I don’t think it’s a last minute change. Apple didn’t need to announce AW7 if they weren’t ready. No one forced them to do so. And it’s not the first product they didn’t give a exact release date. Eg: AirPower.
They probably wanted to have a new model out by the holidays and with the new screen it’s still a compelling enough upgrade for many. AirPower also kind of proves the opposite of your point. It was design/production issues that made Apple announce it without a launch date. Are you saying that Apple watch is also delayed because of late production issues? That could be the reason for a last minute change.

It was definitely a last-minute change. And the proof of this is an Apple’s phone series 7 introduction video where accidentally they showed the new watch design on a swimmer. You can see it for a few seconds.

That is definitely not what was released and clearly matched Prosser’s renders.
And it’s in Apple’s own series 7 promo video

They definitely changed plans last minute (really a few months but yeah)
I just watch the video frame by frame and the watch is definitely rounded

Holy crap you have a really sharp eye. This almost definitive proof.

That's just an optical illusion. This screen grab is literally a couple of frames earlier in the same video. You really think Apple would really leave this online this if it were a mistake?

Why is anybody thinking there was a miscommunication somewhere?

The only thing that went wrong that I can see is that people forgot rumors are just rumors and nobody knows anything until Apple announces something.

Yes I agree. I can't believe such a minor design and spec upgrade has caused such a delay. It's like a 'S' iPhone upgrade with which they can't even give a launch date or even the full specs. Must be a last minute change.

Doesn't mean Prosser et al were right but this launch smells like a last minute Plan B.
100% agree.

Anyone who doubts that AW7 is a “plan B” launch and behind schedule needs to look into the details: AW7 has the exact same AW6 chip and doesn’t even get a unique “Watch7” model code in Apple’s product listing. All the new AW7 are listed as “Watch6,6, Watch6,7,” etc.

All the health sensors are the same. The main Series 7 chip is a 100% identical to the Series 6 chip.

Don’t tell me that they can’t give a launch date for what’s really no more than a Series 6 with a slightly larger display.

There’s not even a date for preorders. This is unheard of for AW.

Honest to Pete, I just spit out my coffee when I read the sentence that says "Given that....and leaker Jon Prosser, the most reputable sources..."

No, it is not "Given" at all, nor "reputable". I know this is a rumor site (the name and all), but my man is just straight up making s$%t up most of the time.

It’s very possible that it was reshot and no one noticed the error, fleeting as it is, in production. It‘s not the first time Apple made a minor mistake in the videos.

Yes. Perhaps the only thing wrong here is that people keep speculating over and over again about Apple's event and generating hype. People (me included) should just get a life instead.

I mean, we are talking about the exact same video shot as this Watch, which is definitely rounded.

I would love your hypothesis to be true, but I don’t see the proof here (and don’t believe that Apple would be dumb enough to forget an unreleased design in an official ad)

The fact the series 7 is only going into production is more for me they has to scrap the plans from new design as they simply couldn’t get it to work and why the delays existed. You can also see in the event how rushed it seemed

maybe it comes next year or maybe they scrap that design completely.
