Honestly, who uses a mouse anymore?

We've all gotten so used to trackpads by now, and they're much more expressive and accurate anyway.

Navigation with a mouse is so slow, feels like the stone age compared to a trackpad.

The only people I know using mice are people over 50.
Nope. Mice offer much more precision than trackpads. That's why competitive gamers all use mice. But feel free to show up to gaming convention and express your views.

Trackpad is good for quick scrolling and multitouch actions such as activating exposé, zoom, swipe, etc..

Mouse on the other hand, is much better for precise targeting of the UI elements and right-click actions.

That’s why for the last 10+ years, I’ve been using a mouse on the right side of my keyboard, and a trackpad on the left side.

Btw, the only people I know not using mice are the ones who don’t have a proper desk setup with a monitor and keyboard.

I'm fundamentally opposed to the design principles underlying the Magic Mouse, since it's about form over function, and I'm the opposite.

I do mostly scientific and office work on my Macs, and here's here's how I've programmed my G502 to make that work go as efficiently as possible:

Between the front facing ports on the Mac mini and Mac Studio and now no USB port on the bottom of the Magic Mouse, Apple might finally be able to shake that "form over function" reputation for industrial design. I wonder if it took so long because they're worried about paranormal retribution from the ghost of Jobs.

I've never found the mouse difficult to work with and I use it every day, but I hold it with my thumb and fourth/fifth fingers and rest my wrist on the desk, rather than the mouse itself. Took a bit of getting used to but second nature now and hasn't caused me any RSI.

I hope they keep the touch scroll surface. By far the most satisfying thing about using these is the buttery smooth scrolling and acceleration that I can't seem to get out of any third party options. It also makes switching between the trackpad on my Air and the mouse at my desk less jarring because I don't have to think about interacting with either option, they just naturally do what's expected.

Too funny. I suppose all those people who do real work or game competitively should also switch to a trackpad 🙄

Photoshop and video editing designers working on big screens definitely use mice, even if it’s in addition to a trackpad or drawing pad. Try using the trackpad to click on pixels with your finger.

I use both, a nice Logitech mouse and the magic trackpad. Interchanging throughout the day without even noticing.

I work professionally on a CAD PC with different mice, and at home I am always happy that Apple has built a simple intelligent mouse, just as it is. The people who keep complaining here amuse me. Sad people.

For CAD and graphics work for sure. Computers have other uses besides Instagram. Should check them out!

Well I’m only 49 so not everyone using a mouse is over 50 ;)

Also, not everyone uses a laptop. And trackpads are, quite frankly, almost as much of an ergonomic nightmare as an Apple mouse

Edges almost as sharp as a Cybertruck, $25 Microsoft mouse is worlds more comfortable, magic trackpad on desk for swiping functions.

As much as I love Apple's industrial design for most of their products, they just can't seem to make a good mouse, and I am very skeptical this next one won't also suck in some way nobody has even thought of yet.
Has Apple ever made a mouse that lets you hold the left and right buttons at the same time? It's something I need to do a lot, and I submitted feedback about it way back in 2006, but as far as I know even the latest model still has this limitation.
