i share the pain....so sick of macbook news. If I had to buy a mackbook, it would most likely stay at my desk 99% of the time, completely penetrated with cables - and I would have to pay around $1000 extra for the same specs..just because its MOBILE which I dont need....Now, Apple has to have other alternatives to that, and iMac is that perfect alternative. I can´t understand that iMac isn´t still a high selling product, I see them everywhere! :(

Aaaaaand my graphics card in my poor old MacBook Pro just died 20 minutes ago...notice that I said I was running on borrowed time with it earlier in this thread. Guess I'll wait until the ML release and if no iMac, get a nice used Mac Pro.

ok im so sick and tired of these new MPR news, like "omfg i can connect 3 displays", omfg the display is so awesome, omfg its fast, omfg this, that, this that" **** already ok we get it its an awesome machine get over yourselves, where are the imacs news, NO ONE is talking about them... they way over due and none of the rumors sites say anything about them because they are too busy jerking off to the new macbook pro.. am i right?? Seriously.. what do you guys think... so so pissed about it..

I up voted you. At least you are honset about your feelings . I also do not mind the type of cursing that you used. Using f bombs to express anger is common in our world. I don't like using f bombs to put a person down.

My feelings are The 2011 is a good machine that I do not need or want and the new iMac will be a better machine that I won't need or want. Now a new mac mini cool I need one and want one. My feelings about a new mac mini are exactly the same as your feelings on a 2012 iMac. As for macbook air and or macbook pros I could not care less. 0 need or want.

Correct that for you :D

1) people talking without knowing anything about me...

im not a "younger with no desire other than to attack others" fo your information i am a pro user i do high intensive work on apples machines i do video editing. i need a powerful machine im not just talking just to talk the mac pros have been neglected for how long now ?? thats right.. 2010 components and the worse slap in the face was the so called "update" after wwdc. now apple is pushing us to the imac but wont release them because why ?? they want to sell their new shinny laptop.. a laptop that i cant put more than 16 gb of ram or i cant do any upgrades what so ever. REALLY ??? get informed before you talk Im a pro user i need a desktop i bought tons of apple software that now i cant use what am i suppose to do throw those away too because apple just want to release their iToys. i dont think so

2)
just one thing.. apple used to be all about their pro users ok if you know about any history mac pros used to get more updates but after all these iToys came around theres no more suppor for us.

Im not ranting just to be upsed or trash talk im just saying the truth and expressing my frustration.

Yes, your posts do come across as very professional. I can smell the professionalism right through the screen.

Post PC? After my dead body:)

As far as I love MBPs I'm still a kind of an old fashioned guy who needs a desktop computer. Just the way I am - Macbook Pro is great, but I need a big display, I like to have a standalone keyboard and a trackapad which I can place where it (they) suit me. It's good to see great, new laptops being released, but I'm kind of tired of the manufacturers trying to set a trend for everyone to buy laptops as their main computers - I feel that basically every major company has kind of abandoned desktops (in terms of marketing), so that people buy laptops that they obviously have to replace more frequently - and that's more $. I get it, but I remember my first desktop has served me for 8 years with 2 cheap upgrades (HDD and an audio card) along the way – so although I’d paid the equivalent of today’s Retina MBP for it it‘d paid for itself over the years. My current desktop has been with me for nearly 5 years now and I've been able to easily transfer my old (SATA) HDDs into it as well as get a new SATA II, then upgrade the graphics and RAM, put in additional fans etc small stuff. That's why I love, want and need my desktop (I know it wouldn't be that easy and even possible to update an iMac, but still).
I' recently got a refurbished late 2011 13" MBP 2,8 i7 and I love it, but I would love to get an iMac as well to replace my old hackintosh. And I don't really care that much for the iMac update, because a current 27" iMac would serve me just fine especially that, if I know Apple, they will make it even more smooth and beautiful and... slimmer=less upgradeable or harder to upgrade. But I've decided to hold my horses and wait for Xmas. If new iMacs are available by then then it's great and if not then it's OK too. Anyways I will get an iMac to show Apple that there is still a market for desktops - post PC era my a*s:)
I'll upgrade the MBP to 8GB RAM and use the leftover 2GBs to upgrade the iMac, get an SSD, external Superdrive ('cause an external ODD makes more sense with a desktop than with a laptop in my book) and still be very happy - even with an older iMac.
But I won't rush into it, I'll pick up a 24 Dell IPS for the time being and then we'll see what happens. Untill then both the hackintosh and the MBP will do me just fine.

