From what it sounds like Comex's jailbreak is somehow already patched, or not compatable with iOS 5, so I'm under the impression that he has been sitting on it for a bit, and once the beta came out he realized he should release it now.

Since I am a VERY impatient person, I am tempted to agree with you on that. Comex did also say, however, that the unionfs problem was solved along with another iPad2 problem. Of course I have no idea what the unionfs problem was, but it was solved.
