Why did you get the RAM from Apple?

I will order 24 gigs (6 X 4) from third party soon maybe.

I was wondering if someone would say something like you did. lol

I might even order 8 gig sticks too if they work.

Just kind of waiting. I figured 12 gigs will work fine for a while until I decide how much I will throw in ultimately.

Package for james Edward

That is what my girl friend said ( in a different voice) on our buzzer
when she came home,

she seams to think it was hilarious

....I'l get her back

Processor 065-9541 Two 2.93GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

Memory 065-9550 12GB (6X2GB)

Graphics Card 065-9573 ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB

Prepared for Shipment

Ooh, same spec as mine (which isn't shipping yet).

I plan on using mine to browse the web and maybe write the odd email (why do I have to justify buying one now? Apple didn't seem to care when I ordered it...)

Besides surfing the web and doing a few emails, I was thinking 12 gigs of expensive Apple RAM would let me play solitaire smoothly.

because of your nick: are you german/austrian? as far is i know only US mac pros got shipped.

12 x 2.66, 8GB, 5870, ordered on day 1 in the UK.

Prepared for Shipment :D:D:D

With the UK site currently saying 5-7 days for the quads and 8s but 2 weeks for the 12s I was worried there was a problem.

Maybe all the bto's went out on same flight and all the rest will leave tomorrow at around the same time on next flight, unless they do a day and night, or something, what time is it in china?

Your assumption is completely off target my friend.

I do speak German; however, I am not "German or Austrian."

Was ist besser als der hammer? Das ist der oberhammer.

I live on the left coast in a ******* state.

Today is my first day posting. However, I have been watching you guys here for the last 2 years. :D

I am starting out with 16GB from OWC. I'm thinking about going up to 24GB too, but not sure yet. If I do, I will only have to buy 2 more 4GB sticks. I probably will make the upgrade when I start doing more AE stuff.

It is early Tuesday morning in China right now, hopefully the BTO systems will ship soon :)

And I agree, Ben Linus should be the new Apple CEO ;)

hehe alright.
but its spelled "besser" :p

just a quick question: going to buy ram asap but we dont have something like OWC over here so i was looking on the kingston page which ram the recommend for de MP 2010. found this:

KTA-MP1333/4G 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC Module with thermal sensor

BUT it costs more than 60€ more than this one:

4096MB Kingston Value DDR3-1333 CL9 RECC registered
KVR1333D3D4R9S/4G
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_i...4096MB-Kingston-Value-DDR3-1333-CL9-RECC.html

only difference in my eyes is the fact that the cheaper ram is from kingston's Value line. any advice?

I will use the new Mac Pro for Final Cut Studio.

Hopefully the new Final Cut Studio will be coming out soon.

My guess is it will be out in the next 60 days.

I built a custom high end PC for Adobe Creative Suite CS5.

The PC has an Intel 980x extreme processor. MSI Big Bang-XPower MB. 24 gigs of Dominator RAM. A SSD and a few other HDs. Then I put a nice hot GTX 480 in the Coolermaster HAF X case. I unlocked the GTX 480 so it would run in Premeire pro using hardware mercury playback.

Premiere Pro CS5 plays and edits AVCHD footage like a hot knife going through butter!

After Effects CS5 RAM preview is great too.

hehe alright.

I'd like to know that too, as I'm in the same ship. By the way, we CAN order from OWC, but it might be a bit of a hassle with warranty and chances are we're paying fairly high customs for the modules.

Hmmmm

My advice would be to have a good friend in the US buy your RAM for you and send it to you as a gift!

..... I think i will end up buying my RAM from transintl.com

Hey I was just thinking.... lol, I will have 12 gigs of brand new Apple RAM for sale in about a week. Interested?

Yes, it's cheaper b/c it's from Kingston's budget line for cheap PCs. You are taking a gamble b/c it's not tested to work w/ the MP and my own past experience w/ ValueRAM is 50/50 w/ Macs -- Mac's being a lot pickier than PCs. ValueRAM is less expensive for a reason. You are spending 1000s on your MP, why are you cheaping out on RAM?

I would like to predict later tonight the 6 core bto's will ship. And your the first person to comment on my sig, lol I wrote that during lost mania. :D

OK, enough "preparing" now it's time to start shipping already!

Anyway, you ram guys should check out transintl for better ram prices. The 1333 ones I got had Micron chips on them. Same ones crucial uses. Quality stuff at very good prices.

Haha I'm still in the Lost mania, LOVE that show!

Hopefully my 12-core will ship tonight too. My guess is that most BTO systems will ship later today or tomorrow.

Well... prepared for shipment means they will ship anytime now. I would guess they will ship in the next 24 hrs.

I have that widget shipping thing running. :D

Who will post first that their mac pro is in fact being shipped????

That price can't possibly be right.

Kingston charges $113 for these same modules.

Those prices are cheaper than value 2GB sticks, yet these are ECC with thermal sensors?

I realized $750 for 16GB RAM from Apple is a bit steep, so I changed my order by phone today on my Two 2.66GHz 6-Core BTO to come with stock 6GB. Original delivery date was Aug 30, now shows Aug 24-30. Win!

Cancelled my Kingston order,
ordered 3 of those from Newegg.

Let's hope the prices weren't a misprint!
