Which Case Did You Buy For Your iPhone?

Hoping you'll get a good copy. 🤞 My midnight is thankfully perfect and among my favorites this season. BUT, in my case, the sides are a hair's breadth lower than the screen protector. I don't mind it, though.

Dang, as someone new to Caudabe, it's disconcerting to see so many negative experiences. I've had my 17 Pro celestial blue (precise) sheath for several weeks and to me, it was perfect in terms of fit, build & button tactility from day one. I also have an (open) gray sheath on it's way to me now.

I actually avoided Mous because I recalled seeing tons of negativity about them in past case threads, I think. But now, that leather one is beckoning... 😊

Bummer. I was afraid of that. If I wanted a case with a sub-zero lip I’d just go with the Pitaka Edge and be done with it. But a relatively heavy/bulky “protective” case like the Paragon should have at least a flush lip with a screen protector on. Phone Rebel and Mous do the “low sides, higher corners” design better in my opinion.

Mous really blew it last year, first with their gigantic cutout, then with their poorly implemented camera control. They’ve fixed those issues this year while making the cases slightly more comfortable to hold. Their QC still needs tightening up, but that’s true of every manufacturer I’ve tried over the past few years.

Every case has some drawback. I’ll spare everyone by not making a list, but just know that there will always be trade-offs, period. The Mous is arguably the lightest and least bulky case on the market that provides such a high level of protection. Most of the other cases at this protection level are massive, and can weigh as much as 20 grams more. So yeah, it’s a little squared off on the back, but when I need the protection, I’ll take that over a smashed phone or carrying around a brick all day.

Prefer:
Metal Buttons.
Decent screen lip.
Drop protection above 1.5 Meters (for work)
Not too much branding. (Prefer minimalist)

Cases in rotation so far;
Caudabe Sheath Blue (Too much blue?)
Caudabe Paragon Moonstone (White clashes with the blue)
Nomad Modern leather (Lip too shallow, screenprotector touches ground before the case)
Flolab Surtect (Feels cheap)
ESR cyber Tough (Feels cheap, too bulky)
ESR Hybrid (Slippery/cheap)

Tried:
Pitaka, slippery.
Supcase beetle, too bulky
Ostand Q3 Air, too slippery, too much branding.
Rebel case, too much branding.
Spigen, feels cheap just not my brand.

All these so called tech youtubers just look like brand shills to me.
Which makes it hard to find a really good product nowadays.

Not saying anyone is right or wrong, but different opinions such as "this is great" and "this sucks" makes the world - and forums - a fun place 😀

Phone Rebel Gen 7 feels better than the Mous imo

Ok, I’ll jump in to keep things going and acknowledge I have a problem 🤣. Jumped to the 17PM about a month ago from the 15PM as I didn’t want to pay even more for an 18PM (and yes, I worry about that yet buy all these cases, it makes no sense).

I’ve found this generation of cases to feel more bulky, I know part of it is the 17PM being a bit larger of course, but I’m much more critical of how cases feel in the hand.

My top 3:
1. Phone Rebel Gen 7
2. Apple Tech Woven
3. Dbrand Tank (if you want lots of protection)

Hot takes, Paragon is overrated it feels chunky and the design near the port isn’t pinky comfortable, Mous feels like a brick, most people would be best off just buying a TineeOwl DuneX.

For sure, but the top above the plateau is extremely flexible this year, which makes it far less protective than the Mous, which is reinforced with PC in that area. Plus, because the PR top is so flexible, it collects a lot of detritus in that area. Always trade-offs…

If feel was my top priority, I’d be running the Pitaka Edge or perhaps the Apple Silicone or TW.
