Exactly. Apple needs to put the industry leading OS and current CPUs into different sized form factors. The 4 inch is as important as the larger sizes offered by the 6 and 6+.

I'm in the camp that Apple can have 3 sizes. Just make the specs as close as possible (minus the screen resolution). Don't waste my time with left over parts from a generation ago.

I'm just gonna wait for all the bitching to commence when holding up one's wrist to use FaceTime becomes uncomfortable and people's selfies aren't as good as the ones they can take by pulling out their iPhones.

Watch camera equals yet another component to worry about scratching.

I'm damn excited to see what could be introduced next year. 2015 was amazing (with its shares of failures) and hopefully we get an even better result in 2016.

I think 2015 was anything but amazing especially from a hardware standpoint. Nothing but incremental changes (iPhone 6s) or new products looking to fill a niche market (iPad Pro).

I don't expect much improvement in 2016. Apple is in a funk and is stagnating.

I found the following to be a rather interesting article and I certainly agree with most of it:

http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/28/10676272/2015-apples-year-in-beta

The iphone6S even with the latest iOS developer build still doesn't run right, still feels slow, animations lag sometimes, etc. The Apple watch after all the excitement about getting the device I put it on my wrist everyday now because I find it a comfortable watch but I don't even use it per say, can't remember even the last time I unlocked the screen! I think the OS got very little attention and been mostly forgotten! The MacBook Pro, I bought one 13" earlier this year, got stuck with the older generation processor they released a new model with next generation processor a few months later. And just got a new 15" this month, come early next year likely they will finally release an updated 15" with newer processors worth the wait and perhaps get rid of the so called crappy AMD discrete graphics on this one and put on a NVIDIA high end work horse in there. You just can't win this year....

Dump.
Intel.
Please.

Happy New Year, y'all
ARM isn't strong enough to run Mac desktops or anything more powerful than the 12" MacBook yet (and the Core M is faster than the A9X on a number of the benchmarks - GeekBench isn't everything). Remember there are now 10 years of OS X apps written for Intel that would either need to be re-written or run in emulation to work on an ARM-based Mac. I don't think Apple will switch to ARM anytime soon.

I'd argue the change from the 6 to the 6S was more significant than the 5S to the 6. The 6 changed the size, but the A8 wasn't all that much faster than the 5S. The 7000 series aluminum is a lot more durable, too. Apple isn't in a funk. Technology moves in fits and starts. Was Apple in a funk and stagnating between 2002 and 2007? All they did was release variants of iPods to fill niche markets, and make incremental changes to the Mac line.

The hardware doesn't need significant improvement right now. It's software where Apple needs to focus more. For instance, iPad is at the limit of what it can accomplish with the current form of iOS. The hardware is fine. Apple Watch is clearly Version 1 right now, but we know from Apple's moves from the A5 to A6 to A7 what is possible (and likely) from S1 to S2 to S3. I think we'll see a significant hardware update to Watch 2 this year, at which point the emphasis will return to software where it should be.

I'm hoping Apple has a secret lab with a stonking ARM chip that will cream Intel. A geek can dream, yeah?

I think they need a new OS line of iPads. Like iPad Pro can be a hybrid OS of OSX & iOS. Then you can have your small 4" iPhone for texting & listening streaming Apple Music and your iPad for web browsing and your Pro for stuff you would normally do on your MBP. Then a RMBP for people that really need one.
Oh and don't forget your Apple Watch 2 that remote turns on your New Apple Car!!!! Bam! I wrote this while eating a honey crisp apple.

I thought exactly the same. The iPad pro is a placeholder for an enterprise edition of iOS. It's waiting for that to happen!

I really feel that Apple needs to do a complete redesign on the Mac line-up, including the iMacs, and Macbook, Macbook Air, and Macbook Pro. Although the devices certainly look amazing, it has been several years now, and it is starting to feel old. With sales declining, I feel like a redesign might boost sales a little, and help keep computers a prominent part of Apple's business. I love their phones, and know that they are the biggest part of Apple as a company, but personally, I like the Macs better than any other product available from Apple, and it would be a shame to see that go away.

If sky lake isn't used in the new MacBook Pro's I'm going to be very disappointed!

More waiting....

For 2016 I'd like to see Apple being willing to steer things a little bit regarding their desktop computer line, instead of just keep equipping their current models with a bit faster gpu and cpu. I'd like to see some innovation like they used to.

I'm curious as to what they do with the Mac Pro, Mac Mini, Macbook and iPad Pro 2, I am sure I will be drooling but will only pick up one of the latter two if school demands it. I don't know how they can improve upon the iPad Mini 4 - lovely device.

And I hope to all things nice they get their software back in order.

I know this thread is about next year. However, I would like to reflect a bit on last year. Apple has made some significant progress in IOS and OS X stability, speed, and features along with some nice new products and hardware upgrades. A toast to Apple for ending 2015 on an upward positive note and a challenge to make 2016 even better. Cheers!

I am pretty excited about half of the products and below is my secret plan :)

- Apple watch - was very tempted to get one, but kept telling myself to wait for 2nd gen - at this point I am guessing the wait time for me is downhill so that is great :) I will definitely get watch 2
- iPhone 7 - I hate iPhone 6/6s general design and will dump my 6S for a new and hopefully better design as soon as possible.
- iPad - I have a work mini 4, so I will definitely not be spending money on ipad air 3 for myself. If the bump over air 2 is significant, I will most likely sell my wife's air 2 16gb and replace it with the new air 3
- macbook pro - my work Lenovo is due for a replacement early next year. Will hang onto it till new Macbook Pro comes out and if it still makes sense for me, I might switch my work laptop to the new macbook pro 15
- ATV 5 - not a big fan of ATV4, so 5 would have to wow me in order for me to purchase it - so far I am happy with ATV3.

Overall my purchasing outlook does not look that bad financially speaking :)

I'll be delighted plunk down my bucks on a Apple Watch with more health monitors. The first iMac was revolutionary. The second was actually great. Ditto the first iPod, iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air... The next gen Watch should be a marked improvement.

This is, hands down, one of the most ignorant and asinine comments I have ever read on this site. You should have the decency to be ashamed of yourself. But of course you don't. Otherwise you wouldn't have posted it.
Enjoy being you.
Not my fault you're a fan boy if I praised Jobs you wouldn't have had any issues with what I'm saying. The guy was a horrible person. You should have the decency to accept that. But of course you don't. Other wise you wouldn't have posted it. Enjoy being you

Yawn. This is already common knowledge. iPhone 7 Plus will be a rebadged iPad mini (same form factor). Apple iWatch Pro will be an iPod nano plus a wristband.

Keep smoking the Apple crack. As long as Timmy is sitting on that chair, he'll be the cause of long term damage in the years to come.

iOS is not exactly what it's cracked up to be and putting that on iPad is a big mistake. It works for a phone but not iPad. Scaling and slapping iOS across all devices reeks of weak sauce and laziness.
You got it all wrong. It's the cyanide. It's not iOS for everyone, it's the new OS. Timmy will keep investors happy and that's it. iOS could be ran on top of any other if it is well done.
