Your builds make a huge amount of difference, you have all our gratitude!solaris said:I guess its no suprice that I run my latest G4 optimized Firefox build (1.0+).
Even though I don't use Firefox, I very much appreciate the efforts of people like you who help those that DO use Firefox. On my Windows PC, I use Firefox all the time, except for those times when I'm forced to use IE like for Windows Updatesolaris said:Thanks!

Hasn't changed since November...The main reason was the extention Adblock, which allows me to filter out those annoying flash-based ads without killing all support for plugins, as I had to do in Safari.
Other advantages with Firefox:
- can allow some sites to open pop-ups (the wireless netwoork at school has a portal solution where I have to have a pop-up window open to have access).
- my internet bank works again (the b*stards recently "upgraded" their bank, and I can no longer use Safari)...
- I can add separators in the bookmarks, which is very handy when you have a lot of bookmarks, and try not to have too many folders in the bookmarks bar...
- Firefox displays the contents of the alt-tag when an image is missing, while Safari only has a stupid questionmark...
- the Searchbar at the bottom of the screen is fantastic, and makes Safari's (and all other browsers) Find-window seem like dark age technology.
- Firefox has RSS-support, which Safari still misses...
- Send Link... is missing in Safari
You, fellow member, are the perfect candidate for trying Shiira, IMO. Like you, I used Safari on the Mac because of how well it integrates with other useful operating system services. Shiira is designed so that it integrates with Safari - this means that the vast majority of changes that help Safari will help Shiira too! For example, if Safari were to get a major upgrade to its bookmarks system (which it really doesn't need IMO), Shiira wouldn't be affected because all it does to access Safari's bookmarks is read the .plist file, a format which Apple not only documents well but provides an interface to programmers for reading. This means that any program can read the .plist files of any other - whether program 2 can make sense of the settings for program 1 is another matter, and one that Shiira handles beautifully. Not only does Shiira integrate with Safari; it uses the same web rendering engine too (WebKit).mad jew said:Definately Safari on the Mac and IE on the PC. I take advantage of the browser being integrated into the system properly which is probably why I really don't like Mozilla-based junk. Thankfully, I mainly use OSX.

It always confuses me how many people have crazy problems with Firefox. I've been using it for ages, put it on 5 other people's PCs as a spyware deterrent, and the only problems I've ever had have been human error.mad jew said:...As long as it doesn't make double ups of all my system files like Firefox did when I was fooled into trying it.![]()

I have to admit the Mozilla team did a great job on Firefox - the combination of extreme configurability, a secure extension system, and an open-source browser is almost unstoppable if done right. I'd use Firefox on a regular basis on my Mac if the Mozilla team can get the user interface issues worked out (Firefox for Mac, with the default theme, doesn't "feel" like a true Mac application).Timelessblur said:It is firefox all the way for me.
The thing that make firefox so nice is not just what comes out with it out of the box (which in it self is nice) but the extentions that can be added and downloaded to make it even better.
Also if you have broadband go in to about:config on firefox and turn on network pipelining and it becomes a lot faster
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't flaming. I don't doubt that people do have issues, I was simply commenting that it's rather uncharacteristically not happening to me!mad jew said:FF fans, read carefully before flaming...
