Well, now the event seems to have moved to October 23... but it's reportedly for the iPad mini, and no further word on the retina 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Don't rule out the possibility of Tim Cook pulling a 'one last thing' at the end of the keynote on the 23rd.

I don't see a retina 13" being a front liner or having it's own keynote like the first retina 15" was, but I see it drawing a lot of oohs and aahs at the tail end of another event.

One can only hope so!

I agree. The 13-inch retina MacBook Pro is not big news. It is an expected follow-up to the 15-inch retina.

Ditto.. Buying the air tomorrow. Don't wanna join this waiting-game anymore..

Going for the exact same wonder - perhaps with i7 though.. You know how long customized models takes to ship?

I got mine from MacMall, they have them in stock. You can use the Apple Insider Promo to get 3% off, plus you don't pay sales tax. I got mine today...liking it so far. It did have a little dent in the bottom though, so MacMall is sending me a new one. Weird and inconvenient, but happy with their customer service.

Once the 13" rMBP has been out for a few months and is proven to be problem free, I'll probably sell the Air and get the rMBP.

Congrats! It sure is a nice machine! Ehm, unfortunately I'm living en Europe so no MacMalls available here - only ureasonably expensive Macs! Getting a pretty fair edu-discount though..

I was actually few seconds away from pulling the trigger on an Air, before these news was posted, so gonna see what happens the 23rd, and make my decision. I have waited this long, so might as well go another 10 days. Hopefully the rmbp will be announced, otherwise it'll be the air - as planned

Do you think Macs are expensive in Europe? I only wish Macs in Brazil costed as much as they do in Europe...

Well, considering I'm living the most expensive European country, then yeah. 'Cause everything is expensive, not just electronics. But this thread isn't about this, so let's get back on track :)

I just really hope that the RAM does not come soldered into the new rMBP 13" this would be a deal breaker for me.

Can't see how they'll make it thinner, without soldered RAM. Since the 15" Retina have it, then the 13" also will

Excited for the 23rd, 13 rMBP would be a great "one more thing"! :apple:

I hardly doubt it, apple is really focus on ios devices, also on the 23rd they will focus on ibooks, but i do have a little faith, also i wrotte to ming kuo, and got no response on the rmbp13 regarding the23rd event

What do y'all think the price point for the 13" retina will be? ~$1500 region?

Perhaps. Like I said in another post, that will depend on the size of the SSDs.

If the lower end model gets a 128 GB SSD, its price will be more similar to the low-end MacBook Air. I would say in the US$ 1,299 - US$ 1,499 range.

If, however, the lower end model gets a 256 GB SSD, its price will be somewhere in-between the higher end Air and the lower-end 15-inch retina, in the US$ 1,599 - US$ 1,799 range.

How likely is a 13" MBPr intro at the iPad Mini event?

I'm not sure how the Mac line is going to play out considering the iMacs and Mac Minis also have to be updated. I think they might try and stick it all into one event.

If this is an event focused on iBooks, then I guess the introduction of a 13" rMBP is very unlikely.

Based on the release schedule of Haswell processors, perhaps?

Not sure if Haswell will actually come out that soon. Maybe in June 2013.

The MBPr doesn't need that much time to be announced. In fact, they could just announce it online.
