Did you guys try unplugging the cable and plugging it back in? I had to do that to get the new itunes to recognize the phone.
Tried that, same 13014 error as everyone else. But, it looks like the phone is actually syncing, and only when the sync is finished it gives the error. Or perhaps is says "sync is complete" because it encountered an error.

Hasn't adversely affected the phone and my calendars at least were synced.

Same issue here. I restarted iTunes and that seemed to "fix" it.

Mine is happily RE-Copying all the songs down but seems like it'll be ok.

Ipod Touch 2G

Sync Ipod
Disconnect Ipod
Close Itunes
Update Itunes
Launch Itunes (updates library)
Plug in Ipod
Sync ok but pushing down all songs again..still waiting...

Any word if this fixes AppleTV and Remote.app connection issues? Since upgrading to iTunes 8, I haven't been able to get Remote to work or my AppleTV to sync with iTunes.

Anyone else?

The iPhone "(iPhone name)" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13014).

Just installed the new download and now my phone will no longer sync

Same error, but after shutting down iTunes and restarting, everything works fine

Does this version allow you to hide the Genre column while browsing?

I don't see that they added option back to the preferences, which I think is a shame! C'mon Apple, don't take functionality away.

If you are on OS X you can hide the Genre column by typing this into a Terminal window:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool FALSE

If you want the Genre column back, just reverse it with TRUE:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool TRUE

If you are on Windows, I think it's a little more tricky....maybe a Google search would have a solution.

some really good changes are:

1. hd downloads now end with ...(HD).m4v
2. sd downloads now hidden for those with hd counterparts

i'll wait to update this. After hearing about the iPhone problems with it, i'll hold off.

It's not that bad actually. I think I jumped the panic gun :) Sounds like we've found that a restart of iTunes (my MacBook Pro in my case) will fix the error!

Is the Genius icon new?

In 8.0 was the Genius icon in the Play Screen?

I'm not sure what to call the data window exactly, look above the "time remaining" on the right side of the song scrubber for the genius icon...
that is what I am talking about.

bug.

i thought it was going to fix a bug thats present on the iPhone, but it didnt. if you have 2 songs of the same name, like an original recording and a remix version, and you start a genius playlist from one of them, it'll start a genius playlist with the other song.

That's definitely new.
