Yeah! But macbook will be released between next week and wwdc...so maybe we'll have a problem. A lot of us will want to compare 2nd macbook with incoming redesigned and thinner macbook pro 13", and if apple release the first sooner, we'll have to wait until wwdc to choose one. So please apple, release all new macbooks at the same time!
Exactly.

Maybe like iPad, choose a size, choose if Pro or not.

Smallest
iPad mini 2 - last years rMB 12" - doesn't get a refresh, becomes low end with price drop
iPad mini 4 - new rMB 12"

Mid size
older iPad Air 2 - 13" MBA doesn't get a refresh & might stick around.
new iPad Pro 9.7" - new 13" MBP

Large size
iPad Pro 12" - new 15" MBP

3 new machines, and they have a line up in line with the iPads pretty much.

Yes! I'm so happy for you Millisecond Skylake Zealots! You can now get to Facebook 0.00001 seconds faster! It's like adding a whole minute to your life! Congrats!

Oh. No.

BJ

Just because you are not interested in Skylake, does not mean he is not allowed to be happy about that rumour.
Really wondering whats your intention in this forum is. Just defending yourself for having bought the "old 12"Macbook" ?

Sigh...Im really going to get annoyed by you :-/

Don't get annoyed by him please!! His real name is Broadwelljames (BJ).
Skylake has some key features, like graphics (hd 515 is 40% faster) and battery (maybe one or two hours more). So now if I have, I could use handbrake seamlessly, much faster and without battery drain!!

Note: I don't have a Facebook account (I prefer speak with my friends face to face meeting with them or by facetime)

New MacBook9,1 frequency data found
I did some digging in OS X 10.11.4 and found additional information about the new and yet to be released MacBook9,1 / Mac-9AE82516C7C6B903 in the FrequencyVectors, suggesting that Apple will be using the following Intel processors:

Intel® Core™ m3-6Y30 Processor (4M Cache, up to 2.20 GHz)

Intel® Core™ m5-6Y54 Processor (4M Cache, up to 2.70 GHz)

Intel® Core™ m7-6Y75 Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz)
"

Anandtech: "In many of our tests, Intel’s 40 percent estimates are actually conservative—both the Cinebench and GFXBench graphics tests suggest that the HD 515 in the new Zenbook can be up to twice as fast as the old HD 5300. That’s not universal, but in any case the improvements are significant and help compensate for the old Core M chip’s anemic graphics performance. The really nice thing about Skylake is that it provides those performance increases while also increasing battery life slightly—the new UX305 managed about half an hour of extra Web browsing compared to the old one, and it lasted an extra 20 minutes or so in the GPU-heavy WebGL test."
So... as experts say, a lot to like about incoming upgrade. And this is only about processor and graphics. We could see more updates like thunderbolt 3, hd facetime camera, higher speed ssd and ram, bluetooth 4.2. Who knows!

I've been expecting for quite a while that this would happen - and probably silently. I would not expect any changes other than the processor/chipset update. Possibly USB moves to 3.1 Gen 2 with 10Gbps - but don't expect Thunderbolt.

Exactly what I'm thinking will happen given the high likelihood of a silent update.

Last year imac 4k and skylake 5k were introduced silently on October 13th with tons of changes. Silently upgrades can be very substantial!

This is as much a matter of what's available to update the rMB with as it is about the fact they didn't mention it at this week's event.

Another "According to BJ" thread, more nonsense that meets the eyes!

I share the view that there will be
-better cpu and gpu (Skylake is a given)
-better cam 720p (even if it would not be a big deal it would be nice)
-better battery life (again with skylake is a given)
-lower starting price point (that's hopefull thinking)
-possibly a second usb port (again not a big deal it would be nice)

Again, new imacs were introduced last year silently. And they could have release them at September keynote but they didn't. So...wait and we'll see!!

About lower prices and more usb-c ports, don't expect that..

Right, but they were released around the same time as the new iPhone and iPad Pro announcements - Apple had lots to talk about. This week's keynote was possibly the most boring one in recent memory. I think if they had something new to talk about regarding an imminent Mac update, other than a processor update, they would have played it up. A new MacBook with Skylake, multiple USB ports, or Thunderbolt would have been the most exciting topic of the day! Since they didn't I don't expect anything other than a processor change.

So they release 2 "new product" and you want them to take the spotlight away with a minor update?

I'm not saying Apple would have treated it that way - but I get the impression that around here there is a lot more pent up demand for a Mac update - any Mac update - than yet another mid-tier iPhone and iPad.

Sorry to repeat myself, but that is the exact reason why, since people are waiting more for a Mac than an iPhone a new Mac update would steal the spotlight, it is better to have a silent update a couple of weeks later, when the novelty of the new iPhone / iPad is less prominent.

I feel the same, I don't care about the iPad or the iPhone they introduced, but we are here talking about them, if they released a new Mac we would be talking about that instead ;)....and we will in a couple of weeks.... so they got both covered.

Apple wants people focused on ipad pro(with its post-pc marketing)...so, release a new ipad pro with 9,7" and release new macs too eclipsing that ipad? No...

Other thing I'd like to ask you: what do you think about apple post-pc marketing? Only include windows pc or macs too? It's weird, some keynotes they talk about ipad pro as the best product for work, and only the one necessary (remember tim cook telling he only travel with his ipad pro) but then, other keynote they tell about macbook as the future of the notebooks...

As stated in my prior post, I'm happy for those who continue to pine away and leap for joy over any slight rumor about a processor that the RMB doesn't need. If that's how you get your jollies, more power to you. It's not like this is a new Radiohead album, not like Skylake is going to make a material difference to anyone who is using an RMB right now. Those who need to push their processors to that degree shouldn't even consider an RMB. Milliseconds mean nothing to the RMB's intended audience. Facebook doesn't exactly soak up the 0's and 1's.

And that's the point, really. What we've got going on here since the day the RMB was released are a legion of frustrated MacBook Air owners who want the RMB to magically morph into a better Air and it's not happening. And all their rhetoric about a new processor right around the corner (nope) and Apple adding another USB-C port (nope) has all these potential RMB buyers thinking they need to wait for the "next version" (nope).

As a result, this forum is besieged by the misinformed triggered by the wrongfully hopeful. It would be nice if this could just become a place for RMB enthusiasts to talk about their machines without the distractions of these other groups, most of whom are ill-willed and clinically depressed.

I know what you meant, but do note that "better Air" can mean different things to different people. :D
