Update: My pain is only in one spot now and it's intermittent. I no longer feel like a goblin is trying to rip out of my entire abdomen.

I can finally feel pain in other places on my body when I accidentally bump a toe or knee like a regular person now. Before my abdomen pain was so bad I couldn't feel pain elsewhere.

I feel a bit anxious as over 2 years I was like this, so reaching this level of being pain free makes me scared it'll come back suddenly. That's normal isn't it? I've been through a lot with my healing process.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
So glad to hear your pain is intermittent now. May it continue.

Happy for another day with mom, was so grateful I was awake when she needed me this morning.

Good things are here.

Hope everyone is doing well. 🙂

I liked Biology, because I was always working out new ways to get bitten by the objects of study.

I liked Chemistry, because I was always learning new ways to make smells, some nice (esters), some not so nice (sulphides).

I liked Physics, because, especially when we were dealing with electricity, I was always learning new ways to give myself electric shocks.

Science is fun!!!

All good here. Just had dinner with my Dad. First time I’ve seen him in a few years. Hope it’s not the last.

My Year 11 Physics teacher - a man who liked us calling him God (his name was Doug, and by his he reckoning Doug spelled backwards was God...) - used to call me Anti-Man, because my proposed answers when he called upon me in class were always the opposite of what he was after...

But, God, I still believe if you are standing in the dead centre of a spinning merry-go-round, with all the centrifugal forces acting on you in an equally outwards motion, you should be rooted to the spot - because they are all countering each other...

Maybe he had some of the other stuff right...

🤣

I loved my Meteorology class. My professor was amazing (and not just because she was a tornado chaser). She made it fun. Wish I would have kept my textbook.

Geology was boring, but I had a really good professor.

@RogerWilco6502 good luck on your Physics exam.

@Apple fanboy Yay! Glad you saw your dad and had a nice dinner.

One year we had some fascinating weather. I would drive out the back of the University. To the East were the Owen Stanley ranges, with monsoon clouds building up over them. To the West, low down, below the clouds was the setting sun. The intense tropical sun bore through the atmosphere, setting up the most intense rainbows I have ever seen. The primary bow, with up to three cycles of colours. Outside it, reversed, was the secondary bow, with up to two complete cycles of colours, going the other way. You could only watch in awe and wonder.

Like this, but repeated two and three times over for each bow.

I was doing Quantum Physics at the time, and found out we really didn't know how rainbows work. Apparently we still don't. Yes, I know there are diagrams in physics text books, but they are too simplistic.

And yes, geology has to be boring, unless you are experiencing an earthquake (been there, done that, several times) or standing on the rim of an active volcano (haven't done that, not yet, hopefully never will).

Except one time, I was cleaning a display cabinet of ores and other samples. Took each sample, dusted it off, put it in the ultrasonic bath, saw the embedded dust shaken off, took it out to dry before putting it back. Till I put in one nice white sample with lots of pointy crystalline points. Suddenly it went all fuzzy and blurry. I took it out instantly, but all the points had become rounded. Looked at the label and saw "Halite"...

The other day I picked up my copy of Tea with the Black Dragon by R.A.MacAvoy. I have owned this since it first came out, and decided to re-read it. I learnt two things from it today, always a sign of a good, well-written novel, when it can teach you stuff.
  1. Oriental dragons have 5 toes on each leg, whereas Western dragons only have 3 or 4.
  2. Palo Alto is named after a tree, El Palo Alto, which means The Tall Tree. I believe the tree is still there, and is over 1,000 years old.

Fandom is weird and really messed up sometimes. In every domain: entertainment, tech and sports. Let alone politics. Or religion.
QFT... I’ve worked at being a better fan by posting positive comments to actors, creators etc. I enjoy on their social media. I do not have to like the character, music, comic, etc. but that doesn’t mean I should be a complete @$$ to the person behind the character or content. If I dislike the person I do not bother with their accounts. I always find something good to say to them (that I am sincere about) and leave the stupidity off the table or away from them.

Hope everyone here is good today.

Fascinating post, and one which I greatly enjoyed reading.

Thanks for sharing.

Hope you had a terrific time with your dad.

The Covid vaccine.

I received mine on Sunday (four days ago), and one of my brothers, and my sister-in-law, both received their first dose of the vaccine today.

That leaves the brother referred to on these threads as Decent Brother, who has yet to obtain an appointment.

It's been cooler than usual here as well, and when I went out to first discard my trash and collect my mail and then again to shoot some photos I had on long pants, a long-sleeved tee and a cardigan. The sun is nice and warm but the wind had a bit of sharp edge to it and definitely the air was chilly.

SS, I hope Decent Brother gets his appointment for the jab soon! Things are moving along pretty well here in the US and now with one of the vaccines also probably going to start being administered to adolescents (12-18 years old) as well, that should help matters considerably as far as potential spread of the virus. If only those adults who are still vaccine-resistant would twig to the fact that this really IS meant to help ALL of us and to allow things to reopen again, normal activities to resume, that would help even more!

I would expect Decent Brother to receive word in the next week or so as to when (and where) his vaccine appointment shall take place - at least, I devoutly hope that this is the case.
