I'm an introvert, god knows I spend enough time on the internetz, and I have only offcially been working part-time as it is (though I do get overtime, for example accompanying our class to Greece for two weeks in February). In fact the train ride to my work is something I look forward to.

Still pretty annoyed at a lot of celebrities, "influencers" etc. telling everyone to stay home when they have nice homes with big yards etc. Like one former classmate here who has one and is making judgemental posts about panic buying (can't disagree) and how ncie ti is to work form home with photos of her terrace. Not to mention the disinformation and panic in general. Must. Resist. Temptation.

Anyway sending positive vibes to you all and especially @AppleFanatic10

Positive vibes right back at you @decafjava and everyone else here.

Very well said, both of you from a fellow introvert.

From what I read yesterday eggs + flour = pasta, and I've also read about flour being hoarded.

All those bread machines in the back of kitchen base cupboards suddenly gettin' dusted off and brought front and center... but then: "all I have to to do get some flour and stuff..."

I've read that it's the little bodegas and general stores that still have had some staple goods after warehouse club and supermarket shelves got wiped out. One wonders how it might have been if we still had more general stores and tiny delis and bakeries right around the corner. It's great that there has actually been an upswing in small bakery-cafes in recent years, hope they'll be able to tough out the lack of assured supplies just now.

Patience is advisedly the watchword for us all while supply and demand adjust to a lot of different forces at the moment. Easier said than done when money's not coming in from shuttered jobs. As for supply and demand: The young guy who shopped my recent Instacart order was attentive regarding "out of that too, what there is instead is..." and quite creative in his suggestions for substitutions of a few items on the regular re-up list of produce when even my alternative choice was out of stock.

I liked it very much that he seemed unfrazzled by it all, just slogged through the list and texted me workaround ideas. In his place I might have run screaming out of the store. I tried to make my appreciation clear via a bump in the tip, and have ended up feeling comfortably back in the days of shopping in a village general store where "we have what we have, which is everything from barn boots to birthday cards but maybe not all in stock at once."

Hmmmm… :)

I needed some flour to replenish my sourdough starter… I cannot find flour in Bath for love nor money. Just empty shelves white with flour dust to show where the packets were.
Luckily I had a half a packet of cake flour and some Rye flour… that will have to do for now. Luckily I treat my starters very mean so they know what to expect of me. They live for months in the back of the fridge under an inch or so of very sour hooch (love that term).

:)

@AppleFanatic10 sorry about your Aunt.
@LizKat yes, my diet has gone into the sewer which partially explains my delightful mood. Just want a day where I do not snip at mom who is in so much pain and I am not handling that very well. 🙁
@Septembersrain hope you are okay. Speaking of memes and things

Funny

@AVBeatMan hope your daughter is okay.
Hope you and your Mum are getting along.

We are trying. She made me laugh pretty hard (She was on the phone with a friend who exaggerates and was going on about the virus.) Said friend spoke in a serious tone, "It will pass at such and such a time..." And not missing a beat, mom replies, "May the Coronavirus pass before you do!" 🤣😂🤣

I was already laughing at something on Twitter and just lost it.

So our sense of humor is very much intact.:)

Hope you are well.

All good thanks. Had a busy day of DIY. But another day closer to moving into our bedroom and getting my home office back. Just as well as I’m going to need it!

Best of luck, but at least your sense of humour - and that of your mother - seem to be intact and fully functioning.

Not even in a good deli?

Bizarre; bonkers - it is not as though the nation (or, other nations) have suddenly transformed into serious (and competent) bakers.

Thanks, we are starting to "get" each other again.

Hope you and everyone here are well.

Of course, Apple masochist here is looking at the 4th gen iPad Pro in hopes that the GPU spec bump (and hopefully more RAM), fix the touch irresponsiveness issue.

I would buy the higher specc'd MBA if the 16gb of RAM was already included.

Hoping the iMacs get some love this week.

Haha! Bath has two fine Cheese shops… butchers, fishmongers etc… but no Deli to speak of. Anyway. I am off to go try my luck down at the Co-Op.

And yes, where did all these bakers suddenly pop up from?

Well dare I say that my least favourite part of my job, doing the accounts, is much easier at home. Distractions a plenty (like ummm here) but different and I can plow ahead. We use software called Intacct to report back to the mothership. I still would have to be at the office for the annoying bit of classifying and scanning paper bills. Probably have to go back first week of April - just for a day.

'My savings' I cry as the entire concept of money with implicit value circles the drain 😨

Sorry to those of you old enough to have gone through this in 2008, it's my first time!

Everything is relative.

My sister-in-law (who is German, but working and living here) has had to endure the (indefinite) postponement of her father's memorial service in Germany - he died two weeks ago - on account of current conditions and restrictions on travel.

Why stop there?

I've been around for 1975, 1982, 1991 and 2008… so yeah.

*shrug* You'll survive.

Likewise, as it happens.

And, on the first two dates to which you refer, domestic challenges meant - or were defined as - my brother and I spending an inordinate amount of time disputing - or negotiating - or rationing - our (shared) access to the single family stereo player in order to play (listen to) our music.
