Unless a company comes out with something new and interesting for the 17 PM, which seems unlikely at this point, this is my final collection for this year and next. In years past, I’d typically have a bunch of lightweight minimal cases, but it’s just the opposite this year due to the change in materials from titanium to aluminum. Top to bottom, left to right:
ROW 1: Mous Limitless, Torras Q3 Air Pro, Beats Rugged, Nomad Rugged, Spigen Tough Armor T, dBrand Tank. These are the cases that I trust would protect the phone in a head high drop on concrete, face up or down.
ROW 2: Moft Movas Snap, Bullstrap Contemporary, Spigen Urban Fit T. These cases are probably sufficient for most day-to-day situations around the house or office, but I would not trust them in a hard drop on concrete, particularly face down.
ROW 3: Apple TechWoven, Pitaka Edge. When these cases are on the phone I handle the device as if it’s caseless/skinned. Neither provide much drop protection.
A few thoughts:
Mous Limitless: Arguably the best weight-to-protection ratio among these cases. They really improved the hand feel this year. Right now my favorite case.
Torras Q3 Pro: Easily the most protective among all of these. Not a fan of kickstands and the back scratches too easily, but still an awesome case with great hand feel, great buttons, and a premium build.
Beats Rugged: Solid, super protective, super grippy (bottom half), but bulky. Surprisingly light for what it is though.
Nomad Rugged: Really clean design, better than in years past. All of the extra protection is on the back, which is an odd design. They should remove some bulk from the back and beef up the screen lip, which would make it a better case—both more protective and lighter.
Spigen Tough Armor: Same as it ever was. Not a bad case, meh buttons, and kind of boring compared to the others.
dBrand Tank: I have a love hate relationship with the Tank. I kind of hate how it looks, and it’s not comfortable at all, but it’s so durable, protective, and grippy, and the buttons are so good, that I can’t part with it.
Moft Movas: A vegan version of the Apple Leather case. More protective than the TechWoven, a better alternative in my opinion.
Bullstrap Contemporary: Token leather case. It was on sale… lol. The quality of the leather is better than Andar IMO.
Spigen Urban Fit: Nice case, feels a little gummy on the sides which is unappealing to me. I’d say it provides mid-level protection. Like almost all Spigen cases, I find the design and build boring and a bit dated.
TechWoven: I love the feel and buttons, but the fit on this case is a problem. Some will argue otherwise, but the number of photos of phones damaged while in this case is proof that it’s not protective enough and easily pops off on the top corners. The copies I’ve had were all on the loose side.
Pitaka Edge: A lovely case that’s about equivalent to a skin. I hardly use it on this phone, which I feel needs more protection due to the aluminum build.
That’s all I’ve got—probably won’t have much new to show for a while.

Did you post any pictures, or feedback on the Bullstrap? I was looking forward to your feedback. Maybe I missed some posts?

I only tried it briefly so haven’t developed any strong opinions either way. My initial impression is that the leather is slightly nicer than Andar’s and the fit is typical for a leather case (OK but imprecise). Most of these different brands of leather cases are made at the same handful of OEMs in China, so the quality doesn’t vary that much. The main question with this case is whether or not you like the way they handled the plateau cutouts—it seems to be a polarizing design. Some people also dislike the logo stamped in the middle of the back. Neither bother me, particularly for the $22 I paid for it. Would I pay the $99 retail? Heck no. 😊

Yeah. I scratched it a bit and didn’t want to return it to Amazon because they’d likely resell it as new to someone else. It’s actually growing on me and the scratches are only visible in very specific light, so it’s not bothering me. It’s a very nice case.

Picked up one of the $5 and change Beats Rugged from Amazon in the tan color and I must say, I don’t get the love for it here.
The bottom half is grippy-ish, but not nearly as grippy as has been stated. The charging port opening is tiny and won’t fit most cables. And it’s pretty thick.
If it weren’t $5, I’d return it. Not only for the reasons above, but also because it was listed as new and when it arrived, the box had clearly been opened. Freaking Amazon, man.
Into the unused cases drawer it goes.

Amazon deserves to be on the receiving end of feedback that they sent you an open box item that was advertised as new. Every time I experience/hear something like this, it makes me question those Prime $$$ I throw at them every year.
