I've used this nickname on the Internet for almost a decade. I picked it when Badly Drawn Boy was just starting to get noticed in the UK (was a huge British music buff in high school) and thought the name was too cute. I just changed the gender as appropriate.

Because back in the 90s when I was a l33t AOLer, I though the screenname "yourgod" would be funny, but that was taken so I threw the 17 on (an arbitrary number I chose). I later realized how immature it was (not to mention, claiming myself or anyone else is a god completely contradicted my atheist beliefs), so I just changed it to yg17. Quick to type and easy to remember
