Not a fan of cleaning either, but at the same time, it makes me feel like I am doing something proactive for us. So I feel the urge.

I'd rather not have people in the house either, but my sister has had these folks come in for 20 years.

I'd rather just cook and leave everything else to the "professionals".

annnnnd... I also fractured or dislocated my right knee in that fall. 😡Just noticed a rather pointy bump on my knee. I remember the hospital said they did not think a knee x ray was necessary since I could walk on it.

Thankfully, like my arm, there is little pain. It looks much worse than it feels. Will have the orthopedic doctor x ray and look at it on Tuesday. Unlike my mom though, I won't ignore treatment, if needed.

Sorry to hear that. Hope the little pain you do have doesn’t last too long.

Best of luck with knee and arm, and try to take care of yourself.

This is the sort of thing that can happen all too easily when you are stressed and tired as a result of shouldering much of the responsibility for caring for others.

Gets worse as you get older. Injuries and pains that is.
🤗Been there, flushed that.😋

@Apple fanboy been dealing with pain, illness and injuries since my teens. Nothing new (though hospital visits are). Will use the time at Physical Therapy to learn balance exercises and such, after the arm is healed.

Actually, I think that it is more a case that healing takes a bit longer as you get older.

Women - in general, not all, but many - tend to have dealt with - or have had to deal with - various pains ever since puberty.

Fun weekend :)

Watched a ton of movies, caught up on a few shows, knocked out a good batch of code, wrote a little, read a bit (like for pleasure vs. tech BS ...), lots of good food and beverage this weekend - and an insane HIIT [~908cal] on Saturday to burn some of it off :D - before we're back to "dial back" mode for the weekday. Had a crazy long game of Mario Party, the little G took the win in the last two rounds :D

Speaking of our awesome G ... there's 3 math levels, Standard, Advanced, and Honors, she's started middle school in Advanced, quickly killed it, wants more difficult work, moving to Honors level for 7th grade. Honors is pretty serious, it's like for hardcore math students - who love math - about 20 7th graders in a school of ~800 (6/7/8th) and it's full on Algebra I (not "algebra" or some "pre" variant, I looked at the textbook), which also required moving into Honors level science where they'll be doing intro physics, some basic chem, wow.

In just a few days, our builder got all the old deck and fence cleared out, all the new posts cemented in (laser leveled!), and the entire back run completed (sides going up starting tomorrow). This wasn't pre-fab fence panels, this is custom shadow box with thick, highly quality pressure/ground-treated pine for slats/cross-beams, it looks fantastic, it's perfectly uniform, he used super high grade nails/retainers (the HD or Lowes fence looked like a shipping palette for tomatoes ...).

Really stoked about the fence/deck/etc., it's been a long time, our house was always a special place, we live here, work here, been through a lot with storms, dealing with "other" things that required us to backburner this, but it's looking great :)

My colleague at work had a similar story recently. His next door neighbor came and knocked on the door and said you have blocked the drain and it’s all over the garden. He said well how do you know it’s mine? Because it contains lady things and I haven’t used those for years cane the reply!

Thanks. Hope the house is continuing to come along.

As long as the knee is fine and I can walk on it, I can roll with minor pain easy.
I feel your pain, I broke my ankle just over a decade ago and put up with minor aches duirng the change of season for quite a while.

My hand injury is similar though of course the pain was worse.

Half of my family is in Milan, so they are basically quarantined at home due to the coronavirus panic... looks like binge watching is helping their morale, and I am told the kids are *very* sad that schools are closed for the rest of the week........

Well I'm sure the kids will get over it.

Anyway a really scary situation I'm sure...all the best for your family.

Memories of my mother preparing homemade pancakes for us, when we were children, on Shrove Tuesday.

Once, around fifteen years ago, because I liked the thought of the tradition, she treated me to pancakes again, sometime during the week of Shrove Tuesday.

Happy memories.
Funny I have just sad memories of Shrove Tuesday. Just reminds me of my daughter.
I used to cook them for her.

Well, some of the other traditional feasts sort of crumple under the weight of expectations, but Shove Tuesday was always a schoolday, and - as long as the batter was allowed some time to rest (and I remember it "resting" in its bowl - though I little realised what that was all about as a child, just that it had been prepared in advance, shortly after I returned home from school, the ancient, battered cook-book open at a page, and my mother instructing me to read out ingredients and instructions to her; indeed, I seem to recall that a little grated lemon rind was also added to the batter, and it was then allowed to "rest" for a while, before being cooked), it was not a recipe, or meal, that gave rise to too much stress.

While it was faintly reminiscent of a celebration, or feast, it carried little of the weight of expectation (or the extensive work, for that matter) of many of the other feasts, and therefore, was always a relaxed and enjoyable meal.

Certainly, I retain happy memories of the day.

What is on my mind is the Apostrophe, a ghostwriter friend of mine who writes for two well-known novelists is visiting this week to gather background on personal observations of Africa. I brought up the subject of the 'correct' use of apostrophes. She just laughed and told me I could have consulted the Apostrophe Protection Society, but it has disbanded because it had failed in its mission. At first, I thought she was shining me on, she referred me to the web page listed below. It did appeal to my warped sense of humor.
