White iPhone 4 DELAYED. Officially

Well, the number "4" in Chinese culture is a bad sign... Maybe Apple is getting "Chinese Curse"
Nonetheless, I've placed a reservation with my local Apple store for 16GB Black.
I feel bad for all the people that just sold their black ones because they thought they were getting white soon. That sucks...

Well this sucks... Not because I have to have white but mainly because I could have had the phone since day one had I known i had no reason to wait.
Oh well ill just get a gelaskin and call it a day.... Still disappointed though

Exactly! Ever since lead was banned in paint - white has been a particularly hard color to develop in a format that will remain stable and not yellow over time. This isn't as big a deal for something that has a consistent amount of light - but put an unstable white paint in the dark for a long period of time and it will yellow. Now that Apple had admitted their phones require cases they realize that most people will be putting their white iphones in a case. The last thing Apple needs is for people to start swapping cases to find out the back of the phone has yellowed and no longer matches the front.
As to the talk about redesigning the antenna....folks - that just isn't going to happen until the next generation of iPhone. If they did this - there would be major class action law suits from existing iP4 customers that have the flawed design.
Apple is just discovering that building a glass encased phone is much more challenging than the previous metal and plastic version.

I got one from eBay. It's called a white replicase air jacket. It's amazing! I only paid $8.00 with shipping from a US seller too!
The same number of colors as the current line of iPhone4s...ONE...and it also comes with a reliable antenna design that doesn't require a case?!
Anyway...nice attempt to distract from the real issue that Apple continues to have problems with this fourth generation iPhone. Maybe Steve Jobs will hold another press conference and explain that it is ok that they screwed up the launch of the white iPhone by showing the competition only having black phones.
Later this year? Would I want an iPhone 4 for 6 months or so before iPhone 5 comes along...I guess if I bought it outright and avoided a contract. Still, less shelf time for an Apple product. I'm guessing iPhone 5 won't be all that different (apart from perhaps antenna redesigns etc).

I'd take Galaxy S or any other Android phone over Droid X (or any Motorola Android phone). If I wanna live with encrypted bootloader and stock ROM, iPhone 4 is there (and I've reserved my iPhone 4).
The point of Android is to be very open, my Nexus One is alive and well with CyanogenMod...
Maybe the delay is the fix for the antenna issue? Would be cool though!

Just cancel the white model until next June when the next version comes out... maybe they can figure it out by then.

How exactly does returning a black iPhone in hopes of getting a white iPhone (which was officially announced to be released at the end of July) constitute being "selfish"??? Maybe "hopeful" or "risk-taking," but certainly not "selfish."
Perhaps They'll be available in November just in time to create adequate hype and boost holiday sales.

Apple may lose some of those customers...to Android. Over on some of the Android forums there are quite a few iP4 and 3GS customers that joined the Android family after being jerked around by Apple. This latest news will only exagerate the problem.
When Android 2.2 (FROYO) comes out this fall...before the white iP4 is released - Android will finally have an OS that is superior in speed and performance to iOS. This delay in the white iP4 is Android's gain. Also RIMM is going to have OS 6.0 out this fall.
Apple's timing could not have been worse - but their competition is sure to enjoy it.

Wouldn't be surprised if that happened. A White iP4 would look great in holiday advertising with all the snow themes.
But...let's see what RIMM and Google are able to do to rush white smart phones to market. White plastic cases are easy to manufacture with reliable color - compared to the white painted glass panels.
