Honestly, who uses a mouse anymore?

We've all gotten so used to trackpads by now, and they're much more expressive and accurate anyway.
Who does? Tons of people - hard to tell if your experience is really that compartmentalized, or if you're trolling.

I personally prefer the Magic Trackpad, but each form factor (trackpad, mouse) excels at a different kind of movement/input. One is not inherently better than the other, the way you paint it.

The quality control of Logitech has deteriorated significantly. I wouldn't want to own any new product from Logitech even if it's promoted by Apple.

Ah they’re fine. Just don’t buy the expensive mice. The cheap ones are really good. I use a G203 at the moment.

I love the Magic Mouse and wish it had MagSafe in addition to the port for pairing.

The single most important thing Apple peripherals need is fast user switching similar to AirPods.

The keyboard needs backlighting.

It’s ridiculous there is no black numpad version.

I also want them to make a combined-stacked keyboard/trackpad combo that can be used for anything, including Vision Pro.

Navigation with a mouse is so slow, feels like the stone age compared to a trackpad.

The only people I know using mice are people over 50.
Ha ha got love these ridiculous comments. I am well over 50 and use the Magic Trackpad daily. My students are under 25 and I’ve only seen them using a mouse.

I just got the Keychron M1 Wireless mouse. Perfect replacement for mac users really. The software is really good, you can map one key to double click, another to minimise the current window, a third for mission control etc.

I'm happy I finally found a compatible mouse with solid software.

Your comment seems so wrong to me I don't know where to start.

Can we get a version with a magsafe ring on the bottom? Many of us use our laptops on small tables that we have to move back and forth constantly, meaning that Bluetooth mice constantly end up flying and crashing on the floor. A magsafe ring on the bottom, paired with a magsafe ring on the table, would allow us to snap it securely to the table when not in use. It could even be used for charging the mouse as well. Thank you.

Is there any way to replicate the scrolling of the Magic Mouse with a Logitech mouse?
You mean scrolling smoothly instead of in little jerky movements? That is the one thing the Magic Mouse does well (or maybe something Apple just doesn't allow other mice to do?)

Anyway, this comes pretty close: https://mos.caldis.me/ I use it all the time with my Logitech G305 and it's up there in my "must install" list. Smooths out the scroll animation a lot, and also has a very nice little shortcut where holding down a modifier key while scroling accelerates scrolling a bunch.

You will want to disable it for certain apps. It goes absolutely ape**** with making Creative Cloud apps zoom uncontrollably, and doesn't work very well at all with apps Apple has ported over from iOS: News, Messages and Stocks. But on the whole I find it does what it says quite nicely.

I was 100% expecting them to keep everything the same, but then updating the existing charging port to a "fast-charging" port. Maybe they'll relocate it to the top-center of the mouse? Maybe make the mouse 2.3mm thinner? Not sure what they will do! Can they still call it "Magic," given all the turmoil Disney is going through with Snow White? Do we need an embargo on the word "Magic" for a few years?

I don't know! So much drama! Stay tuned!

Charging ports? My Apple mouse uses two AA batteries. Not routinely used over track pad, but available. I do use 2 Eneloop rechargeable batteries, though
This is the way. The batteries in my Logitech mouse tend to last ~6 months or more, and I can swap them out in 30 seconds. And re: Eneloops, I also haven't bought disposable AA or AAA batteries in like 10 years at this point. Wasteful, expensive and inconvenient.

You were wrong about trackpads being more precise than mice, and the counterexample I showed holds true regardless of whether they're attached to a PC or a Mac. You're just throwing out a red herring to avoid admitting it.
Yeah nah, multi touch in programs like illustrator and photoshop are fantastic, as well as it being more intuitive than holding down a modifier key to scroll. I wouldn’t play competitive Quake on a trackpad but there are plenty of instances where it’s flat out superior

Honestly, they should just take the mouse out of the box of the iMac and include a gift certificate for Logitech.com. Apple hasn't made a good mouse in 20 years, and that's nuts because they basically pioneered it for personal computers.

Honestly who the hell works on a laptop?

I can feel my back getting fd up just thinking about it.

Also Apple still makes desktop computers you know? It’s hard to imagine if you don’t use them I guess. And a trackpad is not good (or at least I’m not used to) for graphic design.

And I’m not even close to 50.
And a lot of laptops are docked more than half of the time with multiple external monitors. It would be interesting if Apple offered a "traveling" Mac Mini form factor for those who mostly dock their laptops and never spend hours at Starbucks "working"

It's not like it could be *less* ergonomic

Yes it could.
