In no way is that the most likely scenario.Unfortunately, the most likely scenario now is an October announcement, either with iPhones or right after. I hope we're all surprised with an announcement sooner, but it seems unlikely Apple will do that while the BtS promotion is in effect.
I don't think that really has any bearing on release dates. The M1 based MacBook Air, M1 13" MBP, and 24" M1 iMac are all available, along with popular iPadAir and M1 iPad Pro for educational buyers. Hey Free AirPods.Back to school promotion just went live (just received the email from Apple). At this point I wouldn’t expect new laptop announcements until after the back to school promo has expired.
Agreed. It wasn't at WWDC because a possible announcement was more then a month off. The 2020 iMac announcement was August 4th as a comparison. In no way is that the most likely scenario.
The most likely scenario is they launch sometime in July/August as has been predicted and reported on for months. When that time passes, the most likely scenario will change.
My guess is a press release announcement some time in July.Agreed. It wasn't at WWDC because a possible announcement was more then a month off. The 2020 iMac announcement was August 4th as a comparison.
Why is October "most likely"? A summer update for the MBP is not at all unusual, and seems to be what's rumored.Unfortunately, the most likely scenario now is an October announcement, either with iPhones or right after. I certainly hope so, and yes, they have announced new models in July before, but with the fanfare these will receive, they may want to wait to capitalize on the release of Monterey and wait until BtS promotion ends.My guess is a press release announcement some time in July.
Fingers crossed that we're surprised, thoughMy guess is a press release announcement some time in July.
If you look at the date, they are more often released in the fall. That said, I hope this year is an outlier and they're announced during summer. Why is October "most likely"? A summer update for the MBP is not at all unusual, and seems to be what's rumored.
Yeah they won’t. It will coincide with Monterey. Nice little package deal.Unfortunately, the most likely scenario now is an October announcement, either with iPhones or right after. Well, someone's grouchy. I guess you have some inside information you'd like to share that confirms it? Everyone's been saying the second half of 2021. Since we all know there's a global supply shortage going on, that could mean anything. That said, I do hope you're right. In no way is that the most likely scenario.

Because the promo always includes machines that are out during the promo. Launching CPUs that qualify for BTS during BTS would cause tremendous confusion, returns, etc. They’ll never do it. And have never done it.BTS runs through Sept. 27 and the return window runs until 15 days after that.
If Apple will announce new iPhones and Apple Watches (and probably AirPods) during BTS, and we know they’re going to, not sure why MBPs would be off the table.
It's the ship date, gang, not the announcement that matters. If they could have shipped in late July, they would have announced at WWDC- they had the perfect platform to do so. If they're going to announce in August, it's because they can't ship until late August or September, and so on...Agreed. It wasn't at WWDC because a possible announcement was more then a month off. The 2020 iMac announcement was August 4th as a comparison.
New Macs are not tied to a upcoming OS release historically. All they need is some version that allows hardware operation such as 11.5 as a example. BtS is irreverent given what's already released. Apple doesn't announce products way in advance. The 24" iMac had a 3 week window before they were available. WWDC on June 7th, likely didn't foreshadow anything for the remainder of June, but July and August is quite possible before you have the usual iPhone event early Sept.I certainly hope so, and yes, they have announced new models in July before, but with the fanfare these will receive, they may want to wait to capitalize on the release of Monterey and wait until BtS promotion ends.
And, if they announce in July, they won't ship until Aug-Sept; if they were going to ship in July/Aug, they would have just announced at WWDC.
I think it’s possible, but yet they announced iPads in April with late May availability, so, with the supply shortages, I think that the MBP situation could look similar.New Macs are not tied to a upcoming OS release historically. Yes, a July/Aug announcement is possible. Is it likely? I’m skeptical.New Macs are not tied to a upcoming OS release historically. This will help on the M2 MBP guessing. Some years offered multiple models.Yes, a July/Aug announcement is possible. Is it likely? I’m skeptical.
btw... It's not that I have anything against Monterey... Actually, there are some cool dev technologies coming up that will make it a pretty exciting upgrade. I just don't want to be stopped by lagging third-party compatibility updates.Yeah... I also noticed that the WWDC session videos have the old Mac "bong" at the start, which does make it kinda seem like a new MBP—that reprises the old boot chime—was actually supposed to be released... but who knows, maybe it's just some weird "teaser"... ??

What happens when the TouchBar is still there? What happens when it still has the same 4 ports but just TB4? Relying on pure rumors is going to set you up for disappointment!I really hope they come out this fall man, I've been waiting way too long to update my 2014 MBP (and for good reasons). At first it was cause of the ****** butterfly keyboard, then it was because I hated the touchbar, and now they even decided to bring some regular ports back alongside architectural changes to make it the perfect replacement :c.
HELL YEAH ITS A KICK ASS MACHINE ! I own one and its still rocking ! Good to see 2012 supporters alive and well.Exactly same here.
Wallet ready and in the meantime using the mid-2012 with all possible options at that time: super duper machine!!!
