Allow me to turn OFF the sideways movement and I'd be happy. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally scrolled right or left...it's maddening that you can't turn that off.

Desperately needs Touch ID. I love the Apple Mouse, but also alternate with the Logitech Lift for Mac, which I find really helps prevent discomfort in my wrist. I thought it would feel very awkward, but it felt natural.

Sorry, not buying any mouse with non-user-replaceable batteries--Apple's typical grift!
My Logitech M590 lasts MONTHS on two rechargeable triple A batteries, as does my logitech K380 keyboard.

Honestly, who uses a mouse anymore?

We've all gotten so used to trackpads by now, and they're much more expressive and accurate anyway.

Navigation with a mouse is so slow, feels like the stone age compared to a trackpad.

The only people I know using mice are people over 50.
38, if I forget my mouse at home I am useless and slow at work!

Absolutely enormous missed opportunity if the charging port is not inside the mouse entirely. You would have to buy and use Apple’s patented “Rotating Metal with Grooves de-groove-remover”. More money for Apple and Tim Shareholder, and if anything goes wrong they can always say you violated the warranty by opening it up!

And a lot of laptops are docked more than half of the time with multiple external monitors. It would be interesting if Apple offered a "traveling" Mac Mini form factor for those who mostly dock their laptops and never spend hours at Starbucks "working"

What are you asking for, a docking station like from CalDigit or OWC? The closest thing to that Apple made was the Thunderbolt Display. Dell still makes docking monitors and in my testing they work great with Macs.

There is a 0% chance they move the charging port to anywhere other than the bottom, its staying on the bottom. Anywhere else is aesthetically bad. You barely charge it and you shouldn't hold it while charging as you are keeping the heat in.

The mice don't charge so fast that heat is an issue, LOL.

Such a ridiculous thing to say. Most people I know use mice and even when using a MacBook attach a mouse to use it anyway. Not to mention that many software require the use of a mouse anyway

Main features:

- revolutionary charging method built with privacy in mind: at Apple they believe that privacy is a fundamental human right, and mice right too!
The charging port is now hidden under the mouse, just remove the glue at the bottom to access it, then order Apple Mice Privacy Kit Max Ultra Pro to glue it back and use it, so the mouse keeps his port private and protected.

- Powered by Siri and Apple Intelligence. You click on a folder and you’ll get “hmmm sorry I can’t do that”.

- 4 different colors plus one pro color.

- only $499.

- charging cable not included.

- mouse mat available for $999. The smoothest surface for a mat, glowing apple logo, available with personalized Memoji printed at the back, for privacy.

I was just thinking out loud. But now i'm thinking of a form factor like something like an iPhone would be the perfect for a basic computer that is docked to something like a CalDigit. I know Android has had this feature, but as a full-fledged Mac that fits in your pocket.

Wow, does anyone care about the Magic Mouse? I tried to use one that came with an iMac many years ago. Found it to be too flat to use for any length of time. It looks nice enough but is mostly useless.

Who doesn't use a mouse anymore? We all dislike trackpads, and they're much less expressive and accurate anyway.

Navigation with a trackpad is so slow, cumbersome, and innacurate compared to a real Magic Mouse - which Apple got right and shouldn't change. Trackpads are fine for people under 50 who spend hours watching inane Tik Tok videos. They're even usable for actual work, just not as fast for those of us who use computers for art and music.

The only people I know who sneer at people over 50 stopped learning long ago. Not only do they exclude people over 50 from "we," they don't know that you can be at the top of your game, doing the best work of your life at age 69 - using a mouse.

This is the best mouse ever. Pair it with a app like BetterTouchToll, add some gestures like switching between tabs, closing them, middle click, pause/play music and you have an amazing device. I undertsand it's not for ever type of hand. For my, it works perfect. I open my palm and let it rest on the lower part. It's super comfy while incredible powerful with before mentioned app.

Trying to imagine the people who find the Magic Mouse uncomfortable. You hold it in your fingertips like a tool, not in your palm like a potato. Curious how you use your keyboard all day!

Honest question, are there any other mice that scroll as smoothly and in all directions as a Magic Mouse?

Despite the legitimate criticism of the physical design, my main complaint with the Magic Mouse is with the software. The touch surface has tremendous potential handicapped by inconsistent and under-utilized software implementation. Third party software helps, but only so much.
