Thing is the series is still good to this day and a lot better than most of the garbage churned out today...

Indeed. But I think modern TV often relies on CGI and the writing is so influenced by other shows. So you often see the same ideas rehashed on different shows.

Hence why much of it is rubbish. Once I get through The Professionals will watch The Sweeney, then West World season one as the rest is mostly garbage written by the untalented... If going to spend my time, it needs to be good not mediocre let alone the typical mind numbing **** they churn out these days...

Another good one:

First season outstanding, fully engaged. Second season writing & production value dropped off a cliff, third season cancelled thx to the geniuses in charge who basically have no clue about entertainment and what the audience wants to watch...

[Altered Carbon] First season outstanding, fully engaged.
...first season broadly followed the plot of the acclaimed book but changed the backstory and character alignments so much that the two subsequent novels no longer made sense, so the second season was only very, very loosely based on Book 3...

Trouble is, Kovacs was written as an amoral, violent, completely mercenary anti-hero who's vengeful rampages sometimes coincide with "doing the right thing", while the TV show tried to turn him into the Hero of the Quellist Revolution - which really doesn't fit with the nasty stuff he does in Book 2 or what he's up to at the beginning of Book 3...

They'd have done better to have just ignored the subsequent books and write more "Cyberpunk Film Noir" stories with Kovacs walking the Earth.

Change was too much for me and obviously many others hence season 3 being **** caned that and the production quality was in the bucket.

Wow, just wow; this was a hell of a ride, and the MUSIC, propelling us thru those first seven episodes...!

The whole thing with said first seven episodes covering a very specific period of time was AMAZING...!

But now I am a bit melancholy, I want more of these characters lives...!

I recently bought this show on DVD. I'm ok with owning music and games digitally, but I still buy movies and TV shows on disc. I prefer Blu-ray, but there's older stuff that's not available on Blu-ray. I use my PlayStation 5 to watch my movies & TV shows.

As for this show, I knew about it and saw bits and pieces of it years ago. This is the first time I got to watch entire episodes. I am enjoying it. There's no way this show would be made today because it might offend someone. 🙄

It comes back August 3rd.

I also decided since I'm going to a Trek convention in Vegas in August, I started a rewatch of the series that will be under represented at said convention: Star Trek Prodigy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Prodigy; the first season is good, but that second season is fire...

That and Lower Decks are my favorite Modern era treks.

Lower Decks is AMAZING, I have probably binged thru it at least a half-dozen times...!

For NuTrek, I also enjoyed Strange New Worlds, Discovery (as rocky as it was at times), and Academy...

And Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd, come on...!

The first season was so good. So good. The second season was worth watching, but not as good--for the reasons you say.

Have on disk, make little sense if coming from a military background. You can get behind the characters as is well written.
