MBP is their flagship product.. it makes sense for them to show it at WWDC occaisonally. It's been 3 years, it's probably due.

iMac has never been shown at WWDC. I can't fathom that Retina is the feature that makes them show it there. New CEO, new rules?

Make no mistake. The iPhone is their flagship product!

I think it would make sense of recent rumors are correct and we're about to get retina everything. It would seem to make sense to haul out the entire Mac line and say, "Look, nearly everything we make now has a totally amazing display."

Edit: Retina also seems like a good reason to haul out the iMac at a developer's conference (which, after all, is what WWDC is meant to be, not a product showcase). HiDPI is something that developers will presumably need to code for in order to take full advantage of.

Excuse my ignorance. WWDC?

no posts since the 15th, who else is sick of seeing the stupid ass iPad not the Apple homepage still. Mac news has been quiet since early monday, back to dull days and another dull weekend. WWDC better have all the goods + available to purchase and ship. none of this announce but wait till ML or some ********. the wait is long in the tooth

Yes I'm sick of the apple store front page. And going through the process of placing items in the basket to check stock availability. I will be glad I waited though I'm sure.

the title of this thread should delete "may 8th 2012" and put something like, "no body frikkin knows, Apple needs to hurry the hell up and make this extended wait worth it!

Since they're apparently going to wait for WWDC I'm beginning to suspect they have something more important to announce than a minor refresh. Such as a retina display, or some kind of TV integration. Maybe a 24" and 32" model? One can dream I guess.

Only 3 weeks left. Only 2 weeks till real info starts getting exciting

The ? Is will they just announce awesome macs but say no purchase till ML

Doubt ML is close to release. The dev previews have been real buggy

The guy at Best Buy told me today they're running "slightly" low in Macs right now. But he did tell me that they have deleted the Apple keyboard from their inventory lists. Backlit keyboards coming soon? I sure hope so. :)

I want a new iMac

Well Chaps,

Its now Friday 18 May and nothing new on iMac refresh.

I'm in the market for a new 27in i7 - just sold my 2011 i7 with maxed out RAM, VRAM and APP - now need my replacement.

I don't buy in to all the 'retina' nonsense with the iMac, specifically the 27in model who's display is just fine as it is - for my old eyes anyway.

Hence, I'm more concerned about the actual GPU that will be utilised in the top end model, type of RAM and USB-support - I'd be horrified if the optical drive and FW800 were dropped as machine is utilised heavily for DTP - admittedly cost of USB Flash storage is quite cheap, but some print shops still like DVD copies.

I'm updating to the new iMac - when it appears - as want machine to last a full three years and be as future proof as possible - nothing wrong with the 2011 i7 model and speed bump is nothing much to write home about - heat is something I'm concerned about and Ivy Bridge offers significant heat improvement and hopefully offers greater LCD longevity - I'm sick and tired of swapping out LCD panels due to heat issues and staining issues - this has happened three times to date with me with the Oct. 2009 design - hence APP is always essential for me.

So, an incremental update suits me fine - I'm not too keen on a move to DDR3 1600 gaming RAM either which currently is twice the cost of 1333 RAM for little overall performance gain.

looks like no mac news this week other than early monday really. another dull time, weekend to as usual. nothing is going to be exciting until is released/ real leaks show/ and or SKU's show up. this is really gonna suck big time if their announced but don't ship till ML is ready in late summer in order to support retina. can't wait any longer

Are there any signs in 10.8 for retina support?

(i have no idea if it would need it).

I was wondering, maybe this question is answered earlier but couldn't find it, if the new iMac will be announced on lets say the WWDC-event, when will the new iMac usually be available in Europe (The Netherlands)?

Availability of iMacs are usually the same worldwide, but they might announce it and say that it's available in a month, or two, or maybe like last year, BTO options will be months and months delayed (and when they finally arrive, your girlfriend will likely be like, "We can't afford that, cancel the order, you just got an iPad 3, you don't need this")

And then there is the waiting...

Could someone please advise on the best way to purchase a new mac when (if) they are finally released? Is it feasible to think - I will just roll up to my local Apple reseller or Apple shop (in sunny Germany) and expect there to be a massive pile of Macs delivered that morning for me to take my pick?!? Or is it quicker in the long-run to get into the virtual que and order online? Eitherway, what is the 'normal' waiting time after an announcement?

Finally, if expectations are dashed, and the only improvements are a new shape and less nanos in the chip, and we decide on the 2011 model, how much cheaper have previous models been in the past immediately after release?

(sorry if post appears twice - newbie mistake in classification)
