Coffee (I've just been grinding beans), home heating oil (have ordered some), late autumn, my French classes, politics, the books I have on order in the library, among others.
Enjoy your coffee and heating. Two essential luxuries. Substitute coffee for tea and oil for gas and I’m in complete agreement with you!Coffee (I've just been grinding beans), home heating oil (have ordered some), late autumn, my French classes, politics, the books I have on order in the library, among others.

My Dad uses oil at his house and apparently it’s at the lowest price it’s been for years. It struck me that I haven't needed to order oil since May, but, as winter approaches, now seems a good time to fill the tank, especially as I now have the heating on for a few hours in the morning, and in the evening, a period of time that will inevitably increase as temperatures drop with the arrival of winter.

Indeed. The floors are warming up nicely here.Another good reason to fill the oil tank just now.

Indeed. We broke out the fury blanket that she bought last year that goes on top of the duvet. Very warm.Sounds lovely.
It is coming into the time of the year when my electric blanket is called upon, summoned into service, ready to do duty over the winter.
In common with Mrs AFB, I do detest the cold.
Do you also have a nemesis blanket? Wondering where you bought them, because I need suitable gifts for some, uh, friends.Indeed. We broke out the fury blanket that she bought last year that goes on top of the duvet. Very warm.

Monday when we change the bedding. But it was purchased along with an electric blanket before we moved in as we were pretty sure it would be cold then!Ah, excellent.
When did the furry basket make an appearance?
I have just snuck upstairs (not that anyone is around who might be awakened) to switch on my own electric blanket.
How cold does it get in Texas?I'm not a fan of cold either. Living in Texas, I can handle heat. Cold just makes me tired, my skin dry, and I can't enjoy water related activities.
I'm done with winter before it starts.

For months you'll need to dress for both summer and winter on the same day.
Don't sell Texas short. We have 4 seasons in the span of a couple of hours. We can easily go Summer-->Winter--> Spring --> Winter --> Fall --> Spring --> Summer in a day.
A friend called by for a coffee, and we had a very pleasant chat.
A nice chat with a friend, and coffee (or bourbon/brandy/cognac/grappa at night). Very few things are better than that.
Agreed: Or a good chat over a glass of wine or beer.
That works too. I guess it also depends on the subject of the discussion.
Philosophy works well with wine in my opinion.
History needs a cognac.
Science deserves a beer.
And politics... well, you want to mix all of them: First drink, mortal ideological enemies. By the end of the night, we're best friends (again).
