I realise it is still in beta but you should have an idea about stability to give me a general idea at this stage. If it is not worth it I guess I'll stick to Firefox 2.0.0.12.

its really hard to answer your question since we all have different surfing habit, however, so far for me, firefox 3 beta/nightly is very solid.

I think you should try out for yourself after beta 4 rolls out.

I've been running Beta 3 from the DMG, and I'm not sure about it. Maybe I'm so accustomed to FF 2 that I don't like anything different, but I hope it grows on me.

well, :), beta 4 will be a significant improvement over beta 3.

Still my main wish is that zoom zooms!! and doesnt go full screen. I hated it when i first got the mac, but now, its one of the smartest things IMO. But I have to admit, FF3 is pretty damn good.

previously when bookmark bar is disabled, firefox looks like this

notice the color sudden change to lighter on tab bar.

now it has been fixed.

Excellent news, I love the new Keyhole theme on Mac OS X. Firefox looks a LOT better now, and I'm sure it matches some of Safari's best features too :D

I'm a little wary about trying the betas though - especially since I rely on a few extensions for Firefox that may not work with the new version.

Here's a list of the extensions I use:
Greasemonkey
Stylish
Bookmark Sync and Sort
Adblock Plus

FireFox 3.0 Beta 5 is now out - downloading now :)

Great thread, BTW, Clevin

no problem.

Btw, I don't think beta 5 is out yet.

Adblock Plus

I think Greasemonkey, stylish, adblock plus all support firefox recent nightly (beta5pre)

I dont think bookmark sync and sort is ready yet.

I found adblock+, altho support beta5pre, has some glitch.

Oops, my bad - I clicked n download and the download window started, but is not doing anything - then Beta 4 it is.

Apple-ogies :)

Edit: Just checked:

Darn, Bookmark Sync and Sort is the extension I wanted most to be ready... if there's an alternative I can use that at least syncs bookmarks (don't really care about sorting) that DOES work with Firefox 3, I will be trying out Beta 4 very soon ;)

...mmm..., I found several bookmark synchronizer, lol, none of them are firefox 3 compatible yet....

Im using online bookmarks protopage.com tho.

Looking at your screenshot it appears that it was a pre-release of Beta 5 that you tried to download.

Ok, ta - I have not installed yet - will do that tomorrow.

Edit: couldn't wait and installed now :)

This is FAST!!

Thanks, Clevin - I'm liking it!! That tweak seems to load things EVEN faster! I just want to have all my fave add-ons on FF3 now! But at least I have No Script - amazing stuff!

BTW do you have this feature - ie lines missing here on MR, see attached pic ??

lol, so it is beta5pre....

ps, try this to "speed" it up even more (at least feels like faster even if in reality it doesn't change much....) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/447532/

i hate to tweak more, so I won't suggest others, since I have mixed results about those.

anyway, Tree is CLOSED !, which means beta 5 RC is soon to come... and final, hopefully

Sounds interesting, but it is "an early prototype"

not even in Beta yet. Might be very unstable.

I use it, never had a crashing problem or anything. Although (and this is a big one), i cant get it to sync between browser. I think im doing something wrong, havent really looked at it though. Any one got an idea?

Using beta 4 now and I'm liking it a lot. Little things like better handling of search engines, excellent new url bar and improved tab behavior are always welcome. I was also positively surprised that there are now two sets of (back/forward) icons.

But my question is as follows: As Firefox 3 (beta 4) now supports OS X native spellchecker, how do I add multiple languages in the text field context menu? At first there was only Finnish, then I changed the language in mail.app to English and it changed to English in Firefox as well. How can I have both?

I'm asking this here as I don't know whether I'm just missing something, whether this is a Firefox bug, an OS X thing, or something else.

Thanks.
