think these are going to look very dated in a year.

Not to late to make the jump yet. By September, if they discontinue the current ones.

Still hoping that these renders don’t show the real thing.

The Fandroids are trying really hard to create a perception these are ugly. They're not. It will be easy to mitigate the camera square with a cover (black) or just buy a black iPhone 11 - if it REALLY bothers anyone, which is doubtful.

And watch, in a year, all the Android copycat handsets will look EXACTLY like iPhone 11, without the iPhone's faster processor, secure OS and the rest.

Well they are UGLY and NO, Android will NOT copycat this design - the iPhone X notch was another story, mainly technical-functional, that's why there were so many copycats. But, we already have plenty of different designs on Android phones with 3-4-5+ cameras in the back... so, no reason for any Android phone to copycat this monstrocity!

I really-really-really hope Apple is just messing with us and the final design presented on stage in September will be something COMPLETELY different than this ugliness...

Same old iPhone...nothing new and nothing to see here...move on people. no for real now...wtf? Thinking about buying an XS now when it's getting cheaper.
Apple is even removing features now and I bet the will be more expensive than the last years one. Go home Apple and rethink your strategy.

It looks good to me. Not great, not bad.

People will have to realize this isn't the big change year. We've known for months now that the next big outward facing change for the iPhone will be in 2020. This year is all about minor hardware features and improvements across the board.

Honestly, the cameras don't bother me so much. I think it looks good and I'm sure they will probably tweak it some in 2020.

I upgrade every year myself, and I probably will this year. I knew it wouldn't be a huge change. Namely, I really want a Qualcomm modem this year but it won't realistically happen. If it does, I would definitely buy this year's iPhone Max.

Last 5 years same changes. Camera improvements, processor goes up 1 number from a10 to a11 to a12 etc lol, slightly longer battery life and that’s about it. Literally same non sense.

Haven’t seen a single phone with a notch and no chin before the phone x, 2 years later and android phones still have a chin.

You can browse the iPhone X launch thread and see some of the comments about the notch and how android fans felt about the notch when Apple launched it.

1 year later and almost every android oem tried to clone the iPhone X, of course after mocking Apple and the notch. It was a bit pathetic to be honest.

It looks good to me. Not great, not bad.

This reminds me of a neighbour I used to have. Every year without fail he would buy a brand new BMW 3 series convertible in blue. Now, to top that he had a private registration number (license plate?), which is a very British thing where you can use a mixture of letters and numbers to “spell” your name in a fashion. The thing was when he changed his car, he would never affix his private number for the first month......”.....how would anyone know I had a brand new car?” He would say!

the camera bump is just ugly. Its just fugly. There is no spinning it for me. It can never ever grow on me. Maybe a case can make it look a bit better. But it is one damn ugly phone...

I will keep my X and hope that 2021 models are better looking.

I understand and I agree, but if it is a waste, it’s mine to waste if I choose to do so. I give around 40% of my yearly income to relief work and I spend over 5 months a year working in 3rd world countries doing relief work. Been doing it for 25 years this coming October. So, if I decide to spend my money on something I don’t feel bad about it at all. Waste is a matter of opinion. But yes, I understand your point.

I have friends that believe it’s a waste to use more than two squares of toilet paper per trip to the bathroom. That’s cool for them...

Now that's the funniest post in a long time.

So, you are saying, with the release of the 2019 iPhone, my iPhone X will suddenly become unable to use Facebook, WhatsApp, IG, Twitter and YouTube and web browsing? Even when Apple stopped publishing iOS versions for older iPhones like the 3GS, 4, 4s and 5 they still work.

Comparing generation one of the iPhone is bit of a stretch. News flash, phones last longer. Sure, maybe 8 years from now my iPhone X might run out of steam, but in comparison to iPhone generation 1 it will be supported way longer. iPhone gen 1 stopped getting iOS upgrades after version 3.

In contrast, my brothers iPhone 5s came with iOS 7 and got at least 6 updates so far.