Correct that for you :D

Hehe, yeah, sorry one zero too little :D
Infact its even more than $1000, in my currency. To have the equivalent of a maxed out imac performance wise I would have to buy a macbook pro Retina, with full capacity on cpu and graphics etc.. + a cinema display. then its nearly $2000 difference, and I would get less machinepower. And that machine would just lie on the desk getting super heated with wacom tablet, hdd's and monitors connected to its teeths. That's not an optimal solution....

C'MON APPLE!! Release something!

the funny thing is that i actually need a mac pro not an imac but since apple is taking their sweet ass time and forget about the pro users. now i dont have a machine to work on i wont go a buy a laptop nor im going the windows route or hackingtosh... the desktop line were way more over due than the laptops and they always leave those for last.. Apple has pissed me off so much.. i have so many projects on hold and i would not throw away my money by buying a 2010 mac pro or 2011 imac not a chance.. then these websites are the same as apple they have so many articles about the newest laptop and iphone and ipad and even apple tv set **** but the desktop line noooo forget about those ...

Look around the forum, everyone here who puts work on hold for an iMac ends up giving in and buying the top of the line i7. They come out work finished, profit made and a very happy iMac owner for years to come.
Chances are that the top of the line i7 27" iMac of today will still be very up there when the new line is released.

As much as it annoys me that they haven't released it, I can wait up to December if necessary before any major projects that require its power come into play as my machine can still handle most of the workload.

I love your sarcasm, you really don't get it ? Macrumors and the other sites are not making an efford to figure out stuff since they have a giant bouner
Over these new MacBooks if they didn't have that I bet they would start researching and asking their sources but since they have "news" they dont make the effort to find out any news on anything. Tell me how could they possibly have news about the next iPhone since almost right after the iPhone 4s came out not the Mac pro or iMacs. All they kept posting was stuff like oh they might discontinue them or were not gonna get them until next year these rumors sites love apple and love their apples iToys nothing else really apple doesn't care about the pro users. How many times have the laptops have been updated and no updates to the Mac pro huh ???

No you clearly don't get it. The writers at MacRumors don't get the leaks personally. Therefore if their sources don't have information, how are they supposed to write about it? Would you rather they make up stories just so there is news on the iMacs?
Next, the only way for the writers to make money is by page clicks. Wouldn't more news articles on topics that people were interested in (i.e. iMacs and Mac Pros) mean more web traffic and therefore more profits? I highly doubt they are withholding information or not trying to gather information on products such as the iMacs and Mac Pros as that doesn't make much fiscal sense now does it?
Have you ever considered there just isn't news or leaks on these products?

so i am the trash talker huh?? sure. I dont have to make you believe anything i do not care about what you think of me. I already explained that since i dont have a machine i have to rely on my iphone to reply to this forum, AND YES its a FORUM not the constitution of the United States, so who cares.

don't worry about him man. You will always get people who want to start a scuffle over words spoken on the internet. It is there way of feeling good about themselves. Just a cover for real life you know. As I said before. Everyone is thinking what you are saying.

I feel the same way. I like being able to sit at a desk and have lots of room to breathe and stretch my legs. When I'm using a laptop, I feel confined and cramped. I know you don't have to have one on your lap, that you can hook up peripherals or use it on a table, but it just doesn't feel the same. I also like the power a desktop packs. I don't know if laptops are quite there yet, unless you use a lot of dough.

I fully understand your language and frustration. I think it's reached a point were foul language should be allowed. In fact, they should remove the curse filter from the iMac forum so we can all release our full frustration!!

****, damn, ****, slow mother****ing apple, neglectors of desktops!

Thank you guys.. i didnt mean to come off as a such a hostile person.. Im just really frustrated at this point as im sure a lot of you are. I need a desktop i love the screen size i dont want a laptop i wont pay for the portability because i dont need it. I feel someone just needed to snap and say some stuff but i couldnt help myself and went ahead. Apple is crazy if they want me to go buy a laptop and then spend another $1000 on a thunderbolt display.. i dont think so. I also wont pay premium price of 2011 year computer or a 2010 computer (mac Pro) and thats whats frustrating, its like they want you to go buy these mobile devices so bad. UGH!!!!

