iPad When is the iPad 2 jailbreak coming out?

If you actually looked at the link to the craigslist ad I posted, you'd see that area(Springfield, MA), and surrounding areas(one of which is where I live), got hit by 4 tornadoes last week. I know some areas get them often, we do not however and it's really thrown us for a loop.

As I said, I've been busy, and making a video for a group of rude online forum junkies is way down my list of things to do. I'm not even sure why I'm wasting my time writing this.

I'm sorry you're all frustrated that a widely available jailbreak isn't out yet, but don't take it out on me.

I'll tell you what, I live in Western MA and work in downtown Springfield. You can feel free to drop by my office and show me. I've got access to decent AV equipment and can make a decent video. I'd also be interested in the guy from CL that did this, I'd go ahead and burn 20 bucks and see if it was real or not. I'm not saying either way that what you say is true or it's not, I just hate to get all excited for what may be a hoax and I'm inviting you to prove what you say. My office is a doctors office with staff so you will be safe.

Feel free to PM me, as I said I'm more than happy to have you come down to my office in Springfield.

We're frustrated because you're lying. I'm sorry to say, but you're not encountering a bunch of idiots here. The video was clearly edited and if there was any type of functioning jailbreak it would be available. Just stop.

My challenge is that the only reliable solution is to look at UIScrollView's code, but I haven't "learned to read" these FP instructions.

Scrollability is nice and smooth, but the website indicates (and a quick test confirms) that it has a lot of "uncanny valley" issues.

Yeah I was reading all that and had NO Clue what all of that means..I am just excited that this might mean we are getting close. my iPad 2 arrives on Thursday, just imagine I take it out of the box and I Can jailbreak it, HOW EXCITING!!

I think from what others have told me, he is at the final stage of making it so when you go on the site with your iPad 2, that you will be able to swipe the "Jailbreak me" button with ease..so it looks like he is at the final stage of creating the jailbreak

Close enough to where his problems are about building the UI. I'd say in the final stage.

The UI is basically what..just making the jailbreak run smoothly?? I cant wait to jailbreak my iPad! From Comex getting all of the firmware files it looks like this jailbreak is going to work with ALL firmwares for the iPad 2 so I am super excited! Comex is awesome for doing this for us

I wouldn't call it useless, I'm sure they will only release one of these JBs and save one for later, unless p0sixninja is on the track of an unteathered jb. I don't think comexs JB will be unteathered. Not that it matters to me, I never have my iPad off anyways. I think it's been off once in the two months I've had it.

Please correct me if Im wrong but isn't jailbreakme.com have to be untethered..if its tethered how would that work..every time you turn on your iPad you have to go to the web site in order for it to be jailbroken again?

Yeah, unteathered would imply that rebooting your iPad would keep your tablet unlocked. If it's tethered, that would mean that every time you turn your device off, you have to go back to whatever you used to jailbreak, and re-use the jailbreak to run your own stuff again (cydia). I don't have any experience with the jailbreaks post 4.0, but if it's the same as it used to be, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It used to be that if your device somehow got locked again, apple wouldn't remove the actual files, or change your directories... But more less hide them and restrict access. I remember in one occasion I had used a custom ring tone for my iPhone 3G, and I updated. Naturally, apple relocked my phone up, but the custom tones I was using were still my default ringtones, and when I re jail broke all of my saved files were there, and I just had to unhide icons. All my roms and app edits were still stored in thie phone. So, again, if it's still that way, I'll be content with a tethered jb, and considering apple doesn't reformat your phone every time they lock it, I don't see how they could deletemuch, unless they implemented something like that old harddrive sheriff they used to have at the schools.

I agree that jailbreakme.com JB would have to be untethered, because if it were tethered, how would it even reboot the first time you jailbroke it?
 
Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't you have to reboot (not respring) after jailbreaking through JailbreakMe the last time? I would hate to have to wait until I got home to jb if it got released when I wasn't home.

I didn't think it did, I went back on YouTube to check if anyone had to reboot their device, and it doesn't look like it.

Even if so, it does not nesicarily mean that it has to be like this now. And if you had to reboot it might lay som files in for the next reboot which will be scrambled or removed by the OS, or otherwise make it impossible to make it do it all future boots.


Only thing thats for certain is that there will be a jailbreak, for the iPad 2, and for the next iteration of iPhone. Only thing that could stop that is the world going under, or world war 3, which is highly unlikley.
