Get rid of the port and just support wireless charging. A charging mouse pad with mouse is pretty good.

Introducing Magic Mouse 3 with MagSafe

The coil is on the bottom and when you move the mouse into the middle of the wireless charging mouse pad it clicks into place. Also it stops working while charging. Also every time the mouse hits the pad it gets stuck ever so slightly as the magnet pulls the mouse in to charge.

Honestly, who uses a mouse anymore?

We've all gotten so used to trackpads by now, and they're much more expressive and accurate anyway.

Navigation with a mouse is so slow, feels like the stone age compared to a trackpad.

The only people I know using mice are people over 50.
As a graphic designer I can’t even fathom using a trackpad and I’ve never seen anyone else use one with a desktop computer either…

Right now the MX3 is my standard mouse. I've tried most everything. If they can get people to switch from a MX3, that's an achievement on its own.
Getting people to switch away from a Logitech mouse isn't that hard; all you have to do is wait about a year and a half for the switches to wear out and start double-or-not-clicking 🙄

The experience with a mouse is way above any trackpad, especially if you have a good mouse and correct mouse settings. Comparing a mouse and a trackpad is like comparing a video game controller and a touch screen. I'll choose the former any day, thank you very much.

I don't know how you use your mice, but in my case, I've been using 3 Logitech mice in the last 15 years or so, and never had any problems. The only reason I change a mouse is to upgrade to a more recent/advanced model, even though my current one still works perfectly fine (like someone switching from, say, Mac M1 to Mac M4). I resell it on eBay and never had any buyer complaint.

Spot-on. I do all of my photo editing/processing in Lightroom using Apple's mouse. It's superb for that.
Dito. I am 190 cm and have large hands. I hold the mouse in a way which allows me to use all the wiping gestures and find it super nice. As a travel mouse I bought a logitech mouse once (because I forgot my magic mouse at home). God, it had scroll wheels and stuff. Things from early 90s. 🤣🤣🤣

Magic mouse is great. Just the charging slot deserves all the jokes.

I've had the double clicking on a single press a few times with Logitech over the years, MX Master 1 and 2, and the even older MX Revolution. But so far I've had my MX Master 3 (not the S version) for a few years now, and even with pretty heavy daily use it's still working flawlessly.

But to be fair, everytime I've had that issue Logitech support has been amazing. They just wanted me to show proof of purchase and then they shipped me a brand new one each time, as long as I physically destroyed my original one first and showed them photo evidence. No idea what they are like these days as it's been a while.

Charging ports? My Apple mouse uses two AA batteries. Not routinely used over track pad, but available. I do use 2 Eneloop rechargeable batteries, though
Same here. The only drawback (or bug?) is that the mouse doesn’t show up in the BT widget on my desktop - only my (lighting) magic mouse and the magic keyboard are detected. But the old m mouse still works even if not showing up in the widget.

Honestly, they should just take the mouse out of the box of the iMac and include a gift certificate for Logitech.com. Apple hasn't made a good mouse in 20 years, and that's nuts because they basically pioneered it for personal computers.
Considering that the Magic Mouse is like the only Mouse they’ve made for the last 20 years (16 in fact), you might be right.

However, Mighty Mouse was quite ergonomic. Still my favourite mouse to this day.

I know I am in the minority but I love the Magic Mouse. I don’t like the ergonomics of other offerings. I dislike wheels on mice and scrolling up/down/left/right, two-finger-gestures, all on a smooth surface. Why have buttons or wheels that can only go in two directions? I only do little graphic design and mostly writing and surfing, so I understand someone else might want more features, but the I probably would get an external trackpad/drawing pad?

Don't know what Apple will change. Wish Apple would sell the different colored Magic Mouse separately. Don't think it is a priority for Apple and we might not see any update to the Mouse any time in the near future.

I'm fundamentally opposed to the design principles underlying the Magic Mouse, since it's about form over function, and I'm the opposite.

I have several but never got used to them as I found their functionality limited.

Maybe instead of a charging port they'll use MagSafe. No more port to deface the beautiful esthetics, resulting in the perfect blend of form over function.

I do mostly scientific and office work on my Macs, and here's here's how I've programmed my G502 to make that work go as efficiently as possible:

I have done something similar with USB Overdrive and a multibutton mouse; which makes it a lot faster to do common tasks vs using keyboard shortcuts.

I love inertial scrolling. Does it work well when you use wheels instead of the Magic Mouse's touch surface?

What I expect:
  • A little more battery life.
  • USB on the side.
  • Slightly rounded edges at the end of the top plastic surface.

Lots of people I know use a mouse, and some are under 50. Trackpads don't normally come with desktop machines. I do have a graphics tablet that can be used as a trackpad, but no matter how much I try, I can't get used to it.

I prefer my Logitech vertical mouse. I am ten years over 50

It's not like it could be *less* ergonomic
Yes, awful to use, I used one at a friend's house, i asked her how on earth can se use it. My fingers and hand cramped up after a few minutes of using it.

I use a Logitech lift Vertical mouse myself, I find it hard now to go back to a normal mouse,

It depends on how much you pay, if you go for a cheap logitech mouse then yes maybe you are right, but I have a G502 on my gaming pc that is 10 years old and was used as my regular mouse for at least 5 of them. Still working fine, but need a bit of a clean and I also have a Logitech lift vertical mouse which is over 2 years old, and again, still working fine.

If you spend a around a tenner on a cordless mouse, then it is certainly not going to last as long as something that cost over £60, unless that person is lucky.

Has Apple ever made a mouse that lets you hold the left and right buttons at the same time? It's something I need to do a lot, and I submitted feedback about it way back in 2006, but as far as I know even the latest model still has this limitation.

I never missed the option to click left and right at the same time. In what situation have you needed it for 20 years now? (I'm just curious as to what I've missed).

My two biggest problems with latest version of the Magic Mouse are 1) I right-click when I’m trying to left-click; and 2) it doesn’t see as well as Logitech’s MX mice. Small movements aren’t always picked up.
