Here's a specific case. I was just on a road trip and used the map screen in CarPlay to find a gas station. To get directions to the gas station, I had to cancel the directions to my final destination. It will be great to add a pit stop to get gas, coffee, etc and then have it resume my original trip after without having to re-enter it.
That is not current behavior on maps. For gas stations you can already add those to your current route. I am pretty sure I did that on a recent road trip

I just tested this…you can add gas stations in currently. As well as restaurants and a few other destinations.

Wish Apple would update the Apple apps standalone instead of a full iOS version, no reason this can’t be updated to run on iOS 15, iPhone 7 Plus.

no Police traps, better use Waze

Perhaps do your research. I receive “Speed Check” Alerts quite frequently when I’m commuting on highways in NYS.

Remember, if no user reports it, it won’t pop up. Just like Waze relies on self reporting. Frequently receive “Hazard Alerts” for dead deer, and disabled cars on the side of the road.

This feature was added in 14.5. 😉

Does your speedometer not work?
I never understand responses like this. Is someone else not allowed to want a feature that you don't see the need for? My TomTom standalone GPS has my speed on it. I like this because it allows me to see both the speed limit and my current speed in a glance. I miss this every time I am using Apple Maps. It is about convenience, and the less I need to look at various screens while I am driving, the safer I can be. Maps has the data it needs to calculate the speed at which are traveling, and there is plenty of room on the display.

So there will be a Pause button !! 💕
Have you tried this detour function ?

I have not tried that, no. The new add a stop feature is just that much better, though.

Yes, there are Pause and Resume buttonS in iOS 16.

hope apple will add some trees in the postapocalyptic desertic world...

Nonsense. Anybody can switch brands if they're serious. I get it though... it's much easier to complain rather than step up.
Of course everybody can switch brands. I can’t even understand why you come here to post this. It’s like putting on your big boy pants, pointing at the sky and telling the world it’s blue.

And of course OP can ditch Apple because a lot of features are not available in Norway. But why shouldn’t he complain on an Apple forum about Apple not translating its Apple products which he as an Apple customers paid a lot of premium Apples for?

If enough customers complain, Apple will take notice.

On a public forum? That's laughable! And please, not while I'm drinking milk.

10% of Apple's customer base switching to a different brand? THAT will get their attention. Or even writing letters to Apple executives. But no. That would require a tiny bit of effort that most will not have the motivation to muster up.

Much easier to have a good whine on public forum and call it a day. And in the end, nothing improves or happens. It's the new normal, and a badge of honor letting the world know how aggrieved someone is.

"I can’t even understand why you come here to post this."

It's not that difficult understanding.

did they do anything to the crash report. It really needs to go by distance instead of time when asking if its still there because if stuck in the traffic caused by the crash, it will timeout before I get there to see if it just traffic or the crash is still there..
This 100%. All of the hazard confirmations vanish by the time I approach them. Yesterday there was a hazard on the interstate and I marked it as not being there, then later saw a truck pulled over. I don't know whether that was the reported hazard either, there should be some description, a passenger can easily do that for the driver.

I also desperately wish Apple Maps had first party reviews right in the app
They have limited first party reviews, using a thumbs up/down system. This is on a fast food joint down the street:

I do wish to see the end of Yelp in Maps however. It takes forever to update the reviews within Maps. I like the binary of the thumbs up/down because people only seem to review horrendous or wonderful experiences. If they add the text box next with a force touch action to mark as relevant/spam that'd be the cherry on top for me. I don't need a novel about your experience or your political opinions when you're buying a burger.

I run into issues with miss labeled business and roads on Apple Maps. Takes them forever to correct once it’s reported as incorrect.
I had that problem with Google Maps, and it's the reason I switched to Apple Maps.
  1. For over ten years, my address was listed as in a different city. (My location was accurate.)
  2. The street I lived on had the wrong name. Pizza delivery never found our house; even when I told them Google Maps was wrong and explained, the driver would ignore the special instructions.
  3. A restaurant about a block away was listed as over 30 miles away.
  4. Another restaurant, 30 miles away, was listed as two blocks away from my place.
Compared to that, Apple Maps' obsession with pretending I couldn't turn left at a local intersection seemed pretty minor.

(I believe the restaurants are still wrong on Google Maps, but everything else has been corrected.)

All of this doesn't contradict or invalidate your experience, of course. Quality of both services depends on region.

If we’re not allowed to discuss and complain here about all things Apple, I suggest we all shut up.

The forum is now closed. All hail to Apple.

I've never seen this for any place I've ever looked up. I can rate places, but I never see any ratings for anything, except for Yelp.

Interesting. I've seen these proprietary ratings, Yelp, and OpenTable. Maybe more review sources are available in cities 🤷‍♂️

Can’t believe it took this long to implement a feature as basic as multi stop. It is one of the biggest reasons why I keep a third party map app on my iPhone, even if I’d prefer to stay on Apple Maps
I use Waze for crowd-sourced information in the foreground. However, Apple Maps does a better job with anticipated directions.

Apple Maps is worthless when casually driving. I don't need to know how to get to most of my local destinations. Apple maps go in stupid mode unless there's a destination entered.

Waze follows you wherever you travel, with or without a destination. Waze offers crowd-sourcing information regardless of a destination.

With a destination, Apple Maps does much better with anticipated directions in the background with Waze in the foreground.

Your vehicle speedometer is not accurate. The USA vehicle manufacturers must indicate 1 MPH below true speed. GPS speed is much more accurate.
It is the other way around. A car’s speedometer is supposed to show slightly higher than your actual speed so you are less likely to go faster than the posted limit.

They finally fixed the one thing I always have complained about. When looking at maps there are markers showing the business type. #1, no matter how far in you zoomed, the icons would stay the same small very hard to read size. Also, if you intuitively tapped the icon to see what the business is, it would just zoom back out. Now when you click on it, it enlarges and shows the type and store name.

If only your car could tell you that. 😛
With my old Windows Phone it was handy to see my current speed along side the map, not to mention that it could warn me that the speed limited changed and I could adjust accordingly. Plus for biking it would be nice to see my current speed while I'm on my route.

Speaking of Windows Phone it would be nice if Apple Maps added offline map support. Earlier this year I was trying to set a route in a data dead-zone and Apple Maps was completely useless.

I tried to indicate that I was mostly joking.
