Plus, to be perfectly honest, Heineken is a horrible beer; there are better beers available.
Actually , it depends on your point of reference . Compared to an American 'Lite" beer i.e. Bud Lite , Coors Lite , &c ; Heineken is the nectar of the gods . Compared to a good beer from a reasonably local craft brewery , you're absolutely right . I've been downing an occasional Pilsner Urquell the last few months due to all the Covid nonsense keeping me from getting a growler fill from my local microbrewery .

Ah.

True, as it happens, an apt observation and one with which I am in total agreement.

Well, I'm European, a continent with a decent beer (and wine) culture, thus, I do not regard the American beverages you have described as "beers"; if offered free to me, I would still decline them, whereas I would suffer a Heineken.

Now, a good artisan beer, on the other hand......that is worth seeking out and appreciating.

I am completely shocked to learn a video streaming service(Netflix) is worth more than an automobile international conglomerate that builds a percentage of planet earth cars(Toyota).

We can't win.
1) Apple appstore policy
2)Windows...I just can't...
3)Linux...create your software and bugfix it.
4)ChromeOS...Big Brother will take care of you.
Been there, done that with 1 and 2 and went back to 1. I gave up becoming Thermonuclear at Apple, even at losing some money. I tried Windows and it’s not for my personal use. Windows at work is fine because someone else babysits it. ChromeOS, I won’t go near and God bless Linux & Hackintosh folks.

Now work around Apple’s limitations and wonky policies and enjoy. I loathe Amazon even more, but need them for Whole Foods deliveries. Anyway, just want to use my tech as tools to create and have them stay out of my way.

Whatever you do, I wish you the very best.

Sounds like we're all a bunch of two pot screamers - in recent years any more than a couple of pints and I can write off the next day. Hate to say but I think the issue is just that we're getting older!
Indeed. 2 pints I’m fine. But 3-4 and the next day is a quiet day! If I get waisted (about once every two years or so), takes me 2 days to recover at least.
The more you drink the better you are at dealing with alcohol. Yes age is part of it, as is frequency you consume and how much water you consume with it.

I could give up alcohol quite easily. But I’d sooner not go on than give up tea!

I think too we all have differing tolerances and those tolerances change at different ages with different people. I used to be damn good at it until my late thirties (quite a long time ago now) when it was like a switch got flicked. (Since then I've found Nurofen chasers seem to be the only way to cope.) The people I know who've remained good at it suddenly now seem to be being prescribed a lot more than headache pills so it's certainly not something I miss... Tea on the other hand, well... that would be disaster...

Shocking, I flew into BC exactly 3 years ago (September 2017) for family reasons. I noticed as we landed the clouds were brownish which I thought really odd until I exited the airport and smelled stench of burning wood due to BC wildfires that summer. Provoked my asthma until we got a bit of rain to calm it down.

A month of bad air and wildfires getting worse every year have made me seriously think of leaving California for the first time (I've lived my whole life in the Bay Area). I already had it in my mind that I likely would leave the Bay Area after graduating given the high cost of living, but I think I'm burned out on the fires and bad air (pun not intended). I have a friend who lives in upstate New York who says the worst that ever happens there is the occasional blizzard. That's starting to sound pretty good to me.

it has smelled like burning wood for the past 10 days - defintely not good for asthma - this is worse than most years - then again what would you expect - after all it is 2020 - "throw another crisis on the pile"

I was watching the Sea Bus from North Vancouver today as it sailed off into the mist (smoke) and hoping it does not crash into another boat or ship while crossing the harbor - I did not hear any loud crashing noises so guess that the radar navigation is working

we are hoping for rain 🙏- but today is another smokey day with no rain yet 😥

I think humanity needs to take a moment and realize this.

The new iPad Air 4 has 11.8 BILLION transistors on the chip, Can do 1 TRILLION operations per second, its as thin and heavy as a magazine, does not have a fan, does not turn hot, has HD touchscreen display, runs off a battery and lasts up to 10 hours per charge..... 🤯

I am not sure in which decade this was considered a super computer, but we take too much for granted. In 1997 a 120Mhz CPU was stored in a PC tower connected into electricity and turning it on sounded like Bill Clinton was about to launch a nuclear missile on Russia.

Someplace in the Finger Lakes area around Ithaca or Geneva is nice... winters are somewhat more moderate than in the mountains, spring comes sooner... Ithaca and Syracuse have cultural opportunities and great food shopping.

Ithaca is where my friend lives. He graduated from Cornell this year and is now working in town. I have not been there yet but it seems like a beautiful place. :)

COVID-19. On annual leave for the next few weeks and had planned on visiting my sister in London (Highgate Cemetery) and brother in Kent (Dover Castle). Then to Portsmouth (Mary Rose and Docks), Warwick (Castle) Stratford on Avon (afternoon tea on river) and Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire (Museums).

Now, not so sure. COVID cases on the rise again and more lockdowns. I’m sure I’d be safe but just do not feel comfortable. Thinking it better to just stay at home and enjoy some “me time”....
