They are not "holding" these shipments. They have already left new jersey. They will deliver when they feel like it. I am sure most will come Monday with a few straglers. The artificial hold is only for new product announce dates like the iPhone which they do hold to deliver on a particular date.

Same exact situation here :,( I desperately needed it too for class. Luckily i have friends with powerful computers so i outsourced my 3D renders to their machines since i only have one machine right now lol.

WTF? Myself and others who have ordered on the 12/13 still haven't even received a shipment notice. Looks like Apple isn't necessarily processing these in order, and also that the 12 cores are coming from Texas. Super sad face for me now

Just to clarify, when I said "2 hexacores", I meant two separate 6-core machines. So my experience might not apply to 12-core machines.

Placed order on a business account (which included a nice discount), which maybe accounts for speedier service? If ordering for a business (even as a sole proprietor), I strongly recommend setting up an Apple business account and order through your account rep.

In addition to getting a business discount, you might even be exempt from sales tax if buying for business use ... that might depend on your state, and you'll need appropriate certification from your state tax department.

Ha! I got the same exact response; that it's in a "container". Yea Monday is the earliest we'll see our Mac Pros. Either way, what could have been an awesome weekend has now turned to another waiting game.

I did that and got 15.10 on CPU and like 32 on the open GL part. It was awesome to see 24 little squares render so fast

Awesome! Mine is almost completely done. Really the only thing I need to do now is use bootcamp to put windows 7 on here for ZBrush 3.5 since its not out for Mac yet.

I'm going to wait on bootcamp for a little bit. I still have an i7 PC that I use for the few PC-only programs I run. I also use it as a backup data farm & SVN server.

My 8-core 2.4 5880 Pro just got done with all the Time Machine restore stuff. I did some real-world (for me) speed tests on it & found just what I'd hoped. My old iMac (2008 2.4Ghz C2D) compiled Air Hockey & Doodle Hockey in roughly 1 minute 50 seconds. The new Pro finishes those tasks in about 25 seconds. Big improvement.

If it makes you feel any better last year I ordered my 09 Mac Pro on March 31st, 2009. It didn't arrive until May 15, 2009.

I can't remember now what the delay was I believe it was either the 4870 or the RAID card that was holding the shipment.

I ordered the 6-core with 5870 which should arrive Monday or Tuesday according to tracking. I need help from you guys who ordered 4-core, 8-core, and 12-core machines. I want to publish a shootout between all the new models using apps like Cinebench, Geekbench, iMovie, After Effects, Photoshop, X-Plane, Portal First Slice, Bioshock, and SmallLuxGPU. All those apps are either free or available in demo form -- so there's nothing to buy.

Hopefully my ram arrives the same day as my computer I did have the 16 gig option from OWC but upgraded when the 24 gig option became available for the 6 core. 16 may not have been enough. My 8 gigs has been getting chewed up thanks to fat greedy programs like Maya lol.

I may have gotten lucky. Apparently Las Vegas (where I live) is a mini-hub for FedEx. Mine went from China to HK to Anchorage, to Vegas.

For my UK 'Arnhem Hub' comrades, just spoke to TNT. The shipment left Arnhem on 19th and is almost certainly in Northampton (she couldn't confirm as the depots aren't open on a Sunday to scan). Delivery still on track for Monday.

If it's stock configuration, it might have come straight from an Apple warehouse in the US.

Mine also originated in Texas, but wasn't stock. The only change, though, was getting the 5870. Perhaps that config is one they are stocking in the warehouses now.
