and so, my oldest cat has finally passed away. One day after the Queen; I’d say it’s fitting knowing her (the cat’s) character. She was a good pet for 16 years.

Sorry for your loss. My two oldest cats, sisters, also 16, passed away recently too. Like all my other cats these were rescue shelter adopted and at least I could provide them with a very good life in our house. I’m not sure if I can have any more pets in the future, it was a bit hard on me when they died.

On my mind… the insane amount of wasted pixels and characters (or, more troubling, the mental resources) over the casting choice of what is ultimately a fictional fish.

Bernard Shaw of CNN fame died too. They always say it comes in threes.
I did not realize this in the midst of all the news. He was a great journalist. During the heyday of CNN, he refused to report the death of James Brady during the assassination attempt on the life of President Reagan. Lot's of integrity: he was willing to get the story right rather than being first.

Don’t ever buy a piece of furniture made with faux leather or the equivalent unless you don’t mind a material with a short life span, small flecks and pieces of shedding material on you and the floor. I payed what I consider a lot of money for an office chair, it’s probably 5 years old and it’s shedding significantly. Of note, blame me, I did not realize I was buying faux leather. The previous fabric office chair lasted 15 years, I still have it as a spare chair and it’s still going strong.

This is especially so if you have a cat, and the cat likes the chair, and likes to 'sharpen' her claws on it. Our fabric covered chairs show no such problems.

The choice is -- get rid of the chair or get rid of the cat. Second option is cheapest...

I will go further and suggest that it is a bad idea to buy anything made of faux or “vegan” “leather”, especially for reasons of price - usually turned out to be false economy in my case.

I had a fabric sofa. My cats destroyed it. Literally destroyed it.