As much as I, too, want Apple to shut up and take my money for a product they don't have for sale yet, it's a whole lot less stressful if you look at the whole situation and don't assume they're trying to personally screw you.

If you need a replacement immediately, some people will have success buying a refurb 2011 iMac and selling it when the 2012 does come out. Yes, it's more hassle, but it's within your control.

thanks for the tips but with Mountain goat lol coming in July might as well wait till then see what happens.. which is not as overwhelming as these rumor sites talking about theses new macbook pro retina. that actually bothers more because those are not really news or rumors we already have those laptops can we please move from that already they just dont seem to care about nothing else and definitely not about desktop line side of products THAT Actually bothers me more.

I went to the apple store yesterday to play with the new macbook pro retina model. I am in my fifties the screen is to small for my eyes.
I have a 24 inch 1900 by 1200 monitor. A 26 inch 720p tv a 32 inch 1080p tv and a 46 inch 1080p tv. While none of them are as sharp as the new retina macbook pro. they all have a lot more size. For my eyes size matters. So a mac book pro is not for me. I had a 27 inch iMac for a few years I liked it but It was a 2009 and the cpu was getting slower a c2d 3.06 so I sold it.

"the desktop is anti cloud so it is being killed off"

Just my opinion of what mac and pc wants us to do in the long run.

Yeah, but it's hard to really control that. MR can't conjure stories out of nowhere. And if nobody wants to leak what's happening to the iMac, then they only thing to write about is how many monitors someone can hook up to an RMBP, what the insides look like, how many millimeters the next iPhone will be, and so on.

I'm sure if anyone got any iMac news, it would be up here in a second. Personally I don't expect anything until 4 days before it's released.

Don't take this the wrong way, but nobody is FORCING you to give Apple your money. This seems like a pretty simple solution across the board. If you need a Mac then buy one now, if you don't then wait... Kind of elementary, but they don't MAKE you buy anything. If you don't want to pay top dollar on 2011/2010 models get a refurb maybe. Complaining really gets nobody anywhere. You are right though, they do want you to buy these mobile (assuming laptop) devices so bad. They want this because they released a new Macbook Pro/Air line. Of course they want people to buy it. Im waiting on the 2012 Mini, but may end up with something else, because I need a computer now, and I am aware of my limited options.

If you really wanted to "stick it" to Apple, then go buy a PC.

I see your point, being angry doesnt make a difference but i think someone had to say something, if you go look on the facebook fan page or whatever "we want a new mac pro" it has like 18,000 likes and i feel becuase so many people were upset about the mac pros it caused Tim Cook to say some comments about it. As far as pushing me to buy stuff, see the problem is that i spent so much money on adobe software and plugins fro mac and stuff like that, and i cant go back and throw away all the money i have spent on the software, plugins, etc.. i need a mac and no matter what i wont buy a refurbish one because im gonna end up loosing a lot of money im not rich and i cant afford just to throw away my money like that. I see your point and i agree with most of what you said but i think we need to say something and hope someone more important and with more power will see it and understand our frustration. On a more positive side im really hoping that apple releases the imac in july i mean last year they released the mac mini with lion lets hope history repeats itself and hopefully the 2012 imacs will see the light of day next month.

Chances are that the top of the line i7 27" iMac of today will still be very up there when the new line is released.

No doubt it is and will remain a capable machine, but right now it's a terrible value for its price. That is the fundamental (and deal-breaking) problem with the 2011 iMac right now and frankly anyone who buys one now is making a poor economic decision.

If every consumer had the discipline to refrain from buying until Apple gave us even a spec bump to bring pricing back into parity with performance, we wouldn't be stuck in this weird limbo of an extended refresh cycle because Cookie would see a sales crater and order that it be rectified sooner rather than later -- or that the refresh be announced if it's already planned for ML as suspected, so that at least pre-orders could be taken. And this would be the case more regularly, like a few years ago when we got 8- or 9-month iMac refresh cycles and the price/performance value stayed tight.

Apple is a different company now. Not necessarily for the better, but I expect what we have been used to all these years has changed for good.
