Police stand-off with an individual last week resulted in multiple shots fired; one of which pierced my truck . . .

. . . I was shaken, but unharmed . . .

. . . 61min: time-lost . . .
. . . USD 340: new windshield . . .
. . . *not having to see that 'orrible streak on my windshield from past-failed wiper-blades ever-again*: priceless . . . .

Regards, splifingate

... do I replace my MBA 2020 intel with a 2021 MBP with ports, or do I buy an iPad 12.9 to replace my 10.5 when that comes out, and replace the MBA in 2022....
I assume it’s one or the other, since your computer is 2020, I’d go with the iPad, unless you urgently need more capability from your laptop.

Eye opener. Get windshield replacement on your insurance, it’s pretty cheap.

I just realised with the discussion around Steve Job's birthday and the anniversary of Macrumors that I passed my 10th anniversary as a MR member back on February 7. In fact this marks 10 years as an Apple customer as I got my first iPhone - the 4 - back just before. Expanded later with an Apple Music subscription, iMac, Apple TV. Mostly been a good experience here in particular for non-tech related stuff. Some of my other forums have either lost interest for me or been shut down.

Neither is super urgent, but the iPad is annoying me with the white dot disease and size.

I should also mention the GF is using my old 2015 13" Pro which is definitely showing staingate now, so I'd be handing the 2020 air off to her.

Schockingly it was 16 today here in Geneva. The Jura mountains were I and some friends went trekking/cross country skiing last on 17 February when the snow was already starting to melt are almost bereft of snow! Previously in Jnauary it was -5 and a ton of snow. Then I read about Texas getting it all and we getting some lovely Sahara sand.

A bit chilly here so far today, but it is supposed to get up to 50 later in the day, so yes, I think Spring is really just around the corner for us and that we've gotten past the worst of the winter weather. Fervently hoping so, anyway! I am definitely enjoying the evenings staying light for a longer time now -- and in just a couple of weeks, on March 14th, we'll be going back to Daylight Savings Time -- YAAAY!!!! THAT really will make a difference.

Joy, daffodils.

While heading out earlier this afternoon for a couple of errands (beer, organic milk, the pharmacy), to my delight and inexpressible joy, my eyes alighted on some (more than some) daffodils...

No daffodils around here, but we do have bottlebrushes
and they attract the Rainbow Lorrikeets when in bloom
sort of like this (not my picture) --

Rainbow lorries are serial monogamists, usually living in a pair for some years, until, like people, someone more attractive comes along.
I was walking past a row of bottlebrushes one morning, and there were three lorries having (literally) an argument. It sounded all the world like a spurned partner telling the ex and the new partner what absolute $%@#%$@#% they were and the new couple defending their honour in return.
It was odd feeling that some birds are just like people...
