Just back - laden with bags - from the farmers' market.

Vegetables (onions, leeks, carrots, celery, parsnips, potatoes, garlic, parsley, fennel, salad leaves - all organic), eggs (organic, free range), fruit (apart from oranges, mostly seasonal fruit such as apples - including cooking apples, and plums), meat (organic chicken thighs and drumsticks, oxtails, bacon rashers, sausages), cheese, (Gorgonzola, Roquefort, Brie, Comte, Taleggio), plus French bread and French apple tart.

Now, the debate is what to have for tonight: Blue cheese, organic cream, pasta, and salad leaves with a robust dressing sounds about right, something tasty, soothing, and not too taxing to cook, but a proper cooked meal, all the same.

Sunday's cooking will be very different, something nice and slow and soothing and relaxing - perhaps a Spanish chicken - with chorizo - and rice dish, a version of paella.

It’s another rainy day here. The girls are sleeping innocently not knowing their spa day starts in less than an hour. 😱

Heh I hope they and you eventually had fun... do you take them somewhere or do the honors yourself? I could count on a few battle scars trying to get my girls (cats, not dogs) into the cat carriers if we were going somewhere, unless I ambushed the most reluctant one and the other one was snoozing upstairs somewhere unawares, so I could repeat the process stealthily.

My own spa day substitute this morning (a quick cuppa coffee and something for breakfast, some chores and then a shower and off for some re-up on groceries) was abruptly revised to NADA, AND GO BACK TO BED when I turned on the water in the kitchen at 5am to refill a filtering pitcher, and... nothin' happened.

Twelve hours later and a segment of the water mains down in the village has been replaced, so then on to dealing with the restart of waterflow and the air bubbles and a few rust spasms and so forth. Ugh, ugh.

Some of those mains are a hundred years old, we're lucky not to have minnows in a glass of tap water, probably, since part of the mains are actually laid under a creek that cuts through the village. Every time the mains have to be opened in that section, the EPA or the state DEC must be present because we're in part of the two watershed areas that eventually feed the NYC reservoirs; there are regulations that apply to both re-opening any local water supply system and potentially "interfering" with protected waters.

So... much gratitude for the couple bottles of iced tea I had in the fridge and plenty of bottled water. Much happier now too that all the facilities one takes for granted are back in working order. I'm going to be using bottled water for a couple days before trusting Brita filters to clear any stray minnows or trout out of the regular tap water again lol.

My problem now of course is that it's after 7pm and I've just consumed two cups of Brazilian coffee. I'm going to bail now so I don't write any more novels in here tonight behind all that caffeine... Ta!

They go to a puppy spa almost walking distance away. I don’t have the heart or skills to do it myself.

Many moons ago while visiting my parents a cat showed up in the dead of winter. They took it in so I thought I’d give it a bath. Actually I brought it into the shower with me. Omg. That thing’s claws were spinning like a chain saw. 🙈 I tossed it over the shower door and that was it. For the next many years that cat hated 😡 me.

I get that routine. My porch cat hissed at me for 10 months projecting that I was like whoever may have tangled with her sometime, even though I fed her every morning. But she was maybe partly feral and anyway seemed to have multiple "owners" around the 'hood as she only spent overnights and the breakfast hours on my deck and then vanished for her appointed rounds, whatever they were.

Earlier in the city once I had a cat that for some unknown reason took extreme exception to one of my brothers, who liked cats and had not mistreated this one of mine. The bro was staying at my place while he finished his degree up at Columbia. Anyway the cat was quite big and heavy and used to hang out under a credenza and ambush my brother as he walked by, literally jumping out and leaping up on his back or slashing at his legs. The bro used to drape an old army blanket around himself as protection if he was wearing shorts or just a mid-calf robe.

Suddenly though, all that ambush behavior stopped. I saw the cat snuggled up to the bro sometimes on the couch. I was going to school nights myself and working days so I had no clue what was happening in my apartment when I wasn't there, but I did notice that change and one night asked like what's up with this now? such buddies? and the bro kinda shrugged and mumbled something like I dunno, guess the cat finally got over hating me, thank god, what a nightmare.

DECADES later... the bro confessed that in desperation he had begun feeding that cat a lot of the 90% lean ground beef I'd bought for us to use in spaghetti sauce, and the cat of course fell in love. Meanwhile the bro was shorting beef in the spaghetti sauce that he cooked for us both as he had more free time than I did. I never noticed the change in the pasta sauce back then, but finally realized that's why that cat started throwing hissy fits about food he was served after my brother finished school and left my place.

That was me last two nights. Had a couple of good nights sleep which helped.

Today I have paperwork to check and sign for our house sale. Not fun but necessary.

Hoping to get it done by November (the move not the paperwork!).

Yes, considering where you were last week, this is fun. Great fun and happy days.

Your offer has been accepted for the place you like, and you are in position to sell your place to someone who can buy without the necessity of a chain in place. This is all great news.

Agreed. It Couldn’t have worked out better to be honest.
Yes our mood is much improved.

Actually, it has worked out superbly; you have been able to make an offer - which has been accepted - for the house you liked the most of all of those you viewed (with one possible exception), and you are now able to sell your own house without being troubled by whether the links on a chain will separate, as there is no need for a chain.

This is terrific news. It could hardly be better.

@Apple fanboy glad the move is working out.

I am just trying to be grateful as Sunday night comes to a close.

I hope everyone else is doing well.
Thanks. Trying to be grateful is a good way of looking at life.

It’s Monday morning here already. Dark and wet.
As well as work I have lots of things to do today.
Appoint a surveyor.
Speak to our mortgage advisor.
Sort out some life Insurance.
Send some documents to the solicitor.
Dentist appointment.

That will keep me busy.

But a busy day in a good cause.

Thanks. A scrape and polish. I don’t have too many issues with my teeth.

Well, good luck with the dental visit.

For me, the most pressing dental issue of the past decade was the removal of two impacted wisdom teeth; other than that, it has been some fillings (usually repairing fillings), reconstruction of a tooth, and the usual polishing and scraping.

And the very best of luck with the house planning and preparation work.
