It is uncomfortable. In fact, it’s a piece of garbage. The last computer I bought that came with one, I threw it away with the box.Trying to imagine the people who find the Magic Mouse uncomfortable. You hold it in your fingertips like a tool, not in your palm like a potato. Curious how you use your keyboard all day!
Honest question, are there any other mice that scroll as smoothly and in all directions as a Magic Mouse?
The Mighty Mouse was sold until 2009, and that was OK. So, 16 years!Honestly, they should just take the mouse out of the box of the iMac and include a gift certificate for Logitech.com. Apple hasn't made a good mouse in 20 years, and that's nuts because they basically pioneered it for personal computers.
Photoshop and video editing designers working on big screens definitely use mice, even if it’s in addition to a trackpad or drawing pad. Try using the trackpad to click on pixels with your finger.

I was just thinking out loud. But now i'm thinking of a form factor like something like an iPhone would be the perfect for a basic computer that is docked to something like a CalDigit. I know Android has had this feature, but as a full-fledged Mac that fits in your pocket.
Spot-on. I do all of my photo editing/processing in Lightroom using Apple's mouse. It's superb for that.
Too bad Apple won’t allow you to run Mac OS on it, thus crippling it’s potential. The technology is there, the silicon is powerful enough today and has been for years.
Better yet, make it MagSafe compatible. We were selling and installing IBM PCs in 1984 and laughing at the Apple Mouse on those silly MacIntosh Apples. Are the edible? I’ve now been using that damn Apple mouse for over twenty years. Yes, it is time to change the charge port location, PLEASE!
Yeah I learned this lesson the hard way recently.Honestly who the hell works on a laptop?
I can feel my back getting fd up just thinking about it.
Also Apple still makes desktop computers you know? It’s hard to imagine if you don’t use them I guess. And a trackpad is not good (or at least I’m not used to) for graphic design.
And I’m not even close to 50.
Yeah, it breaks whatever focus you had goingYes I know it only takes a few minutes to charge. When it dies I can plug it in and go for a coffee break and when I'm back it'll have a decent enough charge to get me through the day if not the week. But it's just that fact that plugging it in to charge forces me to stop working that is such a poor design choice. With my Logitech mouse, I plug it in and it just works as a wired mouse while it's plugged in.
Why does it take Apple so long to design a new mouse? Seems like a trivial project.
And gamers too.Honestly, who uses a mouse anymore?
We've all gotten so used to trackpads by now, and they're much more expressive and accurate anyway.
Navigation with a mouse is so slow, feels like the stone age compared to a trackpad.
The only people I know using mice are people over 50.
I have known many AutoCAD users, and they went back to the mouse after using the Wacom Digitizer for a while. And a Wacom beats them both in photography, video, graphics and probably CAD.
Are you assuming they started designing it right after the current one was released??Why does it take Apple so long to design a new mouse? Seems like a trivial project.
Sounds a lot like the kind of engineering decision that happens during a meeting with three engineers and a marketing guy.I believe this design was deliberately chosen, above all other reasons, to prevent the Mouse being used while connected to the charging cable — to prevent cable damage, as happens so often with iPhones...
