My aunt just passed away, she had a stroke last Wednesday and left us. She was in Athens and just spoke briefly to my cousin, she was my Mom's sister-in-law and had not been well for a long time. Last time I met her was in 2014 with a large family reunion but she was in poor shape could not see her in 2019 or 2020 (was there last February just before the pandemic exploded) when I was visiting Athens for my job. So that leaves my aunt (Dad's sister) and uncle in Eastern Canada with my Mom on the West Coast. Me not knowing when I will see them again. I speak to Mom on the phone but she is not tech savvy, even my aunt and uncle can use video chat etc.
Sorry to hear that. My parents are also not very tech savvy. Phone calls seem a challenge to them! My dad gets his first jab today. Not seen him for maybe 3-4 years.

My condolences on the death of your aunt; while such occasions are always sad, under current conditions an extra layer of grief, and stress and hurt are added.

Re your mum and communication; my mum wasn't tech savvy, but - when she was still able for long conversations and I worked abroad - I used Skype to phone her; initially, I set it up on the computer (her account) at and on mine abroad.

Even mastering that was beyond her, so I simply used my own Skype on my computer to phone her land line and that worked exceptionally well and was very reasonable cost-wise.

Best of luck with the jab for your dad.

Decent Brother and I - we chatted yesterday for around an hour - agreed that Mother would have been close to the top of her cohort to receive a jab if she was still with us.

My condolences to you..... That is always hard when members of one's fairly small family pass away, and with COVID-19 preventing travel and visits with anyone, that makes things even more difficult. That is good that at least you can speak with your mother on the phone but that isn't quite the same as actually being together in person.

I understand, I just lost a close friend to COVID; grieving from afar is difficult at best.

sad I have to sell (it’s been less than a year) because of work.

some of the stocks that’s gonna hit me hardest are Amazon, Tesla, google, draftking...

hopefully I’m gonna be able to sell and rebuy relatively quick and at the same price or less but :( gonna miss the cost basis.

I'm caught in another conundrum with my physical pain and the medication that can help it. I have a feeling I'm going to start losing weight again. Added to the stress of the neighbors above me moving out and it's going to be rough.

I didn't like them but I know full well that the next neighbor can be positively worse. This year we are going to do whatever we can to get a home of our own. We're both at wits end on apartment life.

Hope everyone here is in good health.

You know that feeling when you're, for whatever reason, supposed to be watching after five little kids at once? Four of them engage in productive activities such as either drawing, reading, building something out of Legos or napping, and the fifth just sits there jamming crayons up his nose and eating play dough? That's my left hand right now.

Got the splint off today and am already thinking about donating this useless sausage of a ring finger of mine to science, or anyone really. If any of you need a spare, hit me up. Functionality not guaranteed, actually quite the opposite.

It's not all bad though, the doc was cool and the first person I've actually had a longer face to face conversation with in a while once the medical stuff was done, and on top of that the insurance is paying for most of the visits, x-rays and such. Which is pretty nice, considering everything that's going on.

Thanks form the bottom of my heart for the kind words everyone, at least Mom is doing as well as can be expected alone in BC. A tad worried about my aunt and uncle in Ontario, aunt is fine but my uncle has a lung and a half due to lung disease and can no longer go anywhere without oxygen. Even 4 years or so ago they would travel a lot and wintered in the Dominican Republic. This year staying in Hamilton but they are in good spirits. My cousin in Athens is managing well. Damn I have my family and many of my friends scattered all over, too bad transporters or even ST era shuttles don't exist.

Album by Marvin Gaye "Funky Nation: The Detroit Instrumentals" is keeping me company.

This is why the vaccine will be so helpful as more and more of us get "the jab" (or actually in most cases, two jabs)..... For me it certainly has been a prime motivator in wanting to get the first dose and while looking towards the second dose which I already know will make me feel miserable for a day or two afterward, as I simply do not want to wind up in the ICU on a ventilator. Yes, people do come off the ventilator and recover, but stlll....

Depending on what you read 50/50 seems to be what I read if you go on a ventilator with Covid. But it does depend on other factors.
My friend is showing a slight improvement.
