After seeing empty shelves at my local store on the weekend, I was pleased to find a new supply today (toilet paper and paper towel). The pasta was still somewhat depleted but should be ok very soon.

There's a few hundred pounds of meat in the freezers. Preserved fruits. Cleaned and frozen veggies that can freeze well. Maybe 300 lb of dried goods. Should be good for the next 8 months assuming this doesn't blow over with a weather change.

Plenty of booze in the house along with beer and wine. I've bought 8 gallons of hand sanitizer, 15 gallons of rubbing alcohol, 10 gallons of hydrogen peroxide. I've got 3 sets of new RO filter material, 120ish bottles of water just in case, toilet paper to last 6 months, generator fuel mix, general disinfectant sprays, disinfectant concentrate, etc.

I'd been slowly stocking up since December because I just knew this was going to happen.

geez zenny try not to mix any of that stuff up or you'll launch the big one in sunny cali. !!

Working a bit, while we watch 28 Days Later ... (spooky) Nice combo of Danny Boyle (director), Alex Garland (writer), John Murphy (music), and an amazing cast.

This morning I blasted into the grocery right at opening, 7a, already about 20 cars in the parking lot. I was pretty tactical avoiding people, had like 20 wipes, got in and out in 20 minutes. Scored a corned beef brisket, cabbage, and some flour (or soda bread) - so we've got a good St. Paddy's meal on deck, meat has been cooking since 8a! Yukon gold potatoes, cabbage and beer (Little Somethin'-Somethin') added about 3-4 hours ago.

OMG, the wife's soda bread is __so__good__! In fact, I have to share a pic (or two), butter, couldn't find Apple butter this year, but did get some delicious orange marmalade ...

Eggs and TP were the two sort of major products missing from the shelves on my quick 14 Days Later trip this morning. Hahaha, there was this woman, standing in front of the empty egg shelves, just starring, like she was waiting for a matter transport device or maybe just trying to create them out of the ether by pure force of will.

I wish you could taste on the internet.

Yes! I wish I could share!! The corned beef brisket looks amazing too, and it's like a 4 pounder, holy smokes, we'll be eating this for days.

Eggs are easy to come by. My neighbor keeps chickens and there’s a hole in the fence!

Proprietor down to the general store got a phone call while I was cashing out my order one afternoon about somebody's Angus calf getting out in the road. "Oh that's one of Joe's again, he ends up giving away half his burgers on the hoof, and just for gettin' the other half of them returned unharmed. Must have flunked arithmetic... or fence fixing."

Eggs and other perishables have me baffled. I can see non perishables being hoarded.

Pretty good at chemicals and storing them far apart from each other in external containers to protect them. 70% alcohol is what we use often around the house whenever we need to disinfect something. The Lysol sprays are great but their odor lingers, even the more pleasant smelling ones. The alcohol doesn't damage most surfaces and evaporates nicely.

Eggs do last a long time under refrigeration, and before you quite start to wonder, hard boil them and then they last in the fridge another long time. It's possible people are shopping for others in their family or neighborhood now; that happens around here a lot. No one figures on having money for sure in near term, so if you only need a few things someone else can try to get them and leave them on your porch for money you leave out if they call before heading back with the stuff. Saves gas and people-bumping trouble...

On my mind today, gratitude for how some things keep chugging along... I got my little "charm quilt" couch throw back from the long arm quilter today, or at least my sister has it for me when we next meet up at her place, after this virus thing simmers down. Angie was returning something she'd quilted for my sister so she took both items along.

Right so the two of them met up around halfway from each other's houses, pulled into a convenience store parking lot, quilts and receipts got tossed in plastic bags into the back of my sister's SUV, checks in a plastic bag got tossed into Angie's car, no elbow bumps, big smiles and farewell waves after each wiped clean the door handles of the other's vehicle!

When my sister got home she went inside and and then "showed the cats the garage" for awhile so she could spread out my quilt on a bed for a little photo session.

Eventually I'll get back up there for "a sister sewing day"... to trim off the excess batting around edges of the quilt and affix a binding, then wrap it up to give to a sister-in-law to surprise her. Angie does such beautiful work, this one was freehanded with just leaves and swirls. So not only is it "charm" style -- in the sense of all 288 squares are different prints-- the quilting is essentially "charm" as well. And she charged me only 3c a sq inch. Doing it myself I'd be on square number 17 and meanwhile consuming too much coffee on breaks.

Thankfully, somewhat distracted by completing tax forms* for the new job (I've got the rest of the paperwork scanned and filled out). I am not surprised new job are being very proactive and already are talking about my starting remotely, which is fine by me.

*Um, I don't think I sent my accountant all the info...I better go check that.

There were Blue Jays in our tree out front yesterday and today. And yesterday's Jay did that cute, angsty dance they do (Bobbing up and down while squawking), which made me laugh and smile. I am glad to see them, especially now.

The day have finally come for my aunt to pass over. I'm extremely hurt and sad because she was my favorite aunt and we were pretty close. I went to see her in the hospital and what I saw was so heartbreaking... she was fighting for her life trying to breathe. I just broke down I couldn't see her like that. I don't want her to suffer and I can't tell if she is right now or not. I just want to hold her and tell her I love her and how I was so proud of her for never giving up.

Heh, yeah but that only worked for me for awhile... since then in moments of unease I usually settle for potato chips. Those go right to my hips and stay there for all of my remaining days on the planet, apparently. I caved in and ordered some chips from Instacart the other day. I'm afraid to open them because I know I'll eat not just one or one dozen...

If it wasn't for these memes, I'd be screaming by now. I'm so over this.

Self isolating. In bed with a cup of Yorkshire tea, reading my book and listening to classic FM on my Sonos.

Still feel fine but my daughter is off today with a “tight” chest.

@AppleFanatic10 sorry about your Aunt.
@LizKat yes, my diet has gone into the sewer which partially explains my delightful mood. Just want a day where I do not snip at mom who is in so much pain and I am not handling that very well. 🙁
@Septembersrain hope you are okay. Speaking of memes and things

Funny

@AVBeatMan hope your daughter is okay.
