I had my first AstraZeneca shot last week.
Very minor symptoms. A touch of dizziness one night when I got up for my pre-dawn bathroom visit, and a feeling of fatigue the next day (sat down in my armchair at 2:30 pm, woke up 2 hours later).
But then, due to where I grew up, I have had more different vaccinations than many --
- BCG (for TB/Leprosy) twice
- Smallpox
- Polio - Salk and Sabin
- Cholera
- Triple Antigen (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough)
- Tetanus booster multiple times
I suspect my immune system is fairly robust after all of that.
Also, there is some suggestion that BCG gives some protection against SARS/COVID. Australia was doing a trial last year to see if giving front-line workers reduced their chances of getting COVID, or reducing the symptoms. I don't know why they were starting from scratch, since there is at least 100,000 people in Aus. who have had BCG. Basically all mature adults who grew up in the Pacific and Russia have had BCG. Just checking that population to see if they had a lower rate of COVID would have been interesting.
