Now here is the question... what will the iPhone 8 have over the Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus?

Simple. It will have iOS.

To me, that's more than enough reason to purchase the iPhone over the Galaxy. Not everyone prefers iOS and that's fine. I have nothing against Android users - I just know that I will never be one myself.

IOS and android are practically equal now with Android having an edge let's not look for reasons to make the iPhone superior because it's not. Buy it if you like it that's it.

Another opinion heard from. An opinion.

Now, here's mine. I've used both. Both have good points. I prefer iOS.

Samsung's stuff is real good. VERY nice hardware. Just is a little weak on the OS side.

Same with Windows. It's fragmentation vs tight control

Your move.

Not sure where all this nonsense about lag on the s8 comes from..i can only assume it's from die hard Apple fans who've read articles on the net and not experienced it personally..its kind if boring now!

I've had the s8+ since release and had zero lag issues. Runs as fast as the day I set it up. However, I have had lag issues with my iPad mini 4, nothing major but a few issues now and then.

If you want to talk about lag issues try updating a 2-3 year old iPhone with a new release if iOS..! That's where I can honestly say I've experienced lag issues! I personally think that this is done deliberately by Apple to frustrate users and try to force them to upgrade to a newer model!

Anyway, I'm in no way sided with one camp or the other, just stating my own personal experiences of using both OS's. If the new iPhone is something spectacular then I would be very tempted to try it.
For whatever it's worth I have two four year old 5s in iOS 11 b10. They run better than the original iOS 11. So as a general comment, imo, the bolded isn't always 100% true. Now an 5 year iPhone 5 may be different.

I think a lot of people feel the iPhone 8 is too late because it's specification was expected last year.

Really? I'd been reading in many places months before the iPhone 7 release that it wouldn't be a redesign because Apple were planning a redesign OLED model this year instead. Thought it was common knowledge on tech sites.

We were talking about it here in the months before the launch, but it didn't make it any less disappointing for those of us on that upgrade cycle when we really were presented with a recycled iPhone 6. You never know exactly what you're getting until the launch in any case, much like a lot of people are hoping the iPhone X is a lot more exciting than the leaks we've seen. The iPhone does have the most forgiving fans of any product though with any logical disappointment fiercely defended in many cases.

One of the things I am the most stoked about the iPhone 8, is the near bezel-less display. Radically different in design, radiant, I could go on and on! I was so excited until I saw my friends phone that I thought was an iPhone 8 for a fraction of a second, but later was told it was a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus!

http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s8/

This is the first time I've been to this website, and I look at this and think to myself... InfinityEdge display... this is.. like what the iPhone 8 is supposed to/going to be for it's "more expensive release model"? Feeling the phone in the hand and interacting with the screen, I was seriously impressed with the display, much moreso than my current iPhone. I now think to myself, if the iPhone 8 is releasing soon and it does not meet and exceed expectations, this Samsung Galaxy phone is actually a viable alternative!

Now here is the question... what will the iPhone 8 have over the Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus? Someone help me get excited about the iPhone 8 so I can stop dreaming about how this Samsung phone looks almost perfect (not liking the fingerprint sensor on the back). Help me with kindling I need to be excited for the new iPhone!

The other great thing about iPhone 8 is it will take all the money you have in your bank accounts. 1000 to 1200 plus the costs of wireless charging add ons WOA! don't worry about the color Apple want's the money to be green! ;)

Like I said looks matter not to me, how it works does.

Funny, this is the same reason I prefer Android. It doesn't matter that iOS is lag free to me when the OS is limited in functions.

... So, yes. Apple could have half-assed their approach last year and reduced a bit of the top and the bottom like Samsung did, or they could wait four years and do something big.

Fixed that for you.

For an extra $6 per month or $0.20 per day I am getting...

Interesting you price it as per day cost to make it seem cheaper, only way to justify it huh?

Upfront price too high? Don't worry, Apple can help with layaway plans (iPhone upgrade program).

... and Air Video HD are two that come to mind right away. ... and I've yet to find a solid, full-featured equivalent to Air Video HD.

If your desktop is windows, enable file sharing on the folder with videos. If on a Mac, enable ssh.

On your Android device, install es file Explorer and MX player. You can now Play all your videos on your computer.

Android has been making way more strides than iOS last few years. Android from three years ago is a completely different experience IOS is the same. I use both platforms my point is they are pretty much equal. So Apple needs to be careful.

