Iconoclasm - This is one of my favorite programs. I absolutely despise the forced icon layout

But obviously your netwrok/carrier will be seeing that you are tethering from your phone anyways?

From what I've been told: tethering appears as a modem grabbing 3G data; MyWi appears as a Wifi connection, pulling data as if your phone is connected to a WiFi hotspot or modem. Not 100% sure if this is accurate.

Lockinfo. Why is it so difficult for iOS and Android to have this natively? 90% of the time I look at my phone, it's to get a quick at-a-glance summary of my schedule, emails, and notifications -- I don't want to have to go through the rigmarole of turning on, unlocking, then checking individually.

3G unrescrictor for facetime over 3g, SBsettings, and well i guess anything that lets me change my SMS tones... (i've been waiting for that ever since custom ringtones was announced... come on apple!)

Pretty much ever reason was already listed. I guess because it's mine and I want it to do what I want it to do.... not what apple says it should be.

+1

i would like a simple widget like little app like thing, with one click i can turn the phones 3g and edge radios on, off. Maybe the same for gps. Really hate going into the menu to do these actions.. its so annoying, settings, general, network, grrr so many clicks to do something i'd like to do with one click.
If theres anything like that in the jailbreak community i'll jump over.

SBSettings. Google it. It's awesome.

I'm probably gonna use Winterboard to change the folder icons

Installous, SBsettings, 3g unrestrictor, free tethering, direct SSH access to photos/videos, high def youtube videos over 3g, facetime over 3g.

Everyone Forget Backgrounder?

Backgrounder is a major one. Sure IOS4 has multitasking and sorta runs apps in the background; but, Backgrounder is the still the only true way to fully run apps in the background when needed. I really miss it due some of my favorites apps still have not been updated to iOS4 like RSS Player. And who is to say the developers will ever update their apps to take advantage of the ios4 method of backgrounding.

Props to these jailbreak apps:
Backgrounder
SBSettings - so many features but I mainly miss the ability to quickly adjust the brightness of my screen with this.
Safari Download Plug-in - allow downloading of files you otherwise wouldn't be able to like say you go to Cnet and want to hear a podcast. Normally it will launch the quicktime player and stream the file but with this it will give the option to download and save the file. It will download the file to a place conveniently accessible thru dTunes.
dTunes
FontSwap
Game Emulators (like nintendo and genesis)
Grip (like Growl on the OSX…which in my opinion is a great and only solution to notification management which we know the iPhone still lacks and suffers from)
iFile
Lockinfo or intelliscreen
intellidial - google this one…it will allow quick access from lockscreen to you favs on your Phone app to call with just a touch of their picture and doesn't interfere with things like Lockinfo.
My3G or Unrestrictor - tricks your phone into thinking its on WiFi thus enabling all apps that only work over Wifi.
MyWi
ProSwithcher (which will remain being my favorite way to switch apps…its like the Palm Pre app switcher…its the coolest to switch apps)
ScreenDimmer
Talking Alerts - "you have a text message" "you have email"
UserAgentFaker (when using Safari makes the Web think you are on a full size computer and you are not bother with mobile version pages.
Winterboard (though I don't think I will use this one anymore personally as I am not looking to add "live" wallpapers.
YourTube download youtube videos

…and theres more ….its crazy….Now I don't know that all these are working on iOS4 but here is hoping the developers will make them work as they were my favs on 3.0.

Also if you have a 3GS or better jailbreaking is great IMO but not if you have any other. The difference in memory being juggled by the phone to do all the cool stuff between the 3GS and a 3G is extreme...something like 124MB on a 3GS vs 18MB on a 3G. This is why people have a bad experience. If you decide to do it on a 3G you better enable the Memory monitor via SbSettings and constantly manage your memory by closing and not having apps running in the background that you aren't immediately using.
