There is no 'positive conversation' possible because the future RMB is already in stores and what all of you want is truly impossible. The RMB is going to get thinner and lighter and more efficient and lose more ports. You all want varying degrees of the exact opposite.

Have you tried to have these conversations in the MacBook Air subforum? You know, tell everyone that their notebooks suck and that if they were only like the 12" RMB and were thinner and lighter and had a retina display all would be well with the world? Try it.

Very funny!! You have same knowledge about apple and bmw. What can we expect about someone that has bought a 4-series BMW? All people know that, of all BMW, only 6-series gran coupe with active stabilizing instaled is a good car.

Hey now, I love my 3 series! Its treated me well! I'm actually not fond of the larger ones.

I really love my rMB. I am a bit disappointed that they haven't announced the update for it yet. Hoping for a faster GPU and more battery life in the new one!

I, for one, want a thinner design, lighter weight, non-protruding HD camera, a 14" screen, and fewer ports.

If a thinner and lighter design would mean that ports had to go I wouldn't mind. Why do you proactively want fewer ports, in addition to being fine with them gone for mobility's sake?

People want more autonomy, not more battery.
People have autonomy. That's what's frustrating. When rMB was launched, they were frustrated and actively spewing hate for this new product line when MB Air and rMB Pro are also available. That's the point an extended MacBook Line—choice—and Apple extended that choice by releasing another product. Now there's more. But people actually saw it as less. Which made my mind explode.

What many complainers (right or wrong) actually want is Apple to become Dell. Because Dell is a customer intimate: they let you intimately choose the components and specs you want. Apple is a product leader: they make few but the best products (arguable) at a higher cost. Two different innovation strategies. If Apple opened up OSX, we would have Dell like customer intimacy because someone would fulfill that innovation strategy. But we don't. Apple's Innovation Strategy is to make few, and the best. Which is why we're Apple customers. We want fewer options and we want the best. Do we really want Apple to become Dell?

nobody wants rMB to get thicker and heavier and less efficient. That's only in your imagination.

Oh, so larger processors that require fans that there isn't room for and extra ports that require chassis space that doesn't exist and HD cams that require lid thickness that isn't there, that's not imaginary?

Eventually, reality has to set in folks. The RMB is too new for Apple to bother updating, the RMB is too niche for Apple to focus on for at least a full year, and these extras that you want aren't physically possible without completely redesigning what just it the stores in sufficient quantity less than 7 months ago.

They'll be here by the end of April.

LOL. Why, because "Early 2016" means "May" to you? I don't know, "Early" usually means January or February. When April passes and nothing has happened, you'll tell me that August is still "Early 2016"?

Nothing is coming. Nothing. Buy a RMB today. Waiting another day is just foolish.

I have a 4 Series Gran Coupe M-Sport RWD with the Adaptive M Suspension.

The 6 Series is a beautiful car to look at, but it's bigger and heavier. Hmm. Sound familiar? MacBook Pro vs. RMB. Interesting.

Early meant April last year when the 2015 MB was released.

Not familiar. 4-series interior is ugly and plasticky...6-series interior is milles away in design, quality and design (and macbook is the top of the apple laptop designs). Sorry. Bad comparison.

Note: By its increased weight I said with that option included.

I'm just going to leave this here:

While I don't need my own car today, I have considered BMWs in the past. Every time the thing that stops me is this reputation. Even if I know I won't drive like a jerk, I don't want to be associated with all those that do. Cars are very personal, and can tell quite a lot about someone. Brand affiliation is strongest with cars. It's too bad, they don't have this reputation in Europe.

It would be awesome...but only if they reveal all laptop updates (between 12-14"). If not, I prefer to wait until WWDC.
Think about it...Apple celebrates its 40th aniversary (a very important day). So they could announce something special, silently, as a surprise. For example, an Apple-Bmw partnership!!! LoL.
Seriously, Apple could introduce new products next friday. We'll see.

No, because "early" means the first 4 months of the year to Apple. Always has. Did you read the article? The reference to an "early 2016" MacBook is in OS X server code.

BMW owners embrace the stereotype, it's half the reason we bought them.

I have 2.

Oh, I get it now. "Early" means never.

Get a BMW, these Skylake anxieties will be a thing of the past. That's a good point, actually. If your car doesn't move faster than everyone else's, why do you need a notebook that does?

Doesn't matter, can't be judged from the outside as I drive past a bus stop and quietly chuckle to myself as others rage at my good fortune. Sometimes I take two laps.

If it's half the reason you buy it, and you have two, then simply arithmetic confirms you are 100% the stereotype :-D

In all seriousness, I think the proper car analogy (and still a BMW-technically) to the rMB is the base-model Mini Cooper. It's small, it's light, it fits everywhere. It's powered by a very low-power engine (a 1.5L 3-cylinder), but when needed it can turbo(boost) to respectable 134hp, not that anyone needs that much day to day. It technically has room for 4 adults, but really it only fits 1 adult or 2 adults if they don't have much with them. There is really nothing one could add to this car to make it faster, and also cannot really expand it's capacity without buying some kind of adapter (a roof rack). Most importantly, it's pretty overpriced.

After a good dose of vanity...please, back to topic. That thread is to talk and speculate about possible specifications of 2nd gen macbook. If anyone wants to talk about any other thing, please create other thread. Thanks.
