He doesn't have to. If you took the time to read the FAQ at the link provided, you would have seen the following info.

Comex didn't have to do anything, his work was copyrighted from the moment he created that PDF file.

who's to say I didn't make the file myself? u cant tell from that pdf file

HAHA, this reminds me of when Gizmodo "got their knickers in a twist" about the ethics of taking a leaked prototype (beta) of an iPhone a year ago, haha.

Same logic, same fu@ktards thinking it's okay. The only way to obtain intellectual or physical property LEGALLY is through legitimate channels.

You mean when an Apple employee lost the prototype in a bar?
And Gizmodo leaked it.
And no charges were ever filed?

Huh?!?!

How many tours by "starving artists" have you paid to attend lately? And how many Justin Bieber vs Artist _____ shirts are people walking around with? That was so out of left-field, haha.
I'd say a majority of the bands I go see are barely making ends meet. 2 of my favorite bands have broken up recently and I've seen them both in the last 3 months. I go to shows about 3 times a month, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

u mad bro? let me guess...4.3.3?

Not sure what you're getting at with that question, but I'll assume you're wondering if my iPad 2 is on 4.3.3 and therefore doesn't work with the jailbreak and I'm just mad. So...

No. My iPad 2 is running iOS 5 and I haven't touched your leaked files. I'm waiting for the proper developers to release it.

If that's not what you meant, please clarify and use complete sentences. I'm also, definitely, not your brother.

Forgive me if I don't weep for a hacker who got hacked.. Allegedly..

I was able to jailbreak my iPad 2, so either way I'm grateful to both Comex, and the leaker the same..

Funny thing is I have yet to get hate mail from someone who was able to jailbreak... #ironic.

And you likely won't.. While I don't agree with your methods, I could probably say the same about Comex, if I was an Apple Cohort..

In any event, thanks for snooping and swooping.. lol

Oh, and maybe I should change my signature..

Sued under what circumstance? That they downloaded something he posted on the Internet out there to be accessed?

Why would I get banned? I did not break any forum rules. All I did was take a file from a public website (comex's site) and upload it to my website and made a video. I would have never got the file if Comex did not have it online. It's not like I broke into his house and stole it from the hard drive. It was publicly available to EVERYONE on the Internet.

Please tell me you're smart enough to understand what is wrong with this statement. You downloaded something that he did not want you to have, made a copy of it, and uploaded onto your own site WITHOUT PERMISSION. It's called intellectual property theft. It's copyright infringement. It's theft. It's a crime. It's legally prosecutable.

If Comex decides he wants to pursue this legally, to put this as delicately as I can, you're screwed. If I were you, I'd hope that he's a lot more forgiving than you deserve.

Newsflash: When Comex released the jailbreak it would get blocked in the next firmware all the same, and it was clear from Comex that he was not going to hold back the release for further firmware concerns. Additionally, supposedly the exploit is already blocked in the iOS 5 beta, though I havn't seen the source tweet/post for that information.

But thanks for the enlightenment. This is quickly becoming hilarious.

Edit: Done? What a letdown from the dynamic duo.

I do indeed have a life outside of the internet. I'm sorry I can't spend 24/7 on a forum. Comex never confirmed or denied whether or not it would work on iOS5.. I googled what everyone was talking about and the tweet every "news" blog seems to be referring to never even mentioned iOS 5.
I'm a lot more than just "another forum poster". I know this probably won't mean much and I don't really play this card, but check the lists of who Musclenerd, p0sixninja, ih8sn0w, c1de0x, copumpkin, etc. are following for a better idea of why when I say "trust me", people usually listen ;)

I forgot when, but he did explicitly mention a while back that it was patched in ios5

Seriously. Get a grip.
You can't sue for damages for something you're giving away for free.

What a load of posturing nonsense.

Angie - someone on this thread has heard of MN but doesn't know Comex - the almost total lack of knowledge of anything to do with jail breaking is quite stunning.

People on the Blog at least managed to find it - I think this is where the people who can't find it hang out....

Oh, and as far the files being openly accessible, try making a claim after your house is robbed because you left the doors unlocked.

I have literally never encountered forum posters more full of themselves for less reason.

Confucious has still offered exactly zero logic or argument, yet continues to make ridiculous smug posts. Angie has made one absolutely stupid argument and continues as well. Do you people go around in real life bragging about being a forum moderator and on a programmers twitter list?

Angie, your argument was that the leak would cause the exploit to be blocked in future releases. My counter is that the official release is intended to be well before iOS5 and obviously any other future firmwares, thus it would be blocked in those regardless of the leak. I specifically stated I was not sure if it was already blocked in the beta, but that was merely some extra information.

Do you have an actual response or would you like to give me your post count instead?

-------------

And confucious, considering my constantly repeated point was that it doesn't matter who you are if you can't support your statement, why would I have tried to extensively research who you are? None the less, the reveal just makes you all the more ridiculous. Who do you think you are impressing with these little drop ins? Your buddy Angie seems to be the only one who cares who you are.

The files had not been released, the rightful owner ( Comex) had not given them to anyone, if he had done so, it would be different. It was said before, just because someone has a website does not mean that anyone who sees it has ownership of it, or the right to copy it and distribute it...

He merely said there would be no way to claim significant damages so what is he going to sue over? There could be a police report filed for the theft, but I doubt the cyber detectives would rush out to lock him up for 50 years over that one.

Even if all potential avenues taken, the consequences wouldn't amount to "screwed". Of course, we all know nothing will happen to him over it. It is technically illegal though. So is jaywalking.

At first I was amused, then I was slightly annoyed. I've long passed the point of annoyance; I'm finding this absolutely hysterical at the moment :p