No, it’s just better to put costs in perspective. My point is it’s not that expensive.

Or it's about personal value. If you value OS stability and timely updates, then iOS is a better bet. If you are okay without having all the latest monthly patches, then Samsung is great because pure Android often adds what Samsung includes much earlier on. Samsung had split screen multi-tasking all the way back on the S3 and Note 2.

Put it this way, phones are stupidly expensive nowadays. For Canadians, it's like $1300-$1400 for the iPhone X. Why would someone pay that much for a phone in general? Are an OLED screen, Face ID, dual vertical upgraded cameras, wireless charging, no home button, a radical redesigned body worth it? The iPhone 7 and 7+ will be much better values for someone who wants an iPhone flagship at a reduced price here. An iPhone SE is $140 USD at Best Buy right now with AT&T Go Phone. That's much better value for an iPhone.

As someone using an S8, I cannot wait to go back to iOS. The widgets and customization was fun for about a week and then I started to miss iMessage. No, I don't wanna use WhatsApp. All the Android keyboards drive me crazy. Apps look to be of lower quality. Every photo that I take looks oversaturated. The iPhone X will be running iOS so it's better.

Or it could be worse because of a possible design defect lol. Gotta be careful being an early adopter.

I Dont buy it all the major apps are of the same quality. That's already been proven and even the tech sites agree. I doubt you own the S8. Because it's been nothing short of fantastic makes my wife's iPhone 7 plus feel like a dinosaur. And even on the OS level Android looks way more professional as I can tuck my apps away due to the file system, which I think iOS might add not sure.
And now with that chin and the bezel notch plus on the OLED iPhone the screen space is and only will be 5.1 inches look it up. Real good job on IOS lol.

iOS is too cartoony and child's play. The 7+ has a bit of lag too. It looks archaic because of the terrible design Apple recycles too lol.

I don't know why this made me laugh, but it did. It was very Trump.

"If you don't like it, you don't own it. Fake post."
You know why I said that because it just isn't so and the post smells of Android haters from five years ago. Not fake at all. Listen if your happy with IOS go for it. I can use either with no bias at all because we do have both. And apple is behind on many levels even this bezel less design is BS because the screen space is actually 5.1 please sell it to someone else your mind is made up and my posts here won't change that.

The problem is that when we use non-mainstream apps, that's where you usually see the difference in app quality. That's important to some of us.

I used Android until I switched to the 6, and I still gnash my teeth at the fact that on iOS the simplest of tasks like sharing a link to a web link, or a photo with someone has to be a three stage process.

And it's been ten years since the original iPhone OS, and we're still stuck with that antiquated grid of apps. I'm sure that OLED homescreen would look a lot better if it wasn't completely cluttered with icons filling it up.

The only reason I won't go back to Android is the timely and continued updates and the integration of iOS with the hardware. Also resale value.

I don't see why you would be snarky about someone giving proper thought to their financials. Perhaps you have different metrics that work for you, but certainly knowing how many dollars / euros / other currency your more expensive purchases end up costing per day over their lifetime is not just valuable information in itself, but more importantly a sign of someone giving at least that little bit of extra thought to their spending.

My iMac has so far cost me 79 euro cents per day (85 if adjusted for inflation), for instance. Considering the daily use I've gotten out of it it's not only turned out to be a pretty damn cheap purchase in the long run, but it's also been working wonderfully for a considerable amount of time and I've contributed that much less e-waste to the world. There's a lot of ways you can look at your purchases. This is just one of them, and definitely not a bad one.

Perhaps what you're concerned about is that someone, despite calculating this number, spends beyond their means? That's certainly possible with the relatively easy access to various types of credit we have. But in my experience it's usually the people who scoff at maintaining a budget or being otherwise mindful of their personal finances who are quick to berate others for doing so, and have to come up with shaky justifications for their own purchases and spending habbits.

Personal finance and social media smarts are among the more valuable things people can be taught these days. Doesn't matter if you're rich or poor or somewhere inbetween.

Sure, you have continued updates – but which make the iPhone be everytime much shutter and lagged! At this price, I don't (!) want the updates which you indirectly cannot avoid because of the suppressive badges.

As plenty of people are saying, it's really iOS that's the distinguishing factor. The OS is beautiful, the apps for iOS are beautiful, I've got an iPhone, iPad, Macs, Watch, Airpods that all work beautifully together. I don't want to move to Android land. Nothing there excites me.
