Sad part is most of the things from Google IO we're catch up to Apples iOS6 and below offerings. Hangout and their GameCenter come to mind.

Hangout is not Google copying Apple when you consider that they've been running Gtalk for years. If anything, Apple was late to that party.

Making it more integrated part of the system and trying to ditch SMS. Yes they are. The only thing they didn't do, and is the most important part, is the real phone number integration w/ SMS fallback.

The point here is not about who is coping who , those discussions are left to fanboys and trolls .

The point is if anybody ask for a feature or if says anything bad about apple why is he damned ?

For your information I don't own a android phone or any android product nor iam planing to have one . And care zero if android is innovative or not .but the fact remains that their are some features in android which iOS lacks at this moment the ones which Sakurasuki mentioned .

But the response given like " go buy android don't come here " if someone says apple is playing catchup is just not appropriate .
iOS 7 proves that they are listening though. They have added so many things people wanted. The fact that they are slow to adopt but once they do they excel most of the time is them being Apple ("Attention to detail") and not the competition being better or anything really. I like that they let Google treat there customers as beta testers we get the best experience because of it.

other than control center, I would consider the "smart multitasking" to be a kool feature.

from apple's iOS page:
Because iOS 7 learns when you like to use your apps and can update your content before you launch them. So if you tend to check your favorite social app at 9:00 a.m. every day, your feed will be ready and waiting for you. That’s multitasking in iOS 7. It knows what you want to do before you do.

iOS schedules updates during power-efficient times. Like when your device is on and connected to Wi-Fi. So your battery isn’t drained unnecessarily.

also considering this was a full revamp, i expect more kool features to come in 7.x once they get 7 to a stable state.

in Jony we trust :p

I like that but I'd love that kind of thing to be in calendar with Siri integration like Google Now...

The new Hangouts is no more than the consolidation of existing Google products: Google Talk, Google+ Messenger and the previous Hangouts. How is that specifically copying Apple? Google Talk existed long before iOS did, and it was on Android before iMessages showed up on iOS.

I'm not trying to argue, but always keep in mind Google is doing almost anything they do know with Android in mind. They are not just combining services they are making it into an instant messenger that appeals to people that don't want SMS on a phone (with wifi or just basic internet access they have it covered) but fails to focus on those with SMS. Now why would they just unify the experience? They have some kind of plan for it.

Because they had three separate systems for letting people communicate to each other in a semi-real time manner. They had to cut down on the fragmentation. Both Google Talk and Google+ Messenger could have already been considered SMS replacements with the notification systems in place.

Kinda stupid if you ask me. They couldn't shut down the others and have some kind of data retrieval? They couldn't force one service on another service? Seems like wasted time and money for nothing to me.

I just read through this entire multi page argument... Pardon my ignorance, but what actual valid, useful features are missing from ios? I don't own android or windows mobile.. From the advertisements, I really would never use some of the features that they boast.. Like waving my hand over my phone, or looking away pauses what I'm watching, that stuff seems pretty silly to me... Uploading files to the web? I have no problem finding work arounds on my ipad that work easy and seamless, in fact I have splashtop for anything I have to do on my PC and rarely use it for anything but finding a document saved there, then I just Dropbox or email it.. And flash should be done away with. Html5 is better.

I love the features of ios, the fact that they all work, and passively, it allows me to do what I want without a bunch of extra steps.

I think there are many new features in ios7 worth noting, but the most significant improvement is how it's focused on being more personal. I love the new notifications center. I love the way apps are prepared for you. Nobody has mentioned the improvements to siri, her voice is much more clear, and she can handle even more tasks and has a better understanding of context. Overall it feels more refined in a sense of real world use, not a laundry list of features to brag about to people.

Well when I was in the hot tub the other day, I would've loved to have some of those Android features they talked about. Or even when it's raining. It seems silly, but really it's just modern technology.

iPhone users can't even beam their phones by touching then all they have is Airdrop, and Bluetooth is the worst way to send information.

Bumping phones is laughable compared to AirDrop. And why is Bluetooth (or WiFi direct) "the worst way to send information"?

AirDrop. Can't wait for third party devs to make it shine!

That's pretty silly. Your "killer feature" is something that you need someone with another iPhone 5 at least to be standing fairly close to you in order to use? Also, what exactly can't you share right now without AirDrop that you absolutely would like it for?

I do agree that 3rd party apps that have the potential to use AirDrop in some new exciting way might be cool though. I don't know how quite yet but it feels like there should be something there...

Want to bet?

Sure, I'll take that bet.

I said Bluetooth, I didn't mention WiFi direct.

• You have to "pair" devices.
• It's cumbersome.
• Doesn't have a good success rate.
• Not reliable.
• Multiple devices =/= bandwidth

I have never gotten Airdrop to work. And I have never played a multiplayer Bluetooth game either. It just never works.

I have used airdrop and it works well. You don't have to take any actions aside from selecting what you want to share and who you want to share with.

I have played games over bluetooth on my iphone 4 (couple years ago) and everything seemed to work just fine..

As small as it is, off screen swiping to go back or forward in safari.

So useful.

I can't understand why they didn't try to rewrite the keyboard. It's the absolute worst out of any of the mobile OSs out there.

Do you seriously think that Siri and her voice which seems clear now to you and refined and etc etc related to it is a killer feature ? And how come such things don't come in laundry list ? Google now is much better then siri .

And notification center was in android much before then apple introduced it in iOS .

The multitasking is also straight from webos .

People here are not talking what s4 or any particular android handsets gives you as features , the basic android platform has inbuilt features in it and apple fans wanting them because they are useful its about that .

And mind you I don't use android , but I want some of those features which some members are asking for in iOS because iam sure apple is much more capable and can provide those options in much elegant way then google and their OEMs

apple as a company is much more capable in doing more things then fine tuning Siri and her voice .
