Because when I have my headphones plugged in and need to drop the phone into a cupholder or something, I either have to place it upside down or bend the cable on the headphones (which will eventually ruin them).

Simple fix for that, screen flips right side up. Or is it wrong side up?

I've tried Android twice now (Desire HD + Galaxy Nexus) and have always ended up regretting my decision. There will likely be no deal breaker for me with the next iPhone although I'd like it if the battery would last one full day under heavy use (based off previous iPhones, it most likely will last me through the day).

I bought one Android device and ended up returning it after getting buyer's remorse.

I'm assuming if you're putting your phone into a cupholder you're not using the screen or touching the phone. Right? So why does the orientation of the phone matter? ;)

Puts the home button on top which bugs me and I just don't like it.

So... if the phone is upside down, the screen flips... why is this an issue?

I'd hate for it to be wider

Me too. As it is, the extra length is a deal breaker. It will be too bulky to carry comfortably. I like the compact size of the 4S. Since they will look exactly the same but for the length, there's nothing exciting about the bland design.

Seems that Apple may be taking a long term view, keeping the same style year after year as they do with the Laptops. It saves them lots of money & fattens up the already huge margins. They can't resist.

But I can... :D

This sounds extremely (I don't know what word to use here except "Fanboy-ish"), but nothing. I know no matter what I'll be upgrading. I love Apple. I love it's simplicity. I love it's vision of changing the world. And I love it's "classy" products.

So perhaps "fanboy" is the correct title to label myself but I don't back Apple for no reason, they're exceptional in every sense of the word.

Of course I realize that.

So by "they" you mean you won't buy the new iPhone if Facebook doesn't fix their app? That's some odd logic.

You'll be happy to know that they are in the middle of a complete rewrite From HTML5 to Objective-C.

I guess it makes sense if Facebook is that important to him. Even so, I frequent Facebook but that would never be a deal breaker for me, ever.

@Bobby Corwen, Facebook has already said they are in the process of a complete overhaul. An update is in the "near future" that should "help some things out" and the brand new app should launch some time next year. :apple:

Edit: @Geckotek, I guess you already stated that. ;)

I can't tell if you're trolling or not but if it's that important to you, well... to each his own. You should know that Facebook on Android is just as, or close to, as bad as the version on iOS. I hear people at work complain all the time.

Then I'm not going with Android either. I'm going to see what the newest Blackberry offerings are in 2012.

It would be nice for the ios6 to incorporate more of what Jailbroken idevices can achieve without affecting stability.

As for the hardware I agree with not wanting the new iPhone to be wider.

...made by samsung...

Coachinguy

Let's look at the stuff you've listed in your signature:

"16 Gig, iPhone 4, MBP 2.5, MB 2.0, Al iMac 2.8, 20", 32 gig Wifi iPad & iPad 2, Canon 50D"

Samsung seems to be a deal maker rather than a breaker for you.

About a quarter of the parts that make up the iphone 4 is made by samsung is it not? and your original ipad's A4 and ipad2's A5 were manufactured by samsung.
Also is your MBP a late 2006 model? Depending on the luck of the draw you might have a samsung ram module or hdd in your MBP and iMac.

Not really. Used both of them.

iPhone 4S really is just an iPhone 4 with Siri.

Everyone said Siri was going to be huge (when it works), everything else it was hard to tell. Maybe pictures with better saturation and web pages might load 3 seconds faster. All in all, its pretty much the same.
The increase in max storage from 32GB to 64GB wasn't 'hard to tell'.
