Let's put it this way:

I'm not vegetarian (although I do see - and have some slight sympathy for - the arguments for it, and strongly believe in, reduced or limited consumption of meat and even then, only consuming the meat from animals and fowl that have been treated ethically and humanely, preferably in environmentally aware and organic conditions), and, one of the main reasons I shall never become vegetarian is iberico ham.

Do I want to pass the rest of my life without ever enjoying or simply savouring this sublime delicacy ever again? No, I do not.
All good. :) My body is not liking the increased amount of animal protein or processed food I’ve been eating, but I‘ve been very sensitive to what I eat for over 35 years. The stress I’ve endured is not helping either, ditto nearly dying 2.5 years ago.

I understand the appeal of meat, I am fine with whatever folks want to eat.

So for me, it’s always health first. Though my recent fondness for our local birds has pushed me further away from poultry. I do not preach about my diet for many reasons. Just eat what I can -and sometimes what I should not- and enjoy the vicarious pleasures of others eating what they like. 🙂

Someone not preaching about what they eat is a refreshing change! What we eat is mostly governed by what food Mrs AFB can cope with with her various allergies. There isn't much variety but she doesn't have that luxury.

Right time to stop procrastinating and get to work.

I think it would be cool if some sort of service or social media made it possible to build websites simple enough to be browsed using retro computers like commodore 64 or Mac Performa.

Probably just text, links, and ascii art

IIRC there are some BBSes that still exist, and the Mac Garden has a hosting service that is pretty barebones for those who want to make simple, GeoCities-esque websites. I've tried out my Mac Garden-hosted site on text browsers and it works pretty well tbh. :D

Poetry.
I don’t really understand it
yet, every now and then
I try my hand at writing it
and find the experience both daunting and satisfying.
Once in a great while
a blue moon
one will come together and be worth reading.
Leaving me to wonder how that happened.
I love poetry, both writing it and reading it. Nice poem, btw. ;)

Never had a Facebook account, never did Twitter, Instagram or any of the other. Only use trusty old Skype to talk to my kids when I am away.

How is Facebook these days? Last time I looked at my wife's account people were sharing what they had for breakfast and I lost interest pretty quickly..................

Couldn’t agree more. Things are much more civilised here!

No that’s moved in to Instagram now. Facebook is more complaining about neighbours or posting pics of early morning walks that nobody gives a toss about lol. I’m stereotyping of course :p

Has anyone else's GMail Spam filter gone way downhill lately? Used to maybe get a spam in the Inbox once a month if that. Now it's multiple times a day.

Did you get caught bunking off and go for a smoke behind the bike sheds then?
Good luck with the new job. My last 2 jobs have lasted 22 years so I’ve really not had too many changes of late.
Yea sometimes I wish I could just be a short term temp if I could always have a new assignment the next day after one ends and would make decent money. I love to learn stuff and try to do it more efficiently, but they once I master it I want to move on to something new.

I’ve never done the same role for that long. I’ve always had a number of promotions and new projects to manage. Evolving roles.

Just picked up a major new responsibility this week to be honest.

It'd be nice if desktop computers came with low capacity batteries so that in case of a power outage, they could tell any open programs to autosave and then perform a safe shutdown.

On a related note, my power went out last night…

Yea this is one reason I love laptops. And the Switch. The first time I lost power playing the Switch, I panicked about the last time I saved, but as quick as the power went off and on, the Switch Battery picked up the slack for the few seconds, and the game was in the same place.

Just to be sure, we're talking about this Mac Garden, right? :D

Yes,wait... a minute.
I just read the error message, it says:
"Sorry, (my IP) has been banned. Please visit http://mg.100mbit.se/ for more information on how to lift the ban."

what the...? I never in over 2 decades seen a website ban a user by IP. Why would they ban me? I visited their site like 4 times in my life.

I think I started a thread here or wrote in this thread that I wish desktops would have like a mini battery in them like laptops just in such case. A guy here explained why this is a bad idea, something like it doesn't work.

Ah, yea, sometimes it will IP ban people accidentally. Going to the FAQ on that site will help.
